The Fredrics were formed in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Vocalist Joe McCargar and guitarist Bob Geis were friends and played in a school band called> . They managed to release a single called< Red Pier> , which gained some local popularity and helped them get a contract with Capitol. The company changed the name of the group to , but something went wrong in their relationship and the contract was terminated. However, they continued to rehearse and soon received an invitation to accompany the duo on a tour of Great Britain when they were touring the United States. But the group did not want to remain in the background. They began touring on their own and on the way to their first concert in Frederic, Michigan, they changed their name to . They soon earned a solid reputation and were trusted to open shows for The Box Tops, Tommy James And The Shondells, and The Yellow Balloon. In 1968, the quintet's only longplay was released on the Forte Records label.
user, hello, It's interesting how the vocalist and guitarist chose almost the same name of their school band for the name of The Fredric"s only album. Cheers
