Ravenpaw - Free Translator (Warrior Cats PMV)

Here’s a tribute to Ravenpaw (my personal favourite Warriors character!) 17 artists got together to make this project; it’s my personal favourite project to date, and I’m so surprised and happy with how cohesive it came out. It chronicles the events of Into the Wild; Ravenpaw's fear of Tigerclaw and discontentment with clan life.
This project just feels like a living picture book. This was my first time hosting a still-image-only collaborative project, (Usually called PMV - Picture Music Videos) and wow was it a great experience! The caliber of background art, emotion on the character’s faces, everyone went above and beyond with this project and I thank you all for working your butts off!! The autumn theme worked out so well!
There were a couple bumps in the road as far as timing the parts went; I ended up merging a couple people's or changing the order around; I was careful not to cut anyone's animation short, but the order of things had to be mixed up a little to keep the timing right and avoid gaps in the video.
I know the song (Free Translator by sound collage group The Books) may sound nonsensical to some, (the lyrics are meant to be gibberish, that’s why it’s called Free Translator) but I really thought the somber, soft, “rural” tone to the song really fit Ravenpaw and his choice of a quiet lifestyle. The Books are all about textures and emotion, so I thought it would be a good fit for a Warriors project. The emotional complexity of some of the themes in the Warriors series really comes through in this project, I think.
Once again a big thank you to all the participants for doing so well; I’m glad I let a whole new group of illustrators shine by making an animation-free project. ☺
