The entire argument comes from a perspective of not understanding the realities of insurgency and counter-insurgency efforts, and that there are few guarantees when you don't know who the enemy will be or what they'll be packing. Increased security could have signified to the attackers to hit harder with more heavy arms, potentially with deadlier results. Are you electing a business man or a con man?

The fact that so many other Embassies weren't attacked and were adequately protected should stand as evidence that this was a fluke.
