Yes this was a new one on me at the time of filming. For even more precise application you can also use a piece of solder wire and dip that into the superglue for tiny amounts. If you see my later videos I do that there. Thanks for watching :)
I.N. I am in awe of your skill. Not only in your builds, but the detail you capture in your weathering. I've never seen anything that good anywhere. You're expert detailing has opened up modelling for me in a way that I haven't felt as excited about since I was a kid
Great to see a modelling video where someone actually narrates the techniques that they're using rather than just playing music through the whole thing. Fantastic result too. Well done.
Great video! Beautiful job! I especially liked the worn, winter whitewash paint. This might be the nicest, most realistic finish I've ever seen! I'm glad I came across your application of white glue and the micro balloons for snow effects. I've had a big bag of micro balloons, for years, that I've been saving for a snow diorama and now I'm inspired to use it! Thank you for this video!
Thank you! I don't seem to get the same credit as some of the other channels on here which is a shame because I put a lot of time an effort into both capturing good footage and making the videos enjoyable. However I am very grateful for the views and comments I receive. I realise that a following of over 40k is still quite substantial and I appreciate people like and enjoy the work I put in. Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoyed the video. More coming soon :)
@@TheInnerNerd I totally agree with you, your videos are made very professionelly and look like you put a lot of effort in it. And also your models Look just fantastic. Thank you
@@TheInnerNerd That is true, however, I noticed that your channel name would be a problem for some. What do you think? :) Edit: Maybe changing the profile photo for any model related image thing would be a good idea!
Yes I can see that too since it doesn’t mention anything to do with a plastic model anywhere... To be honest when I started the channel I never thought it would get this big, so for me the name dint have to be limited to just modelling. But here we are with almost 45k subscribers and I’m a little stuck 😂 A total rebrand would be social media suicide I think as the branding that I have now is the one in which the majority of my followers recognise (it was different to this before I hit about 5,000 subs) so not sure if people would understand it’s still me. I will look into changing the name to The Inner Nerd Scale Modelling though so it’s a more descriptive. A mouthful yes but as text would make more sense. The logo is a difficult one. I chose this one since that is actually my silhouette inside the rings - therefore by definition, The Inner. Also the colours are the RAF roundel. I am British and make mainly aircraft models so relating this back to my home countries’ airforce ties in the logo nicely. Simple aircraft illustrations have been done by almost all the other channels so I feel that would be just falling into line with the norm and not really stand out. Plus I’d have to limit myself to my favourite aircraft, which is impossible because I don’t just have one 😂. One of the concept design I made was of several but on such a small screen like a phone, you couldn’t see the details and the logo looked incredibly messy. Rebranding is tough and something you don’t get a second chance at. But I understand that it could help non-subscribers understand what the channel is. It’s tricky. *If anyone reading this has any suggestions for a logo I’d be happy to hear, who knows, you might even inspire the next one!* 🙂😎
@@TheInnerNerd the logo is a fantastic idea! Man, I'm building this model right now while on deployment, and I have nothing in terms of tools and accessories like you. Great job! This must be Sherman weekend. You, Panzermeister, and Uncle Night Shift all have done Shermans this weekend. You did a damn good job on the tracks. Looked to be very fiddly. You ended up with a very fine result. Good show, my friend!
well i can honestly say to my mind thats the BEST sherman i have seen built on any channel !! and i watch loads :) wonderful work of art mate i really enjoyed the tracks !! i couldnt see a problem :) keep it up bud !

It’s a very unusual vehicle. The kit itself is of the best quality. It has the fit and simplicity of a Tamiya kit and the detail of a Takom. The photoetch is a tad tricky, however.
The white was mainly applied with a mop. It ranged from special paint to house paint and some depots used plaster and added in wallpaper glue. It wasn't a sprayed on paint. Most aircraft didn't even get paint in theatre because supplies were very hard to get 7,000 miles from home. Thank you for the video. The plaster mud was very informative. Great model mate (as per). I too want to do a winter-weathered Sherman so this will definitely be my video for reference 👍 Plus the comedy tracks made me laugh 🤣
Thank you and that's great if you want to use this as reference! Those tracks really took it out of me (reason for the lack of duckbills). Had to include the bloopers there to show it doesn't all go to plan on camera - far from it!. Thanks for watching
Nice video! I liked the distressed painting technique with the fiber pad, it resembles the technique shown by Martin Kovac but in an easier way, good job!
Thank you! And yes it's a very easy method I find even though it looks a time consuming method. I've not seen the one by Kovac but there are a few different ways to get a mottled effect. I like this the most and glad you enjoyed too 👍
I’m a bit older than you I think. I’m retired with illness and hoping modelling will fill some time for me. My dad was in a Sherman in Africa and Italy. He said that when small arms rounds hit the outside it would send a bit of paint off the inside which would sting if it hit bare skin.
Well done, you made a great job of what looks like a tricky kit. I’ve learned a great deal about armour modelling from this video- i.e. don’t pick the Meng Sherman as my first tank kit!
haha I laughed when he said that, he did say it was a failure in breaking away from the detail of aircraft modelling, clearly the finished tank itself looks great
Haha thank you. And yes as @Adam Thompson said, it was meant to be an easy project that didn't take too long to break up the repetition of the aircrfat models I'd been making. Looking at the work I put into this one I definately failed at that! Thank you for watching :)
Total failure? I don’t think so, it’s about time someone did a winter Sherman instead of mud. Nice vid.
Thank you and thanks for watching :)
From the “You Learn Something New Every Day” file. That trick with the toothpick for applying superglue was a new one for me. Great idea.

Well done. You die a great job with the weathering and the storage. This Tank needs a little Diorama. 👍✌ Greetings Ben from Germany
Hi Ben 🖐 Thank you! Glad you liked it. And yes that sounds like a good idea. The photo that I used in the video of the 76 W on the road got me thinking about setting a scene 🤓
Fantastic build fella.Keep up the great work.
One of the reasons I almost always buy Tamiya tank kits are the one-piece tracks. They take a bit of work to make them sag between the return rollers but they eliminate hours of tedious work that can be devoted to painting and weathering. I’ve even bought spare one-piece tracks for Dragon kits that Tamiya doesn’t produce. I know you spray-paint boys aren’t going to like this, (and I do think spray paint is excellent for aircraft), but after spraying on the primer, I use large tweezers and some pieces of ladies make-up sponge to daub on the paint. The thicker paint gives the model “weight”…and tanks are heavy beasts. I personally think spray paint leaves the model looking “ light” as if the tank is made out of tin.
Exceptional attention to detail! You have a gift sir! Enjoyed the video!
Very creative use of something as simple as a scouring pad, no need for those expensive templates after all! The end result is awesome.👍😎
Outstanding work on that Sherman, mate. More than one tank boy building ground targets must be feeling the chills. Have some rest, stay safe.

Thank you! And yes it's a very easy method I find even though it looks a time consuming method. I've not seen the one by Kovac but there are a few different ways to get a mottled effect. I like this the most and glad you enjoyed too 👍
I think you did a great job on it.
Thank you and thanks for watching :)
Sweeeeeet!
Loved your techniques, and look forward to your next project 😆
Great, great video and build!! loved the comedy about the tracks...incredible talent my friend...Mike G
Thanks Mike and thanks for watching :) I couldn'y not make fun out of myself on this one. I was sat at my desk screaming at these!!
@@TheInnerNerd well, I was laughing with you, my friend
You are the artist....
Thank you and thanks for watching :)
nice to meet you. I also made Sherman, and it's cool!
Fantastic build!
Thank you and thanks for watching :)
Well done man, great job!!!
Nice. You`ve excelled yourself here marra, an amazing finish.
Your reaction to the track links at 1:15 was priceless😂😂😂😂😂
These were definitely overkill and the worst part of the build! Even the aftermarket ones were painful... Thanks for watching :)
Excellent work all the way through.
Great work as usua, you don’t disappoint.
I can’t believe you called this a failure haha. This is honestly one of the best tank models I have seen.
haha I laughed when he said that, he did say it was a failure in breaking away from the detail of aircraft modelling, clearly the finished tank itself looks great
Haha thank you. And yes as @Adam Thompson said, it was meant to be an easy project that didn't take too long to break up the repetition of the aircrfat models I'd been making. Looking at the work I put into this one I definately failed at that! Thank you for watching :)
Haha I get it now. Just an absolutely gorgeous M4!
I just purchased this model and it will arrive in the next few days and this made me very excited for it. You did a great job!
what an amazing job !!!!!!! great attention to details
👍 loved the aluminum foil for a canvas tarp. Going to have to try that.
