The Movie has tons of problems, but it gets a lot right too...neither the 1976 version or this newer version gets the story 100% correct but the newer version hits on some points that are of interest, the mentioning of the fact that US Torpedoes were ineffective early in the war is interesting and accurate, it took until mid 1943 for the torpedo problems to be sorted out....my main problem with the current movie is there are absolutely NO Wildcat fighters portrayed in the film and there is a scene where US Bombers fly over the Japanese carriers and drop bombs like they are flying over a target in Germany, totally inaccurate!! If you want the TRUE AND ACCURATE story of Midway pick up the book 'Shattered Sword' and read it....you're welcome!
