So I'm coming back here after watching episode three of TADC and there are a few things that I wanted to point out: 1. Kinger in the newest episode is able to remember/be himself when he is in the darkness because it reminds him of his wife. 2. When Kinger holds his breath, he starts to glow. Because Kinger and Queenie are always depicted as opposites (in canon where Kinger is the light and Queenie is the darkness) part of me wonders if Kinger is the one who was abstracted in the Digital Chess AU, but because he still had his wife, he was able to gain power over abstraction (similar to the new episode where we find that Queenie was calmer after abstraction in the darkness.)
I like the details that say he really does just see it as a game. When he’s towering over caine and pomni he just looks really focused. When coffmo moves, he is doing a thinking pose, really thinking like a game, ‘what is the best move here’

this gives me vibes of a chess master (kinger) trying to teach two newbies how to play and being merciless about it, one who constantly plays it safe (caine) and one who doesn't know strategy and takes dumb risks (pomni) meanwhile queenie being the one supposed to help the newbies make the right choices but just spectates the match
Kinger actually doesn't cheat, and punishes it heavily! ✨️ But in his chess game you can sabotage the other teams tiles if you have the means to, and hinder their progress or movements as a result. Just a side effect of how Kinger was programmed to play chess. Performatively interesting. 👀
I feel the Chains mean restriction more than Kingers Control. Kaufmo is a bishop, and we clearly see him slide diagonally in front of kinger. I feel the Chain was just to show he wasn’t aloud to move to other squares, and Pomni ordered him to move to that position. So the chain was her control on Kaufmo’s movements, and his ultimate death.
Honestly, it’s been 5 months and I decided to rewatch this, and just wanted to point something out. I think the “tampered” floors aren’t traps, more of like a correction. Since Caine in this universe is a bishop, he can only move diagonally, not backwards or forwards. But when the floor falls, he took a step backwards. Just a little detail I just noticed.
Imagine if the theories that Kinger may have been a dev are true and he finds some way to access admin powers or the dev console while on the verge of abstracting. That would be a threat even Caine would be terrified of, I imagine.

To be honest everything points to him having something to do with the development of the circus. His obsession with an insect collection, Which is clearly referring to bugs, The fact that he has been in the circus the longest, the way he is clearly insane but still hasn't abstracted.
huh..the song kinda perfectly loops? Kinger says “Little pawns! welcome back!” like he was waiting for the song to end so he can start playing again, almost like the entire world gets reset every time Caine dies (or almost dies). I think that Caine was just giving up knowing that losing is inevitable, and because Queenie gave specifically Pomni instructions on how to beat the game “Win one game; fair and square” she tries to follow them, only to be lead back into a trap of Kaufmo dying and Caine finding out the board has been tampered with, resetting the game (which is what the static at the very end is, timestamp: 4:39 ) the song repeats over and over indefinitely. however, that’s js a theory!

Unless I’m forgetting chess rules, Kaufmo’s a bishop, and Kinger was on a tile he could access diagonally. Kinger’s in check. Since bishops can move as many tiles as they want, as long as it’s diagonally, Kaufmo was in the perfect position to take Kinger and end the game. If he just moved all the way to Kinger’s tile, the game would be over, but he stopped one tile before. Did he just get scared? Got cold feet and couldn’t finish the move, ending his turn and letting Kinger take him instead?

So no, you don’t *physically* take the king in a game of chess, but it’s probably implied that that’s the result of a checkmate.
I feel like Gangle was originally a black pawn which shows in her outfit as well as why she shows up on the other team when the white team was surrounded. I believe Kinger allowed this change due to possibly Queenie favoring Gangle and Gangle not being as ruthless as the other black team members. It could also be possible that Gangle was moved by Cain and requested she changed teams which Kinger allowed for some reason.
I honestly agree with this theory as in one of the shorts, we see her turn into her bigger happy mask form that we see with all the black pieces showing that they aren't two different entities
My God! This'll be a fun take for another premise with the same kind of characters per se but this is way more morbid tho. The Circus would be a psychological hell hole while the Chessboard would be true survival, finding a way to strategize and with mere combat. Idk what the idea behind this AU but it's super interesting and I'm so enamoured with the amount of hardwork on making it to a fan song. Highly commendable on each and everyone's part. Kudos.
This is a very nice take on a different possibility, a different story for the game, it feels different and at the same time, it also feels like the TADC we always know and love. You guys genuinely did an incredible job on this, like just look at the interaction between queen and pomni, it captures the heavenly enviroment perfectly as well as how pomni emotions escalates. I loved it right from the first time I watched it, though i may not understand it at its fullest meaning at first, it still manages to put a lasting impression on the viewers of this video
This AU is incredibly entertaining and interesting! Just all the ideas! The idea of a chess themed world with a medieval twist, Queenie being somewhat of a spiritual guide of Pomni, and so much more! I'm fascinated by the medieval elements within the story and I love the character designs!

Oh my god, the lyrics are so good, I loved the upbeat parts a lot. Pomni and Queen doing their Singing was really beautifully done too! So glad I watched and listened to all of this. Singing and art for this was so great!

huh..the song kinda perfectly loops? Kinger says “Little pawns! welcome back!” like he was waiting for the song to end so he can start playing again, almost like the entire world gets reset every time Caine dies (or almost dies). I think that Caine was just giving up knowing that losing is inevitable, and because Queenie gave specifically Pomni instructions on how to beat the game “Win one game; fair and square” she tries to follow them, only to be lead back into a trap of Kaufmo dying and Caine finding out the board has been tampered with, resetting the game (which is what the static at the very end is, timestamp: 4:39 ) the song repeats over and over indefinitely. however, that’s js a theory!

This is an interesting concept for a TADC AU! This song has been on repeat for a long time for me😅 I love the visuals and how Kinger is depicted as a very strong opponent and how Caineand the others have to fight him to win. Keep the awesome work going, Never stop❤

Unless I’m forgetting chess rules, Kaufmo’s a bishop, and Kinger was on a tile he could access diagonally. Kinger’s in check. Since bishops can move as many tiles as they want, as long as it’s diagonally, Kaufmo was in the perfect position to take Kinger and end the game. If he just moved all the way to Kinger’s tile, the game would be over, but he stopped one tile before. Did he just get scared? Got cold feet and couldn’t finish the move, ending his turn and letting Kinger take him instead?

You can’t take the king, you have to put him in checkmate. Plus he was probably coming in from the other side

@@nicholasjohnston1970 True, but since chess is a game about war, and taking pieces is likely the equivalent of killing or capturing a soldier, I’ve always assumed that taking the king was the *implied* aftermath of putting it in checkmate, since killing or capturing an opposing kingdom’s king would probably give you a huge leg up in a war. So no, you don’t *physically* take the king in a game of chess, but it’s probably implied that that’s the result of a checkmate.
You have to check the king first and you have to do it at a distance or on the next turn the king will kill you
I feel like Gangle was originally a black pawn which shows in her outfit as well as why she shows up on the other team when the white team was surrounded. I believe Kinger allowed this change due to possibly Queenie favoring Gangle and Gangle not being as ruthless as the other black team members. It could also be possible that Gangle was moved by Cain and requested she changed teams which Kinger allowed for some reason.
I honestly agree with this theory as in one of the shorts, we see her turn into her bigger happy mask form that we see with all the black pieces showing that they aren't two different entities

My God! This'll be a fun take for another premise with the same kind of characters per se but this is way more morbid tho. The Circus would be a psychological hell hole while the Chessboard would be true survival, finding a way to strategize and with mere combat. Idk what the idea behind this AU but it's super interesting and I'm so enamoured with the amount of hardwork on making it to a fan song. Highly commendable on each and everyone's part. Kudos.
This is a very nice take on a different possibility, a different story for the game, it feels different and at the same time, it also feels like the TADC we always know and love. You guys genuinely did an incredible job on this, like just look at the interaction between queen and pomni, it captures the heavenly enviroment perfectly as well as how pomni emotions escalates. I loved it right from the first time I watched it, though i may not understand it at its fullest meaning at first, it still manages to put a lasting impression on the viewers of this video
This AU is incredibly entertaining and interesting! Just all the ideas! The idea of a chess themed world with a medieval twist, Queenie being somewhat of a spiritual guide of Pomni, and so much more! I'm fascinated by the medieval elements within the story and I love the character designs!
