Glad to see no more rain, and mud, and finally things are greening up. SAD is rough on your head 😊. Love the music and the drone shots. I like Fran's scarf and corduroy jacket ensemble, very stylish. I myst gsve a look sf our local larch trees - the wiggly-branch tree is a bur oak. They look like that throughout their lives.

I am originally from Georgia in the USA and Pine trees are everywhere. I love to smell them. There are several different kinds such as long needles and short needles.

Really nice filming and editing. Those locks were narrow, I would have crashed into all of them 😂. I am glad you had a few decent weather days. I don’t remember another year that has been so windy, and I live in NY. I know you have had horrific storms. Hope good weather comes soon and stays.

Oh the memories. 8 months ago I dropped my phone into the lock at lock 6 whilst trying to take a photo of the pretty cottage. Never got it back of course. Lovely drone footage.

Imagine having a remote control for all the locks! I reckon, especially in the bad weather, it would be nirvana.
We do have a friend with a remote control for her boat so she can stand on the lockside and steer her boat in.
@@FloatingOurBoat 😆 A bit like the latest cars with auto parking. I really need one of those because I feel like the parking spaces are getting narrower and there are too many folk buying bigger cars.

Grindley Brook can get in such a tizzy in peak season, they let 3 down / 3 up so the bottom pound on it's bend has boats at all angles and places ! Stopped at those moorings after Quoisley too - recommended 👌

Lovely vlog, Fran's Haiku was inspired! I first saw and heard a Chiff Chaff (?) just after lockdown, what pretty, though noisy, birds.
It is lovely to hear them at first but after an hour at 5 am you just need them to take a break!!
Very much enjoyed Fran's Haiku for the day 😊. We've got a poetry contest at the local library and my mind is buzzing with ideas. I'm so envious of your pretty spring blooms! I've got tulips and crocus in a pot outside, but nothing is coming up yet. I hope the bulbs aren't duds! Shame you got skunked at the garden shop, better luck as you go on. Fran, you are looking very fit these days, well done! I need to get on with walking again, now that Minnesota is creeping out of winter. Thanks for a lovely video!

RE:- Tomato plants. I used to save seeds from one or 2 tomatos, wrap them in kitchen roll then dry them out somewhere warm. Great when you have found tomatos you like, as so many are bland and almost tasteless these days.
I have done that in the past. I took my eye off the ball this year and left ot too late to sow 🙄

*Stanza 1: The Water's Whispers*
In the quietude of liquid paths,
Where canals trace their ancient veins,
Narrowboats glide-a slow procession,
Their hulls etching stories into water.
Locks, guardians of passage,
Cogs and chains turning time's wheel,
And herons, solemn sentinels,
Dip low, seeking sustenance.
Bridges arch, stone spines
Bearing the weight of centuries,
Their keystones cradling sunsets,
Each brick a witness to passage.
*Stanza 2: A Boat's Lullaby*
Within the narrowboat's cabin,
Wooden walls hold whispered dreams,
Maps unfurling across tables,
Routes etched in ink and longing.
Smoke curls from chimneys,
A fragrant memory of hearth,
As we drift through tunnels-
Darkness yielding to light.
Meadows stretch, a canvas of green,
And moonlight dances on ripples,
While the boat's timeworn planks
Sing tales of wanderlust.

We try to always use cash, but when you are miles from a cash dispenser you can run out.
