Water pump on that is easy to do it yourself and the wheel bearing, you can do it yourself too. My 12' chevrolet impala Lt water pump went out, and i spent $100 for a new one and did it myself. Also, i thought my eavp solenoid was bad, but it was the hose line that was cracked, and that was the reason my engine light kept turning on, so i went and bought a 3' fuel line and replaced it and since then, my impala is running like a champ. I didn't need the whole 3' hose line. I only needed a foot of it.
170,000 miles, and i changed my oil every 4000 miles.

I absolutely love my 2008 impala SS at 98k miles on her. She treated very well, things ive done to the car is 4t80e swap an headlights. Oherwise, she still working with little to no problems.

Honestly, the Impala is a great choice! But NOT the ones with the 3.5 v6 and 4 Spd auto. Those are trash, but I still like my personal car. If I was getting an Impala, it would be a 2012 or up.

You are right it is the wheel bearing I have a 2012 and I have changed out the wheel hub twice. I guess it’s something with these cars the way that they sit is crooked and they just eat up the wheel bearings having dealt with this problem more than once, and I know how to change the hub by myself

Wheel bearing replace should be about 400 bucks not thousands

That dreaded 3500 engine is just too underpowered (and a gas guzzler) for this heavy car.
