- John Newton | Full Movie | Jonathan Aitken | Brian H. Edwards | Tony Baker
This documentary explores Newton’s life from his turbulent youth to his involvement in the 18th century African slave trade, his dramatic conversion aboard a sinking ship and on through his remarkable ministry as an evangelistic preacher, hymn writer and abolitionist.
The words of the Apostle Paul in I Timothy 1:15 no doubt resonated with John Newton. As a person who had grown up in the church under the tutelage of a very godly mother and who later became a faithless rebel, Newton may have felt he was “the worst.” But if his story teaches us anything, it is to never give up on anyone no matter how far they seem to be from the Kingdom. As Newton’s most famous hymn says, “Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.” This documentary, featuring interviews with Newton scholars Brian H. Edwards, Jonathan Aitken and Tony Baker, thoroughly explores Newton’s life from his turbulent youth to his involvement in the 18th century African slave trade, his dramatic conversion aboard a sinking ship and on through his remarkable ministry as an evangelistic preacher, hymn writer and abolitionist. This fast-paced and insightful documentary serves as an excellent teaching tool and will inspire viewers to take hold of God’s amazing grace.

Luke 5:32
I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Amen Ithaca it is true the words of John Newton talking about us being a great sinner that we are indeed when we are lost in sin before Jesus Christ sets us free from sin.
Amazing Grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like Me.!
I once was lost but now I'm found. Was blind but now I see.
Twas Grace that taught my heart to fear . and Grace my fears relieved .
How precious did thy Grace appear the hour I first believed.!
The beauty of this story is that all men can be redeemed. His rejection of Christianity and then embracing it along with rejecting slavery. Amazing story of Amazing Grace!
I praise my God for the life and testimony of John Newton, a man who has inspired me to go on in faith, trusting Him alone. Thank you for telling the story. Kathleen Vick
To Carol B: So true! Swat a fly, and the whole world sings, "Amazing Grace". But the world cannot comprehend the meaning of the wonderful sacred poem Newton left to us. And yet we know, that as the children of God are drawn into the Kingdom of God, by His amazing grace, many blessed souls WILL come to understand the sentiment expressed. How amazing is the electing love of our covenant-keeping God, Redeemer, Husband, Brother and Friend.
AMEN!!!!!!!
I'll have to comment on the modern use of Amazing Grace. I was in my late teens when Judy Collins put out her popular version, and I always looked on that song as "the world's" idea of a hymn. Throughout the decades, it was always put out in the popular media as a song sung at sort of religious events by people who had no religious leanings at all. So sad, when it is such a fine hymn. A wonderful biography.
On the contrary I think its wonderful. Gods word is on their lips, even if they don't realise or know what they're singing
Great and enlightening documentary!
Thank you.
Oh lord please save me in this world iam so sinner
1 Samuel 3:21
And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh: for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the LORD.
This verse is my next favorite verse in the Scriptures today I love it very much.
That is an Amazing Story.
I love how the words by Newton are forever married with the music of slaves.
Amazing Grace 👏

Most curious as to the 'sources' that make this a 'documentary'... Not sure of what 'titles' that the author has written.. Fiction or Factual?... Reference to J.R.R. Tolkein opens my eyes to the incredulous part which mentions the 'ring in Venice'.. It does serve as an excellent 'analogy' though. The song that resulted from this 'biography' has been inspirational to more than a few; myself included. I've sung it at many funerals and it has had the heart wrenching effect that most experience when faced with mortal loss.
Enhorabuena, por el documento

The wealthy cork actually request because clam prudently breathe by a irate hardboard. assorted, delightful sleep
If he was alive now he could do a little research and find out Jesus never even existed, he was the Harry Potter of his day around 1900 years ago.
in the same way if he were alive today he could do research and see that Jesus did actually exist. The human mind is a funny thing, it can justify anything thats why at times we have to listen to what you feel in your heart and not of our mind. But as in the days when white people saw black people as no different from animals, your heart can be influenced by what your eyes see around you. In other words as Newton song mentioned you are Blind
