- GORUCK Events demand a lot from you and your gear. GORUCK gear thrives in abusive environments, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take care of it. Our gear is better when broken in, then cleaned.
2 tips
1) soaking the ruck in some water with baking soda and vinegar for about 30mins will get rid of all your sweat and ocean water stank.
2) get a hose nozzle called “The Little Big Shot.” it’s about $8 at Home Depot and works like a pressure washer. It does miracles and also doesn’t leave soap scum behind like a faucet or traditional nozzle. It’s also made by disabled veterans here in the USA, so that’s cool.
“This is dish soap. This is Murica. Everybody’s got it.”

Is there a way to wash said backpack in winter? Up here in Canada we only have about 3-4 months of weather hot enough to wash/dry anything outdoors. Any tips would be appreciated.
Yeah mate, I take mine in the shower/tub and go to town with the wand and a dedicated washcloth. In leiu of dishsoap, I use Dr. Bronners. Dry inside-out, zippers-open, over the back of a chair with a fan on. Good to go.
