Still don't understand why so many guys insist on cutting the horizontal cut first. Cut the angle cut first, then match the horizontal to it off the corner and get perfect notch every time. That applies to either configuration notch.
It's taught that way in the UK but you're expected to cut the stumps as low as possible & you're not dealing with huge trees like you can get in North America

This guy is talking about clearing the kerf which is understandable in coastal red wood with 1 foot thick bark but this guy is violently shaking the saw in a fir with maybe 1”-2”thick bark it’s smooth face cut smooth level back cut. The government wants to be so safe but yet you have guys like this teaching. Makes absolutely no sense. This is how a lot of young fallers die from not being brought up out in the woods under the right wing.
