Apologies to any Grusin fans who subscribed to me as I seem to have neglected you. I just happen to like this piece. I do plan on uploading another from The Firm in the next few months and one jazz style film score from John Williams. So please stick around 😀. In the meantime you may like this piece of mine. Realmente asombroso.
Thankyou for taking the time to comment. There are a few videos that don’t include the improv and solo bits but I wanted to stay true to the original so I transcribed everything
This piece seems to be getting a bit of love recently. I always meant to return to this movie or this style….any suggestions. I do Like Memphis Stomp and How could you lose me
Hi, A major Grusin lover here (and I've only just learnt of your channel). Please could you try more of him? Suggestions include anything from the soundtracks of Tootsie, Falling in Love, Racing With The Moon, The Champ, The Fab Baker Boys and Random Hearts. My favourite of his is the St. Elsewhere theme though that's not jazz/blues. Of course, I have many others but they might not be in the style you're looking for. And it's definitely How Could You Lose Me. Finally, this video was a treat. Thanks.
@@humbledandgrateful7411 you’re welcome. To be honest my style is quite varied feel free to check out my other videos you may find something you love. I will look at some of those other movie scores you suggested and see if anything takes my fancy
I relearned this piece recently after not playing it for 22 yrs. I like the way you play it - slow, as it was intended to be played, with nuanced motifs throughout. Difficult piece, for sure.
Thanks. This was my first video and it kinda got me back into playing the piano took me maybe 6 months to learn, listening back now after a few years I can spot a few mistakes.
Most people don’t notice mistakes and that’s fine but I wouldn’t say they are dumb. I see it as people want different things from music and this largely has to do with the place….from a concert hall to a car radio or a nightclub. People are looking for different emotions. In a nightclub nobody would care if a note was wrong but in a concert hall that’s a different story. Long story short I believe as a listener the more you put in, the more you get out.
@@ATK1984 It’s basically 4 groups of triplets. Easiest way if you count like 123…123….123…123. You’ll hear what I mean better in my Westworld main title video.
Have fun. When I was younger (like ages ago) I had the music book for this movie so I tried lots of them….I love memphis stomp. I wasn’t as good at playing as I am now and as I look back I realised the book wasn’t the greatest arrangements of these pieces which is why I did Rays Blues myself. I might give a few other pieces a go now you mention it thanks
I know the feeling! Nice piano too. My piano teacher has the same make - presumably digital with the hammer effect? I have a Yamaha CSP 170 - next upgrade will be a digital one with hammer action and not necessarily a Yamaha. Look forward to hearing some more tunes. Regards.
A really nice, sensitive version Daniel. So many people just play the version from the piano soundtrack score without the improvisations. Where did you get the sheet music from, or did you transcribe it yourself? Excellent interpretation. Thank you for sharing.
kjwalke thanks. I had 2 copies of the score. The official one from the book and one that I found on music notes. To be honest both contained inaccuracies, so I used bits from both scores and transcribed the rest myself.
Daniel, I tried to reply to the RUclips email but I’m not convinced it got to you. If you could send a pdf to kevinwalkemusic@live.co.uk that would be perfect. Thank you, and thanks again for sharing your talent.
Thanks for the score! I have the book from the soundtrack but I was disappointed when I got through the first bit and discovered the ‘improvise on repeat’. I’m a novice and can’t do that, so I stalled :(
Same here. I actually have 2 different versions of the book. got them in 90’s but wasn’t as good on piano then. As I’ve got older I realised most of the pieces arent transcribed perfectly. I think now I was at a place where I needed to arrange it properly. I really want to do the last piece……how could you lose me, but I swear he’s overlayed 2 piano tracks in there and it’s stumping me a bit
That’s a nice dream to follow. The book version is still a great piece…..just the CD version sounds fuller like there’s some extra rhythm going on in the left hand
@@AlmostAviation I have finally pencilled out an arrangement I’m happy with of ‘How could you lose me’. Gonna require a lot of practice so hopefully later this year
Well played! Love the sound of that Kawai!

Love this 🎵🎶❤

Very nice and bluesy playing, a very faithful interpretation
Man, this melody is very awesome and soothing.....All praise.
thanks Nidhi, glad you like it
Beautiful playing mate, well done!! The sound quality of this recording is amazing. 👌🏼🎶
Cheers mate. It’s a digital piano so it records a wav file straight to my computer. My first comment from an Aussie. Is blues big over there?
@@DGPianoUK Hi Daniel, Yeah we love the blues over here!.. Enjoyed some of your other vids too, keep up the good work mate. All the best!
