    This is the best video I see from this channel and deserve much more upvotes. All the gameplay video are like showing other people eating a fish. A guide on how to execute a BO is like giving other people a fish. But this video is to tell you how to fish yourself. The MINDSET on a certain situation of a pro player is truely what tells them apart from the amateurs .Why does not a pro player panic seeing a tower rush -- because 1. he saw it 1000 times already, it's like you see an egg on a breakfast menu, what's surprising? 2. Because he knows 3 ways to deal with it, all he needs to evaluate is which way is more effecient.
    The summary of how all civs should deal with early barrack / tower rush is truely valuable. I would learn this same stuff after playing 200 games or watching 100 replays/vods, but this summary just casually explained it in 5 mins. I wish this channel shows more about the methodology or mindset on various situations. E.g. how to deal with trading for each civ etc.

    Actually perfect advice tbqh. When I first got the game I played a bunch of ranked to learn, ended up at silver, then went on to playing nothing but Nomad FFA for months. It actually taught me a lot about how things work at the macro level, booming, late game, etc. I even won a few nomad games. HOWEVER, I felt actually afraid to go back to 1v1's because every mistake is so costly and nobody is there to save you (or of course ruin you too). This advice makes me want to really buckle down and learn and get to a high rank. Thanks

    It being okay to not know something as long as you are willing to improve is advice useful everywhere in life (and not just in AoE4).
    Most people complain about things without willing to change a single thing about their approach. Either stop complaining or change something. I swear they just do it for the ego trip.
    And guess what? "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

    As a French main/noob I totally agree with ignoring the mongol tower rush. If it’s shooting arrows I just make sure no units or villagers are in the range of fire and I keep focusing on making fuedal knights and archers. Even if it’s shooting at my land mark it does so little damage that I can just repair the land mark while I’m doing damage to his economy

    Good video
    problem with this is that there is no textbook to consult in AoE4
    you can learn from streams; you can learn from watching vods through aoe4world, but to a layman, they wouldnt (myself included) be able to or have no tools to judge if the response was the most optimal option available, or the availability of such a replay is so scarce to begin with.

    • @vartosu11
      @vartosu11 12 дней назад

      Most RTS games have stats screens and graphs you can analyze, or watch recordings and learn from that (even if it's a recording from only your perspective).
      For a new/fresh game, the initial "good/pro players" didn't get there because they had an external guide or resource available to them to consult, most got there through putting in the time, not just mindlessly spamming games, but experimenting and trying to break down and learn from the games they played.
      What happens after a game has been in a stable state for some time, "metas" start to form, the good players will eventually have their strategies broken down and analyzed (or they themselves explain how and why their decisions work) and you get guides that more easily allow newer players or those who didn't initially dedicate the time/effort to experiment, to potentially catch up, their learning curve can be highly accelerated by accessing these new sources of information.
      BUT!
      If you consider yourself a layman/casual, and you wouldn't usually "go out of your way" to consult external resources or make an effort at improving on your own, you should at the very least lower your expectations... It's perfectly fine to have long, drawn out, janky games in silver or whatever low rank you get, as long as you're having fun with the game. Rank is just a means for the game to try to match you with others of similar skill level. If you're NOT willing (or able) to commit time or effort on improving at the game, via experimenting, researching, etc. at least don't expect that somehow you'll surpass other players that do.

    In matchup Japanese vs Ottoman, or HRE vs Ottoman, i'm usually very ahead of the opponent in economy, but don't manage to kill their base (because of defensive mangonel and janissaries). At some point when i reach 200 pop, it seems like they have a huge advantage because they dont need as many villagers, they start spamming janissaries maa and great bombard i really dont understand why i lose even with twice the amount of villagers. Is there a good counter to this? No matter if i try to eco boom or be more agressive at the start I can't figure out that matchup even if im ahead until imperial or when it reaches 200 pop. I don't have any issue against any other matchup, except maybe a bit malian which i feel like the 200 pop is also an issue because they dont need as many villagers.

    • @IskoJakobsson

      U don't need to kill their landmarks and tc. Just deny resources. Dive the wood line. Deny food sources, raid their gold etc.

    • @ShadowMasterT
      @ShadowMasterT 13 дней назад +1

      I recently had a team match, 3v3, I was Japanese, and the opponent right next to me was Ottoman. Naturally, I went fast-castle into Mounted Samurai, as I was relatively unscathed.
      Since my other teammates were French (Knights), and the other was Delhi with raiders and lancers, the Ottoman player opted for Jannisaries, as it’s a great counter. But other than the knights for raiding, I was already transitioning into Onna Bugeisha and Samurai. The Janissaries dropped like flies, and since he had no crossbowmen, he was at an immediate disadvantage.
      I didn’t immediately destroy his base, but I wasn’t planning on it - I wanted to do massive damage that would put me at an advantage.
      So don’t think about winning in one go - think about how to gain an advantage. Go out on the map for resources, deny resources for your opponent, and adjust your composition. He spams Janissaries and MAA? Focus on archers and crossbowmen. Heck, focus on MAA, both Japanese and HRE have better ones than Ottoman, you’ll trade better.
      You can’t transition fast enough, or didn’t do it on time? That’s okay, you learn from this experience and write down HOW you can better prepare next time. Maybe scout earlier, maybe you sat on a lot of wood that can give you 2-3 more production buildings. Spam some cheaper units that might not win, but at least they buy you time.
      It’s not easy, it takes time (Heck, I’m terrible at this game myself, I often panic and lose a lot of idle time), but you’ll be able to find your pace :)

    Hi, as a beginner I have a question. Right now I mainly play against bots because I don't feel confident for multiplayer yet. Most of my games go to imperial, should I do as you say? Stop and restart at the end of castle age? Or is it normal because bots just don't surrend, even if behind? Please let me know if you have any tips.

    • @franciszekwalczak5903
      @franciszekwalczak5903 8 дней назад

      If you are beginner I would advise to pick the civ, watch a build order video (for example done by Beasty) and practice it against AI until you remember it and don’t need to look what to do next. Then as quickly as you achieve your early goal - for example Fast Castle, two Town Center make units and use them - you don’t need super big army in Feudal or Castle. Learn to use resources to not float with them - if you have too much gold make upgrades, if too much wood build production.

    • @ShadowMasterT
      @ShadowMasterT 13 дней назад +5

      You don’t need them, and the base game offers plenty - 10 out of the 16 civilizations are in the base game, and of those remaining civs, 4 are variants that although are very different, for the purpose of picking your civilization to match your style, you can gloss over them.
      Which brings me to my actual point - two of the best beginner friendly civilizations, English and French, are from the base game. I suggest you start with them to learn the basics of the game. They are simple and effective.
      Once you get a grasp about the game, then try to find your main civilization, the one that matches your preferred style. Each has its strong points. They also have their weaknesses - but if you’re having fun, you’ll gladly keep playing and learn how to overcome your weaknesses. If you’re frustrated, pick a different civ.
      And THEN, if you think “Actually, I think THIS civ is the best for me personally”, and that civ happens to be part of the DLC, and you’re already enjoying the game enough to know that extra money won’t go to waste - THEN feel free to add the DLC :)

      Traditional wisdom says if they're going to rush you likely have to respond with units of your own, realistically horsemen and archers to try and counter their units. It's a tough strat to beat though, I'm definitely no expert so this is all with a grain of salt.

    • @aepstein824
      @aepstein824 13 дней назад +1

      Idk if I'm any better, but try this. One stable into one archery range, second archery range as soon as you can fully produce out of the first two. Micro the horses to run around threatening the bows but not letting them get hit by the spears. Only once your archers have killed the spears do you send in the horsemen.

    • @michalmakalous3275
      @michalmakalous3275 13 дней назад +1

      As former Otto main - my advice is actually to skip military schools completely for the opener. Go fast Feudal, 2 archery ranges, mass arches, have +1 attack and +1 armor and your ok 8 games out of 10 against longbow rush. When you defend fthe initial pressure, build up military schools, sipahi and start playing your game

  • @kingsgambit7098
    @kingsgambit7098 2 дня назад

    While I do appreciate the examples of different variations for optimization, I don't think this is a good approach for teaching those who are getting into rts games. Pro players have a habit of being too precise. What ppl are looking for is a practical way to play. After all, you really shouldn't lose in a strategy game for a single mistake. That would defeat the whole purpose in it being a strategy. You should only be at a disadvantage.
    This is like me explaining positional play in chess to a novice player. Even though it is the most accurate way to play the game, it is completely beyond their level of understanding. Even to a Grand Master the advantages are minor. Instead, you introduce them into tactics and checkmate patterns. We also have material value to show the reasonable trades of pieces. This is not an accurate description as the value of each piece changes based on the nature of the position, but it is the most common and very basic view.
    One example of this for rts games is the rock, paper, scissors mechanic. Even though dynamics would tell you that quantity beats quality and the resource advantage changes the intentions with trades. However, the most basic point of view is the interactions between each military unit. Another one would be ideal villager count within each age. Obviously, this wouldn't be an accurate description for many different reasons, but I'm willing to bet that there is a common number reached.
    I honestly don't believe pro players are that great at the game themselves because they don't seem to be able to break it down into some of the most basic concepts. How different would the game be if you mirrored your opponent's army? Would you talk about micro or would you refer players into positioning on the map and potential formations? Is it possible that micro in itself has limited the games potential? How high up on the ladder do you see players just play with one army with no micro? I'm willing to bet that this is an area that hasn't even begun development as pro gamers seem to get tunnel vision by their understanding of the game's mechanics.
    I hope that this helps. I would like to see some very practical advice. I am more of a chess player myself, but I do believe that rts games are the future of strategy games. Chess has dominated that field for centuries, but with a large number of improvements from the devs perspectives and the players I believe that rts games will take that title in a couple of decades.

    Great video, but being honest with all when i get tower rush i quit, even if now i have the answer to deal with it, I dont care and i dont like play against that "mechanic", its a game killer for me, its not skills, its not macro/micro its just bad for aoe specially for newbies/mid ranks. And again even if now i know the answer, in my mind takes too much resources just to deal a tower in my base that cost 100wood. You need blacksmith, with technology, make the ram and kill it, better i quit
