  • Thank you for joining us on this trip report!
    Come and join us on this Iberia flight to New York!
    It’s my first time flying with long haul with them since 2010, when I flew the A340-300 to Miami. While I love the A340, theirs had no IFE or entertainment on board besides the general screen.
    Much had changed since then I am very happy to share that with you!
    Today we are showcasing you the following flight:
    From: Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, Kingdom of Spain
    To: New York JFK International Airport, New York, United States of America
    Airline: Iberia Lineas Aéreas Españolas
    Flight Number: IB6251
    Aircraft Type: Airbus A350-999
    Registration: EC-NIG
    Flight Time: 07:33
    Don’t forget to like and subscribe if you enjoyed our video!
    Feel free to leave a comment with your opinion and feedback.
    Have a nice one!

    A super informative flight experience…. IB has certainly improved very much, although having flown them since I arrived on this earth, I’ve always felt at home flying them and thrilled we had the A340/346 and now the 330,s and 350 on the London route since I was at school in the 90’s. Estoy deseando viajar con IB a Nueva York in dia👍

      Gracias Nacho!
      They did improve a lot! Last time I enjoyed this much with them was in the 1990’s between BCN and AMS. They still offered by then a full meal in Economy Class, had some funny video’s playing on the tv’s and I was always welcome to land and take off in the cockpit😁.
      I miss the A340’s though! Thanks for watching!

    Great video! Loved your recollections of Iberia! I flew Iberia, as a kid, in 1973. My parents were Gallegos, so summers were about time with our Galician family.
    The routing was JFK - MAD - SCQ and always on a 747, transatlantic. Although I believe one year we flew nonstop JFK - SCQ?
    The music was ALWAYS present albeit somewhat different? Think more of an old school Gypsy Kings😏
    Spain has changed and is more integrated into the EU and the world.
    Touché to the marketing success of Spain 🇪🇸
    Cheers!

      @TheLayoverAviation  2 года назад +2

      What a beautiful memory, thanks for sharing!
      It would not surprise me they flew the B747 transatlantic from Santiago de Compostela, there was a very large exodus of Gallegos to the America’s. So much, that as you likely know, Spaniards are still called “Gallegos” :)
      What a plane Iberia’s B747 was! So much fuzz about flying it. Pilots and cabin crew were dead proud and so were the passengers.
      And yes, Spain is way more integrated now, those are the correct words. In just a matter of 10 years. Looking forward to the future!
      See you around!

    Cada vez más sorprendido y entretenido con tus vídeos... Son una auténtica inmersión en la experiencia de vuelo! Hay detalles como lo que explicas sobre la ventanita de la puerta de emergencia (wide angle); o los sonidos del sistema hidráulico, luces, logística, procedimientos, etc... en los que nunca había indagado suficiente para encontrarles explicación pero que llevaba observando desde pequeño, y tus reportajes me están enseñando muchísimo! (El enigma de los spoilers ligeramente levantados en los 787s sigue sin resolverse (?) Tengo curiosidad!).
    En cuanto al producto de largo radio de IB, está prácticamente irreconocible comparado con lo que era en los 2010s... salvo la música a todo trapo tan molesta! Veo además que tuviste una buena experiencia con la tripulación, me alegro mucho! Espero que la tendencia esté cambiando por fin en Iberia. Por lo general, no solo por experiencia propia sino en muchísimas opiniones, reseñas y flight reports, las tripulaciones y el servicio a bordo dejan mucho que desear en IB. Es una verdadera pena que no vayamos a ver más los A340-600 de IB :(
    Disculpa por el comentario tan extenso... ¡son muchas emociones! En definitiva: enhorabuena por tu contenido y a seguir volando alto! Un abrazo :)

      Muchísimas gracias por tu comentario, amigo! Que honor!
      Es precisamente porque de pequeño quería saber que eran o significaban todos los sonidos y artilugios que ahora me encanta compartirlo con todos aquellos que eran/son como yo.
      Me alegro que hayas podido aprender algo de los reportajes, espero poder compartir muchísimos detalles más!
      Si, el largo radio de Iberia esta completamente irreconocible y tengo ganas de explorar más ya que en este vuelo estaba muy cansado.
      Es cierto que Iberia tenía cierta fama hace unos años, yo tenía la impresión que los tripulantes volando los vuelos de largo radio tenían una actitud “privilegiada” pero me alegro que la empresa ha dado un giro de 180 grados y se ha concentrado en modernizar y competir en este nuevo mercado.
      Cierto que no volvamos a ver el A340-600.. Pero creo que en Lufthansa regresarán, intentaré volar uno allí 😁.
      Me ha encantado leer tu comentario, muchas gracias por ello nuevamente. Si tienes cualquier otra curiosidad o pregunta, aquí estoy!
      Un abrazo!
      pd. El enigma del B787 sigue sin resolverse.. En cuanto vuele un B787 intentaré preguntarles a los pilotos..

    The moment of greatest stress for apprehensive passengers occurs during takeoff and landing, therefore the use of calm music can reduce nervousness. For this reason, IBERIA activates background music. Yes, it is true that depending on the musical tastes of each one, it can increase stress 😂. Otherwise great video. Saludos

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  2 года назад

      Increases stress, hahahah good one🤣
      Like British Airways’s “Flower Duet” addiction..
      Thank you very much for this very understandable reason. It actually makes very much sense now to me. This clearly shows how everything in aviation does have a reason ☝️.
      It must be something common to Spanish aviation as quite some other Spanish airlines used to have it when I flew them in the 90’s - 2000’s.
      Other airlines use music but mostly for boarding.
      Thanks again, learned something new.

    Brilliant video. Quick question: How do you film such clear and stable footage from the window, especially during takeoff? Previously I've tried holding my camera with my hands against the window, but the vibration makes the footage unusable and just makes my hand ache. Any tips would be very helpful. Thanks

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  2 года назад

      Hey Sajana, no tricks! Some people have some phone/camera holder to stick on the windows, I just stabilize it with my hands. I don’t touch the windows with the camera as they vibrate.
      It takes some practice but I kind of know when to expect certain movements, such as touchdown, braking, rudded movements etc and this I focus extra hard on stabilizing then.
      All the best!

      It’s a busy travel season so tickets will be quite more expensive now. I highly recommend Delta and Iberia between these two cities, Delta being the one offering the most beverages, everything else is pretty much great. Have fun!

    Yes, its true. Iberia always think in Madrid. We are a global country where a lot of airlines invest in Mallorca, Ibiza, Tenerife, Malaga, Barcelona or Alicante. But Iberia just serve Madrid. This is the mind of the workers in Iberia, and this is the reason why spanish from other cities prefer other airlines like Vueling, Ryanair, Easyjet, etc

    • @alfrredd
      @alfrredd 2 года назад +2

      Iberia thinks of Madrid beacuse it's its main hub, it's also the flag carrier of Spain which means they are always located in the countries major city/capital, just like Air France in Paris, British Airways in London, etc. Airlines like Vueling or LEVEL are in Barcelona because they cater to the leisure and low-cost traveler instead of the business travelers like Iberia.

    • @purificacionromano6909
      @purificacionromano6909 2 года назад

      @@alfrredd Spain is not like England or France, where have 1 big city. Spain is more like countries where have more cities than Germany (Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin..), Italy (Rome, Milan, Venice, etc). Iberia must be more in other cities like Barcelona, Mallorca or Malaga. But is too late now because there are other airlines which the locals prefer

    • @alfrredd
      @alfrredd 2 года назад +1

      @@purificacionromano6909 Well, Madrid is 4 times bigger than the next city and Barcelona is 3x bigger than the 3rd and 4th biggest cities so... there aren't a lot of big cities like in Germany where many cities have similar population. Anyway, Iberia DOES link EVERY Spanish city with an airport to the main hub or regional HUB Málaga Barcelona or Mallorca. There's also LEVEL which connects BCN to the US and America and Vueling which connects regional Spanish hubs to Europe; and they are all from the same company: IAG.

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for your comment Purificación! You know what I mean.
      The opportunity that they have lost to other airlines from other countries is massive by leaving Barcelona and all other busy Spanish airports, specially to Easyjet, Wizzair and Ryanair.

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  2 года назад +2

      Madrid and Barcelona were the number 5 and 6 busiest airports in Europe, with Palma and Malaga being very high in the ranking too. One can’t deny that the missed opportunity to others is very big and non recoverable. They tried to join the party with Clickair, Level and by buying Vueling but alas, late.
      Yes, all is now IAG but it still is huuuge lost business to others.
      Lufthansa had a system that works with a dual base (FRA & MUC), Spain had the potential for the same.
      Yes, Iberia serves almost all Spanish airports, but mostly as a feeder to Madrid.
      But hey, things like these keep aviation interesting! It’s nice to be able to share our thoughts and opinions.

    One day I wanted to know why they play the music and I asked an asafato and he told me that it is for stressed people to relax

      Asafato, you made my day😂

    On Trustpilot Iberia scores next to nothing for their apparent terrible onboard service and generally poor customer service. Can anyone relate, please?
