I had a few of them in a couple of hives.
Where I live in west central Louisiana the cecadas aren't bad at all. I really enjoy your videos. Have 45 hives of my own that keep me plenty busy..
They are out in droves and loud to boot. An annoyance, but the birds are happy.
My dogs like to play with them 😆
South Carolina and I think I heard one last evening….just one. Haven’t seen a single one yet. Weird.
Cicadas are not dangerous and can provide some environmental benefits including: Cicadas are a valuable food source for birds and other predators. Cicadas can aerate lawns and improve water filtration into the ground. Cicadas add nutrients to the soil as they decompose. Per the EPA.
They do make a lot of noise so they should add noise pollution on that list too!
We went thru the bank atm in town, and they were everywhere, bouncing off the truck, crawling all over the driveway. Had to quickly roll up the window else they would have gotten in the truck. Then we went to the feed store and as we walked in one landed on hub's shoulder. At least the chickens, turkeys and guineas sure seem to be enjoying them.

Cicadas don't bore into trees. Bores bore into trees. Cicadas come from the soil. Absolutely harmless except to your ears.
Nope...the female lays her eggs in the tree. Wont hurt large trees but young freshly planted ones it can devastate. Then the grubs drop into soil and eat roots
Female cicadas lay their eggs in small holes in the branches of trees and shrubs, using an egg-laying appendage called an ovipositor. They can lay 200-400 eggs in a single batch, and may repeat the process multiple times as they move down the stem.
They are “bad” they just want to mate.
We have none yet everywhere around us lucky
I'm curious to ask if you think the humidity affects how much the hive beetles can get in the colonies? Or if there's some connection there between them.
