  • The Beatles were the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century. They are the best band that ever was; or ever will be. I made this video in the unlikely case anyone remains unconvinced.

      Thank you sir! I confess I actually enjoy listening to it too. I’m also sending it to people I know who don’t “get” The Beatles. How can anyone hear those songs back to back and not be overwhelmed by their music? Unless they have really bad taste. 😎🎶❤️

    Now that you spoiled us , it would be fantastic making an anthology of every song they sung from beginning to end ! 3 mins isn't enough ! Lot of work but even you would really enjoy it over and over again .. Revolver and yesterday and today were my two favorite albums. Fav song was and still is all you need is love.. ❤️. Wonder how long that would be .. just think ! This was such a a great idea ! Thank you 💖

      This is fantastic idea. If I did all of their songs I’d do it in chronological order of the recording date so it would show their progression from song to song. It would be a huge project but I think I’m gonna try it! Thanks for watching!

    Well Done Jon! Snappy )) Interesting to observe my reaction of wanting each song to continue, and then quickly getting my head into the next one!

      It’s the same experience for me! I can only use about 7 seconds of each song otherwise Apple blocks the video. Thanks for watching!

    I know your very busy, I am however looking forward to that list, one day, of your favorite 20 or 25 Elton deep cuts, keep up the cool videos.

      Oh man, I am so overloaded with work right now! Can’t imagine how much time it takes to produce these videos and keep everything under control. Not to mention the whole social media aspect. If I ever get my channel to the point where it’s generating income I plan to hire someone to handle a lot of the smaller tasks. Then I’ll be able to come up with a list of my top 25 favorite Elton cuts!

      Exactly. Someone challenged me to do it and I found it really fun. I looked through their entire catalog and thought about the best way. I could represent the vast diversity of their music. I think it turned out. Kind of cool. Thanks for watching!

    Nicely compiled! Jon, here is a tough one for you: what is your favourite Beatles album?

    • @JonBlackstone
      @JonBlackstone  4 месяца назад

      That’s impossible for me to answer because each album is totally different! I can say this; Sgt Peppers was not among my favorites until the new remix by Giles Martin. The original mix always sounded less vibrant to my ears due to the number of reduction mixes they did in order to make more tracks available. The new remix is a revelation to me. I can finally hear every layer of sound and how much went into the production and arrangements. So my current favorites are Revolver, Pepper, The Beatles and Abbey Road. I love all their music; but after listening 40 years those are the albums that stand out. I used to say Revolver was my favorite from the 63-66 period and The Beatles was my favorite 67-69 album. But I’ve fallen in love with Pepper again and Abbey Road captures them at their peak musicianship (after a month of playing together all day during the Get Back sessions). So the short answer is I can’t choose! How about you?

      Jon, I figured that it would be next to impossible for you to come up with ONE favourite Beatles album! My favourite, you ask is now THE BEATLES (White album). Years ago early in the new millennium I finally started buying Beatles CDs. I started with 1965's RUBBER SOUL and went chronologically forward through their studio releases to LET IT BE. I listened to each release non-stop for a month and then moved onto the next one and did the same. I was able to appreciate each album as well as the band's musical growth. My favourite then was SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND. It was so cohesive and such a pleasure to listen to. In 2016, I started buying the new remastered and reissued vinyl albums and that is when THE BEATLES became my favourite. It is so rich, so varied, and out-of-the-box, at times, that it is a real treasure. In terms of Elton records, I have a similar appreciation: CAPTAIN FANTASTIC AND THE BROWN DIRT COWBOY is my favourite (just!) and has that cohesiveness and consistency in ways that SGT PEPPER'S does, while BLUE MOVES has that richness, variety, and out-of-the-box creativity in ways that THE BEATLES does. Great music!! @@JonBlackstone

    With the exception of #1, there’s disquietude in every song here.

      I totally agree. There was a lot of melancholy and sadness in the Beatles music. I think the most compelling thing about their music is how human it is. Both musically and lyrically. Thanks for watching!

    very nice! did you have any specific criteria in mind when you picked which songs you included? like, was there at least one pick from each album, year, etc? or did you just pick your favorites?

      Great question! I tried to chose songs that provided an overview of their diversity and brilliance. When I watched it the first time I was almost breathless. It’s crazy that I’ve been listening to this music my entire life and I’m still amazed!
