I drove the solterra as a loaner.i was absolutely blown away by how quiet and refined it was. I loved the 360 camera view. Made parking a breeze in all honesty, the black vehicle and interior looks really sleek. Great video
Thanks for posting the video, as other person said, I was blown away after I did the test drive, it is one fun vehicle to drive and has everything you need but most importantly, it is the most comfortable EV compared to medium range EV and Tesla, I am sure BM and Benz has better suspensions but compared to Tesla, it is so quite and comfortable. I bought one yesterday. lol
I was hoping it could be used for *really* tight spots, but doesn't seem like that's the case. Question: during the parking cycle, if you step on the brake does it cancel out completely- does the system reset and at that point you're on your own?
This is pretty cool. But, first, I'm not in the market for an electric car and second, I could have parked it in the first spot, easily. LOL! I taught my wife how to parallel park. I had a hard time letting go of the wheel when I first got our 2022 Forester Premium. I was testing out the lane centering while in cruise control. It was hard at first to let go of the wheel. But, now I'm used to it. Obviously, only for 20 to 50 seconds. LOL!
@Alex Prestigiacomo Yes, sir! I want to be in control of my vehicle. By the way, in 2 weeks (well, 13 days) we willl have had our Forester for one year. We are thinking about trading it in for a Forester Wilderness. Any thoughts?
I think you’re the first person to actually say anything about exercising caution with the technology as it may fail. I’ve had my Subaru serviced at a local Subaru dealership, I remember having this conversation just a couple years ago about the eyesight technology long story short he said it is a computer and they can have a tendency of failing also. I trust what Subaru puts in as their technology, but it amazes me at the amount of people that seem to be flocking to wanting high-tech vehicles practically to do everything for them. For me I’ll stick to myself being the driver and captain of my car, not my car being captain of me lol. That does look like a very nice vehicle, but EV vehicles….. I’m just not sold on yet, I prefer gas powered engines and I hope that Subaru doesn’t completely go culture crazy with eliminating those
I saw this car here at a Subaru dealership in central Florida when I picked up my (new to me) 2020 Outback. Unfortunately it's range is already too low (220 miles). It is not competitive with what's out there already. My wife ended up buying an ID.4 Pro S RWD the same week I got the Outback. She is seeing about 280 miles on a full charge driving around
It reminds me of programming 911 on speed dial on your phone, where you have to press *, then 2, then 6. A convenience feature that takes a lot of effort to use. On the other hand, some people with disabilities may find it useful.
Love the technology but is not about if you can park in a tight spot but someone else don't hit your car trying to get out after you park there! Hopefully the sensors are higher than the bumper!😀
Great video! Question: Could you be able to demonstrate the Subaru remote start key? I’ve special ordered a 2023 Subaru Outback Touring XT from my dealership, and also ordered the remote start key with it. I’d like to see how it works.
Hey Alex, when I took home my local dealer's service loaner for the night I was flipping through the owners manual and the ANNOYING reverse beeping is a dealer adjustable customization. Theres a good chart that breaks down if customizations are made via the stereo, driver's display, or by the dealer.
Hi Alex. I love your videos. Too bad dealers in Southern California, Los Angeles County, are selling Subarus far above the sticker price. It’s difficult to get a good deal, not to mention the time it takes to get a Subaru here. Anyway, thank you for your informative videos. 😀🙌🏽👍🏽
You're welcome! Sorry to hear that about your local dealers. Most in the midwest here seem to be right at MSRP. I like to think it will normalize soon on the east and west coast but haven't seen it yet.
Can it parallel park on the right side as well? what happens if the two parked vehicles are not equally distant from the curb? Is it using the curb or the parked vehicles (street side edge) as a reference? what does it do when attempting to parallel park while traffic is in the street? One more piece of tech to add expense and to breakdown. If you can not park the vehicle, you have no business driving. That declaration should clear the streets. HA!
Hey Alex, Love all your VDOs about Subaru. Too bad! We live in California….tooo farrr to go buy New Subaru Outback 2023 Wilderness from you 😢…so we just buy from Subaru Dealer not far from us.
While you’re clicking all the buttons and aligning the parking spot, cars are backing up behind you blowing their horns. If you can’t turn off the chime while backing, that’s a deal killer for me. No. No. No.
I have owned a Solterra for over six months. I love it. I have never used the self parking feature but everything else about this car is exactly what I need. So I will keep "this thing" even if I never use the self parking option.

Thank you for introducing us to the technology of the Solterra.
You're welcome!
Long process but I love the tech. Great video!
I agree! If you're comfortable parallel parking on your own, this isn't going to be something you would use very often. Still cool to test out though!
Thank you for demonstrating the parking assist. That is a very awesome feature!

Thanks for making this video, I bought the Limited version of the solterra last week and Gad no idea it could self park
Useful video for my Solterra use. I wish I could find the compass in my Solterra@
There is a compass if you go to the menu button on the dash and scroll down. Atleast there is one on mine.
I was hoping it could be used for *really* tight spots, but doesn't seem like that's the case. Question: during the parking cycle, if you step on the brake does it cancel out completely- does the system reset and at that point you're on your own?
I'd like to park my 2024 Solterra in my garage by backing in. Wish you could demo doing that. Do I need to have lines on the floor?
thats a great video Alex, I love the new technology.
Thanks!

I'm right there with ya! It's a neat feature but not something I would use often. It's hard to trust technology lol

Thanks! Yes, I can demonstrate this. Are you getting the remote start with the physical key fob or the the remote start through the mysubaru app?

I'll have to dive into this myself. It's nice to have an alert sometime, but the reverse charm seems a bit excessive 😂
Nice feature 👌
How did you get a circular steering wheel?
This was on the first year the Solterra came out. It’s now flat to allow clearance for knees and better visibility of the gauge cluster.
Can the solterra remote park from the app?
Does the newer Outback have this? I never struggle with any parking but my wife always struggles
the Solterra is the only model currently that has this
When you start the car using the phone app, do the doors remain locked or do they automatically unlock?
Yes, the doors will stay locked. If they’re unlocked when you use remote start, the doors will lock automatically.

I think this parking technology in the Solterra would be so helpful for the elderly or eyesight disabled ?
Can it parallel park on the right side as well? what happens if the two parked vehicles are not equally distant from the curb? Is it using the curb or the parked vehicles (street side edge) as a reference? what does it do when attempting to parallel park while traffic is in the street?

Alex , I lease my outback’s and only drive approx 6000 miles per year. So I think the Sollterra is the perfect car for me . Can I lease one ?
Yes, you can lease or purchase just as normal
Hey Alex,

Too bad! We live in California….tooo farrr to go buy New Subaru Outback 2023 Wilderness from you 😢…so we just buy from Subaru Dealer not far from us.
That's ok! Hope you've at least found my videos helpful in learning all about your Subaru!
I would like to connect my iPhone to the car to use Bluetooth to go on line from the car it won’t let me.
Dealer is only way to turn off backup din.
I tried this yesterday on a test drive and the car went up over a curb into grass
Its snowing right now and the ground is white. It will fuck this system up

Really weird to see that steering wheel spin around.
it's an odd feeling while behind the wheel 😅
Too scary!
Gingers are HOT!
lol 😁
This car is not suitable for a person of 6feet plus I tried it myself
NO THANKS, YOU CAN KEEP THAT THING. I’m to old school for that thing. I can do it faster than that thing.
