    I really hope this comment doesn't come off as a insult, but I am loving your videos precisely because you are not a mechanical god trying to show us stuff. You logically explain every step but in a way that those that don't understand this naturally can get because you are walking through your learning process. So many tutorial videos I have watched are by people who are just unreal at the game and they miss the little stuff that they have figured out naturally and unconsciously. I can kind of do many of the things your videos explain, but after watching them and following the training I am finally UNDERSTANDING why its not working like it does for the mechanical gods and I am getting better and better.
    As a 31 year old dude just trying to get better at a game that feels like its filled with 15 year old mechanical cracked gods, your content has totally reinvigorated my drive to learn and improve. Thank you for your excellent content, well produced videos and the effort you are putting in.

    • @Grifflicious
      @Grifflicious  Год назад

      No insult received! I'll be the first person on the megaphone to tell the world that my peak is Champ 2 and my overall gameplay is no where near "good" but it's improving as I improve and to me, that's more important. To your point, I got into RL content for the reason you listed above. I believe people were glossing over or completely ignoring the nuances of their movements/inputs/choices because they either A.) didn't feel pertinent to the overall scope of information or, B.) (like you highlighted) reached a point where they weren't consciously aware that it was something they were doing, regardless of it's relevance to being successful at the mechanic.
      For me at this point, the more I've learned about how these mechanics work, how car and ball interactions work, how high level car control works, I can start taking clips or full on videos, break them down over time, and learn not only how people are doing things, but why! Which to me, the "how" and the "why" are perfectly 50/50 in regards to learning. Because someone could teach you what 2 + 2 is, but the meaning and value of that information is far greater and better implemented when you know why the answer is 4. Idk, I get off on this stuff lol.

  • @sammikinsderp
    @sammikinsderp Год назад

    There are also two approaches to air dribbling off the wall.
    1: Tap the ball, and immediately jump off the wall to chase the ball.
    2: Tap the ball, brake, then jump off the wall and use your second jump (not dodging, though) to catch up to the ball.
    It's good to get comfortable with both because you'll come across many different setups, requiring you to approach the air dribble differently.

    • @sammikinsderp
      @sammikinsderp Год назад

      I should also add that there are times you may want to dodge toward (flip) to the ball, but this is less common when you're trying to go for a regular air dribble. Dodging toward the ball is more common when you need to make a 50/50 against a challenge.

    Good video -- but I have a question. Doesn't your tip to use directional airroll just assume players have that mechanic mastered? It's not as easy as just holding air-roll left, or doing a tornado spin, you have to know how to steer while airrolling?

    • @Grifflicious

      This was a follow up video to learning directional air roll, which is why I went in this order. It assumes you watched that video first, which I even brought up in the beginning. Excuse me can u explain what tornado air roll is it looks like it’s rotating a centre without touching it , it’s weird and I don’t understand how it’s different of just air roll going around in circles while tornado rolls look like the tip of the car is rotating along something that looks like a 10 circled Venn diagram (edit I hope I explained what i mean

    • @Grifflicious
      @Grifflicious  Год назад

      The "Tornado Spin" is just the name given to the car's movement when you hold directional air roll and push the stick opposite of that direction. So if you use Air Roll Left, you hold the stick right. Use air roll right, hold the stick left.

  • @Shizel105
    @Shizel105 9 месяцев назад

    I honestly just cannot learn air roll. I know people are gonna say “just keep trying” or “you will get it soon”, but honestly it’s just too hard. Everyone keeps telling me to do a “simple” stick input and keep air rolling, but that doesn’t work. Every time I boost I just go off course, leading me to miss the ball completely after I had a clear set up to hit it to the goal. I feel like I can just do better without air roll at all, unless somebody actually spends time to teach me or teaches me carefully.

    • @Grifflicious
      @Grifflicious  Год назад +1

      @@bass66 I know you don't want to hear this but the reason I believe you're struggling with that consistency is due to free air roll not having a dedicated direction and thus, makes continuous/fluid/efficient adjustments more difficult to do. Not saying you CAN'T ever learn to do it with free air roll but that is going to be a difficult road to travel due to how much is involved with that particular input. To put a bow on the whole thing though, air roll, no matter what you use, should ALWAYS be used to adjust and nothing more. In all honesty, it's over used by most people, myself included, and is a terrible habit to have and break. What you should focus on is how you're making contact, where the ball is going to go AFTER you touch it, and prepare to already be moving in that direction before you ever touch the ball! Air dribbles involve FAR MORE anticipation than people realize. The secret to aerial control, if there was one, is to control the touch intentionally so that it goes where you want it to. So, armed with that knowledge, you aren't trying to "recover" in the air to touch it again but rather, you ALREADY know where it's going to go and will be ready to touch it again much sooner and more controlled. It's like being a psychic and you're playing in the future!
