I wonder why he doesn't play the triad alternate riff after the solo anymore like he did in "Where the Light Is". One of the best sounding riffs of his imo.
Probably because that riff is hard to play on it’s own, let alone sing while playing it. He is probably just making life easier than he used to. I agree though, it is an amazing sounding riff and one of the reasons that version of the song is by far my favorite version.
@@jonathanward6208 He does it on the "Try!" album. Only difference is that he's on a different pickup selection vs. being on the neck pickup, which is what he did in where the light is.
John’s voice seemed a bit more strained that night than usual but this is also a song that is just difficult for him, post-vocal surgeries. I saw an interview where he said he lost a few notes at the top of his range and this and Waiting on the World to Change are songs that are just very hard for him now.
Man that botox surgery in his vocal chords has affected him, guitar skills are on the next level vocals were much better in Where the light is, Love you forever John, wish to see you live in India someday
Pino is the coolest grandpa ever
Dude yes lol
Clap clap clap Mr. Steve Jordan backing vocals on the chorus
Something tells me it wasn’t Pino’s decision to wear that.
Thank you for that spot on comment. haha.
Wakakaka
this sounds so amazing in a phone recording. Imagine how good it sounded live:')
I was there and it was epic
I was there too!

Are there any other instances/recordings where he does that? It’s so sweet

@@jonathanward6208 ruclips.net/video/XlhxG9O54n8/видео.html I believe this is the only other time he ever did it

Man i love when Steve Jordan comes in the vocals
My favourite Trio track! 🎸❤🔥 Love, love, love everything about it! Thank you for recording and posting this. 💯
my favorite John is John on that strat in nike prestos
What an incredible performance!
John's energy is really something, love it!
I love how into playing this song John is. This is why this man is my hero! Long live the trio! Saw them in 2017, best concert of the decade.
Saw this live, it was incredible :) thanks for uploading
dude just looks like hes having fun man
How smart that was from Steve, he knew John needed some help on vocals and gave it to him
It's not unusual for Steve to sing back up vocals for John, his voice was a little croaky that night but I'm sure this would have been planned

Yeah! He said he hates singing Waiting on the world to change! It’s such a high vocal range, even before his surgery.
Great video! Thank you! Love seeing John having such a good time. Mayer's back and better than ever! ♥️
Thank You
Those dance moves🔥
I was there!!! I still can't get over it :')
Thank u, very dank
Damn what an experience simply fucking perfect
1:43 that Mr. Bean move had me 🤣
I’ve never seen pino use any other bass than that pinkish orange one like ever
Pino is famous for playing a fretless sunburst stingray...
John is the best man..
Eric Clapton: I’ve had enough bad love
John mayer: don’t worry, Good love is on the way.
Wished they played this when tour stopped in St Paul
Great! Thanks for uploading!
Epic guitar face at 0:13
It’s just too good
WHEN IS HE TOURING IN FRANCE
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
pity his voice cant handle this song anymore
Man that botox surgery in his vocal chords has affected him, guitar skills are on the next level vocals were much better in Where the light is, Love you forever John, wish to see you live in India someday
His voice is a bit raspy here, normally he sings better!
@@joepsips787 I can account for that as well saw him in New Orleans during this tour and he sounded AMAZING no vocal issues at all
Where the Light Is is going back almost 15 years, singers voices change.
The weird wah faces are just him and everybody else feeling every note.
Steve Jordan is swinging pretty damn hard...
His voice is fried. Must have been a long tour.
Rick Lee his voice is probably still fucked from his vocal problems from years ago as well.
Yeah, probably. It's not as easy as it looks.
@@skylercooper3268 absolutely right...seems to me he should lower this song half a tone. I agree his lower range sounds great.
What did you use to record this? It looks great!
Thanks! I used an olympus stylus 1.
The John Mayer "Ego," uhm, I mean "Trio."
I know it's an old comment but I think when you can do what he does you deserve to have an ego... He's a monster!
@2v_5r and i think even then he was misunderstood mainly because he over-estimated people's intelligence during interviews
