Fun fact for everyone: The whole eight dog gaurdians (and orbs) are probably referencing Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East. which also inspired the dragon balls for Dragon Ball Z, each orb contains a character for a confusion principal. Princes Fuse is also in the light novel/manga/anime for Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East. (Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong, also i don't know if it's just a light novel, could also be based on a legend)
Hakkenden did base off the story as well of Princess Fuse and the 8 canine warriors. Each character having a respected orb/power. But if you read the actual story/novel of it is different then whats to Okami besides the 8 warriors and the Princess being named Fuse. But Okami is original full of many stories of legends, myths, and folklore. And the game of course was out for the PS2 way before the Hakkenden anime. and i never knew that about dragon ball. is that really true?

This episode was the most epic so far. First Tai the Digimon Master and then the pee stuff. Cry really makes me feel like playing this game again, even though I just played it through a few months ago like 5th time. Damn it. Okami such a great game.

The lifting of the leg when doing business isn't a male dog thing. It's an alpha dog thing. And seeing as Ammy is a god, it makes sense that she's the ultimate alpha. And yes, she's female but the English version tried to make it ambiguous because a female god would be controversial to a mostly Christian audience (Which makes little sense as she's not Jesus so having a different gender than him wouldn't matter?). They don't even hide it that well anyway. You'll see in the Gale Shrine.
Why does everyone assume Amaterasu is male? Even if you don't know the original mythology, the other gods call you "mother to us all" from the beginning. I know that some of the humans make the mistake, but I'd trust the word of a fellow god over that.

Actually, when the 2 alphas in a wolf pack go to mark their territory, the female and male alphas pee like that to also show dominance over the rest of the pack. So Ammy is really showing her dominance over her enemies... by peeing on them.... basically making them her bitches lols.

It's a thing! You piss on enemies to get demon fangs, so it's basically a demon fang dispenser. Now you can theoretically get 2 demon fangs per enemy.
