Ok, so in 1986. The Air Max 1 was way softer and more comfortable than the rereleased Air Max 1's to date. I fondly remember the midsole in 1986 being a much softer shoe! It was one of the reasons I loved it as a kid! I still have in the box the first rereleased Air Max 1 from 2000. Then in 2012 I bought a unique colorway of the Air Max 1's. Then again bought another pair in 2019. All the same thing, the midsole on all of these shoes is just too firm! That was/is my biggest gripe of the rereleased models! I really want a version of rereleased shoes, technology included, that are the same as the original! The good news is the midsole sculpture of the Air Max Big Bubble is exactly like the original in 86! The notches up front were a vertical cut. The rerelease shoes notch is cut at an angle. The line above the bubble did not exist in 86. What did exist was the half circle next to the visible bubble. So, thank you Nike for bringing back a midsole version like the original! My question to you is, are these AM1 Big Bubbles softer than the other rereleases you've purchased in the past? As I can still buy these on Ebay. The price range is anywhere from $140 to $250. I'm just curious if it's worth my time and money? As I don't want another firm midsole Air Max 1!!! I am finding out the same thing with the rerelease of the Air Trainer 1. Wasn’t there a lawsuit against Nike from Avia regarding the original Air180 using cantilever technology and a big heel/toe drop with the 180 which meant the re release couldn’t use the original big bubble design due to the lawsuit which happened. Was all a long time ago now but totally agree if Nike can, the Original Air180 would be great. Also a lot of retro re release don’t have the Forefoot air unit.
I only had like 3 pairs of airmax 1s that I remember.. and the first 2 where collab.. one was concepts .. one of those hippie shoes they made that relate to Woodstock.. And then and airmax patta.. the no so popular burgundy and grey color way.. First one I got .. found out that I need to go TTS and needed a 10.5 and 10 was to tight.. so relized all my airmaxes I need 10.5 (1,90s,95s,97s) But anyways.. I just hit on the new airmax 1 '86 Chicago colorways that just came in a few days ago.. and I LOVE them.. The first think I realized and felt a different with was ... It was BIGGER (like it made you taller and had a bigger sole it felt like and I only have like 4 shoes that are raised like that.. like vapor waffles that have double everything including the soles) So I just wanted to make sure I'm not the only one who noticed the massive raise in height.. or maybe it's only with the Chicago pair i have? The air 180 design was subject to a lawsuit brought on by avia as they said that the 180 design copied their cantilever shoe design,avia actually won and nike had to destroy all blueprints and left over stock hence why all retros have been way off in design,now that enough time has passed nike are able bring back the big bubble 180.
Is the entire upper on the heel portion of your ‘17 anniversary pair misaligned, or were they really like that? The only AM1 I still have is the EOI, and mine isn’t like that. I think.

My true to size is 8.5 and they were too big, I went half a size down and they're perfect. I have a pair of 8.5 if anyone is interested.
It would be amazing if they also did the Nike Air Max 95 Big Bubble.
