Jax was worse in the pilot. He left Pomni and Ragatha to die from Kaufmo, broke Gangle’s happy mask more (also pushes her from the escalators), and put centipedes in Ragatha’s room which is her biggest fear. All Jax did in episode 2 was act like a jerk.Y’all need to calm down with "wHy dId JaX cHaNgE” 😩 He’s the same jerk we all know and was worse in episode one. Also before anyone replies with "he threw Pomni out” or "he allowed the fudge monster to kill everyone” 1.He threw Pomni because he was trying to complete the adventure (in a very Jax way) also the circus members are immortal (besides abstraction or glitching) 2.Those were NPC’s it doesn’t matter he killed them. It’s better than him leaving actual humans to die

He threatened Gangle with something that she’s clearly embarrassed about to ram into a spiked truck, threw Ragatha into a bunch of knifes, let a monster that eats people into a kingdom (though yes admittedly those people are just npcs) and didn’t even have the decency to show up to Kaufmo’s funeral.

Nah, a narcisist would lie and has a low self esteem and so far he has been honest about himself and doesnt seem to have a low self esteem. 'Jax could potentially be a narcissist' NUH UH. He is 110% without a DOUBT a narcissist, an UNHINGED and BRUTAL harbinger of pure CHAOS beyond human nature. Abusing the fact that the circus isn't real to his advantage and cementing his personality like the absolute JAW DROPPING CRETIN HE IS. He's the character I'd least expect to abstract due to his open and downright diabolical nature. He won't go insane, he IS insane. I love Jax's character even more after the second episode, It's so funny to see him shamble around from place to place, getting up Infront of the camera and causing chaos wherever he goes.

I genuinely want to see what would happen if someone gave him a taste of his own medicine. It’s unlikely it’ll be from the cast of main characters though since nobody really compares to Jax’s sadism. Jax is a really interesting character
Pretty sure he's acting from a place of reaction and discharge and not rest. This circus may seem like a place that requires a person who is detached from his emotions and does not take things seriously. This also shows me that Koufmo is a very sensitive person in his true nature, which is why he was a victim of abstraction.

For fans of Jax's character, it is frightening that Jax undergoes a transformation in a moment of weakness.
As you said, Goose literally said Jax is the only one who deserved to stay in the circus. So of course he's more of a jerk.

(After watching vid): Maybe he didnt got punished and he was just curious then put the headset on and stuff. And im pretty sure he adjusted to the circus more easly than the others. Plus i think that kaufmo was the one who helped him adjust, and jax related to kaufmo.

My theory is he’s a sociopath that maybe offed people(maybe women) he gets mad when things aren’t violent enough and doesn’t care how he treats people. Now that he’s in the digital world he has no consequences. Everything he does is for his entertainment.
I think he's a sociopath too. I'm not so sure he's literally murdered people, but he gives off sociopathic vibes.
Jax is definitely a narcissist. We like to believe that's somewhere deep down he really does care even though all of the evidence points to the contrary. He becomes his coping mechanism there's nothing underneath the mask. He doesn't see you he sees what you can do for him.

I hated jax even in the beginning, I don't understand why people liked him. Also, I am glad that I loved Ragatha since the beginning, she is amazing and sweet and I'd love to be friends with her
I ain't 100% sure on him being a narcissist maybe just more of a socio/psychopath. Narcissist have bigger needs of wanting to be praised and worshipped which Jax just hasn't fully displayed as much. Him being a sadist is just fact tho.

I never heard of narcissism but that's one kind of attitude i hate in the world. Since i saw the teasers introducing each Digital Circus member, i knew Jax would be the character i will hate during the whole show and after 2 episodes, i still can't stand this guy. If he ever put in danger or worse make any Digital Circus member or my favorite character Pomni abstract, i will be mad and no longer consider him as a protagonist.
I'm stumped as to why everyone is so over analysing jax at this point: Bro knows he's fucked and just happens to be your average gmod sandbox player, so he's just defaulting to not giving a fuck in an environment without consequences (I highly highly HIGHLY doubt any of them are in any actual dangers outside of abstracting all things considered)

Is it just me or does it seem like Jax gets more purple every time? In the meet the characters thing a while ago he seemed almost blue, in the pilot he was a light purple, and in ep2 he seems dark purple.

3:40 That's because in the adventures of the circus,i dont really think anybody dies or they are in a real danger,because caine can just evaporate all npcs in one click of finger.
There is something about him we can see in the giftshop.
There are merchandise where you can see the character's room (ragatha has a piano in her room, kinger seems to not use his because we are in his "impenetrable" fortress, gangle has a red and black bed, etc...) and there's only jax's room we only see the door, but not the inside (plus, the background of his name is also broken).
I'm pretty sure his room contain something importamt for the story of for his character (like something he is soft about, a key for the exit door that he keep for himself for different reasons, etc...).
I just hope that in the futur, we will learn more about him, about why he's like this, what he really is and that he will open himself.

Imo Jax is narcissistic but also sadistic. He takes pleasure from others suffering and doesnt regret it or feel slight remorse for it. Fits perfectly for his character
Jax didn’t sympathize with the fudge. He empathized with him, understanding how he felt, not just feeling bad.
Notice that the only person Jax torments less than the others is Zooble. Not because he likes them or they’re his friend… but because they actually fight back against Jax and don’t take his bullcrap.

I had realised this since episode 2 had come out. I watched a lot of video analyses of the cahracter of Adam from HH, about how he's a narcissist, and they all applied to Jax, I recommend watching them If you want to learn more about that.
I do think he is reacting to how he knows none of them can get hurt and die, but that Ragatha has the opposite approach in knowing that everyone can still suffer and be traumatized, even if you can't physically suffer with bleeding, dying, etc.
I am sure Gooseworx is working up a "whatever awful things he's doing in the current episode is nothing compared to how awful he will be in the next episode" kind of thing with him and that he's only gonna get worse.
I also think the bowling ball thing was just a spontaneous, on-the-spot thing as a reason to get out of the situation. I think he actually just stole the bowling ball and came up with the nickname on a looney-tunes style of immediately coming up with an excuse to get away from the situation.

My personal headcannon. Every character who ended up in circus has some kind of psychopathology. Jax is not a Narc since he seams to not place too much attention to precived image of himself. Rather he is using deprecation of others as a form of hedonistic validation for his internal self image. He also does not seam to manipulate his perceived image to bend it into something praise worthy or even positive. For me pathology is not Narcissism but Sociopathy and best example of this is at the of ep. 2. (The Fudge incident) TLDR Jax is Joker and he just wants to see the world burn.
I love Jax as a character but I also pray on his downfall every day.

I still like him as a character but currently not as a person. I know Goose said he will get worse, but I wonder how his character arc will end and why exactly he acts this way. She stated that he does have a reason (doesn’t excuse the behavior of course) and I’m curious what it is. I hope that we do get to see glimpses of a softer side and maybe redemption at the end, but I’m curious where his character is going to go. I hope he realizes how toxic his behavior is to the others at some point❤
My theory is that all of the ppl that were put in to the circus are actually mentally unwell or insane in some way, even before they entered the circus

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it's (partially, at least, I think behavior like this has to be at least somewhat ingrained) a trauma response, either something he carried over from humanity or from something that happened in the circus, which causes him to look down on others and feel superior from harming them. I definitely think he's a narcissist or psycho/sociopath at the very least, though I'm nowhere near qualified to officially diagnose him.
I was never an ENORMOUS Jax fan, but I did like him a lot. I loved his rubberhose character design!

It's perfectly valid if no one in the circus likes Jax, but I think Jax isn't all bad. I don't think he'll ever really change, but I think there is a vulnerable, redeeming part of him that he puts up a front to conceal, and doesn't want to get close to anybody because of what it means when they abstract. Maybe one of the circus members IS an NPC, and Jax doesn't think there's a difference anymore if they all live in a videogame. Caine will just dispose of them all the same when it isn't possible to play with them anymore.
I really love that Ragatha, instead of taking Jax's route, chooses to seek connection with the other circus members, especially Pomni. She doesn't seem to be doing it with ulterior motives, at least to me. I think her desire for friendship is genuine, and that friendship is what helps keep her sane. Kaufmo was likely incredibly isolated for some time before he abstracted. It's possible Ragatha regrets not doing more to express her concern for Kaufmo. It's also possible Jax egged him on because he thought he was being hilarious, and feels regret for doing so.

The talk with the fudge monster was a bit if a stretch tbh. Most likely he was trying to use the fudge to get them (him) out of that situation
I think Jax is just absolutely bloody DONE with the whole digital circus thing and acts like a jerk out of sheer spite of his situation.
Notice how most of the cast seem to reflect a form of coping mechanism in response to the existential crisis.
Kinger went bonkers, Ragatha is trying to be kind to everyone, Gangle gives in to depression, Zooble is a loner, so Jax is likely the personification of "Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light."
Jax is coping by lashing out in anger and frustration at everyone else, that frustration eventually becoming cynical and malicious through out the years. Not justified at all but I do think he's one of the most human characters in the show.
Hoping that when we go into episode 3 Zooble actually joins this time and puts him in his place since it seems like she's the only one in the group that isn't afraid to kick his ass.
As much Jax likes targeting Womon, the only other male character in the group is King.
I think you might be completely right. The evidence is there and Gooseworx has confirmed some of these things. Honestly, I can’t wait to see more of this show and find out all the characters’ backstories.

Jax is definitely an asshole, no doubt. When he said "Aren't you supposed to be submissive and agreeable?", I thought that was a 4th wall break for those trying to figure out each of the characters' personalities by overanalyzing episode 1. Whether or not that's the case, Jax definitely deserves to be the next one to abstract, if anyone.

He was always a jerk. Given how he likes to torment the others like telling Ragatha that he may or may not have put centipedes in her room, he likely put his bowling ball in Kaufmo's room as part of a "prank." on the clown. And since it is next to the door I would guess the ball was positioned in a way to hit Kaufmo in the head or make him trip and fall down.
The slight regret may be the face that Jax understands that his constant torment of Kaufmo may be the main reason the clown was so eager to escape. And that that obsession to get away from jax is what drove him into abstracting, which is followed by Jax finding kaufmo to be a complete idiot for abstracting over a few pranks.

I don’t think he’s necessarily a narcissist. I think he’s a jerk, sure, but more than anything I think he’s really the only one that really comprehends that there are no consequences to his actions and he takes full advantage of it.
