    I remember hearing later on that Steve Johnson decided to go with a soft resr tire on Eddie's last pit stop - that was a great call on Steve's part- one of the greatest crew chiefs ever

    This just makes me realize how sad the state of the AMA is these days and hope it gets back to it's former glory. Pretty much with the lack of TV coverage it is now just a high dollar club racing series. Thanks for the post, fun to watch the old school bike and riders.

    Dean, thanks for posting all these old school videos! Having just been at the 2013 "Daytona 200", I too feel that the race and series in general is barely just a shadow of its former self. The 2013 field was so thin and wasn't even much of a race after the first 5 laps. I was encouraged that the crowds were bigger than last year, when I looked around and just wondered if there would be a 2013 race. Don't know what it will take but I hope 2-wheel racing worldwide can come back!

    I watched Eddie's last pit stop and remembered the team's decision to put a soft tire on for last few laps which DEFINITELY gave Eddie the advantage needed to hunt down Scott, but who knows who would have actually won if it wasn't for Chuck Graves taking Scott's line away in the chicane - as fast as that 0W01 was, he probably won the drag race to the finish line regardless

    5:22 Looks like the 2016 winner and 2017 podium finisher started 17th when he was... 23 or so back in 1993.

    Well, no, Speed is only covering Daytona this year and the XR1200 class at Indy MotoGP.
    They did just announce a 2 year contract to cover all the races on CBS Sports Network so all is not lost.

    Shows the power of factory and semi factory privateers Colin n Edwards is fighting for 27 th place. If he started on pole the factory bikes would blow his stickers off on the banking

    Well, SPEED does cover all the AMA superbike and sportbike races in tape-delay and some LIVE races too, I'm not sure about AMA supersport

    Jamie James got hurt before this race and Eddie Lawson came out of retirement to take his place on the Vance & Hines fz750. Eddie won, later he said the fz750 was so fast.

    I believe you're right. I've been on Daytona several times with an MV Agusta F4 and Crossplane R1, and while it's an extremely fast track, the banking does scrub speed. Monza, Mugello and even the older SBK-spec Nurburgring circuit would have a higher V-Max at the end of their longest straights, as they are truly straights.

    What the announcer say, ' they use that knee like a tricycle's third wheel', holy $hit, what a knucklehead comment, too funny.

    I still believe Russell would have been closer if he didn't display his emotions with the lapped rider in the final corner. He should have ignored the rider but he had to look over at him and then tuck in

    Names I can recognize: Scott Russell, Raymond Roche, Aaron Slight, Eddie Lawson, Akira Yanagawa, Miguel Duhamel, Steve Hislop, Doug Polen, Shawn Higbee, Colin Edwards and Jason Pridmore. How the fuck do names like Hizzy, Polen, Edwards and Pridmore start soooo far back!?

  • @DiegoRuiz1991
    @DiegoRuiz1991 11 лет назад +1

    Correct me if I'm wrong but, when it comes to top speed, I don't think the Daytona roadcourse is the fastest World-class track in the World. Monza, Mugello, Montmelo and others look to be faster when it comes to top speed

  • @DiegoRuiz1991

    One of the problems is the rulebook. They're using classes NO ONE uses. Your SBK aren't like the WSBK or even the BSB SBK class, the SSP class isn't true SSP either and then there's the stupid "sportbike" class. If you had World-class rulings, you'd had a ton more riders and teams for sure, specially in a special event like the Daytona 200
