Brividi.❤❤❤❤

I think he sounds amazing... really. I had a voice teacher who studied with him while he was well into his 70's... and he still had the voice. I dont think he had a clue how good he was, eaten by insecurity and doubt and fear. But what a voice! What an otello he would have made!

holy crap! at 1:54, I had no idea that corelli, at age 50 was going to hit that Bb that easily, especially on that vowel and without his mouth opening so huge. that...was awesome

You are in good company. In the famous Opera Fanatic poll, Corelli came in first (Caruso was third). Pavarotti was a poor musician who struggled learning music while Corelli was a phenom who studied constantly and could learn a full role in three days.. Pavarotti himself said Corelli was the best drammatic tenor in the world. I forget how may times I heard Pavarotti. I can never forget a moment of Corelli.

One funny anecdote; there were complaints about Loretta standing in the wings with a recorder night after night, so they forbade her from doing it. One night, she stood there with a statue of the Virgin Mary, praying as Franco sang 'Che gelida manina'. As he approached the climax, she looked around and lifted up the statue, which had been hollowed out and inside was a tape recorder!!
Oftentimes, acts would begin late because the two of them were arguing in his dressing room. Unbelievable!!

Apparently, she would have a stopwatch to time his “high” notes. Insufferable. I heard this from another singer.

ther are many that exceed corelli. beauty is the key my friend. corelli aften sounded like a goat until the very top A, B's and C's. other than that, his instrument was a beast!! great great instrument. but it takes ALOT more than that to be great.!

You're entitled to your taste in music. May I just respectfully disagree vehemently castorp278. I just love the great Corelli and at age 50, as he is here, to blast a perfect Bb is just wonderful. He was one of the all time greats. So there!

  • @boxingin

Saluti.

Well castorp, we agree on Pavarotti. He inspired me to begin my love of opera after seeing the 3 tenors. In fact, at the age of 45, in 1990, I took singing lessons for 3 years, just out of love of Italian opera.
The results are on You Tube under the name of Joel Barry. I sing Nessun Dorma.
You'll probably rip me up but I don't claim to be taken seriously. My cousin put the vid up there. It was my uncles 70th. I'm a piano bar pianist/singer in Chicago for 35 years. Good talking to ya.

It's ridiculous to compare Corelli to Pavarotti.
They were both great artists. I saw them both
and I'm sorry that fans on this site continue to make
    these simplistic comments

  • @karifrid

and Pavarotti for that. It is easier to sing after watching them sing . It is best to learn from the best. I think I am getting better when I compare this video with the older one that I put on youtube 8 months ago. I have studied with tenorsinger named David Bartleet,(when I have money to spare) I hope that my voice will grow bigger and bigger and I can sing roles like Il trovatore.(I already know the tenorpart by heart) Corelli did famous Di quella pira and to get in "the mood"I listen.

  • @karifrid
    @karifrid 15 лет назад +1

I put a video response with me singing this aria. More people listen to Maestro Corelli, than any other tenor on youtube and I want people to listen to me.I could get more jobs as a singer. I know seven tenorparts "by heart" and a lot of arias and songs. Normal program for a short performance is : La donna e mobile and O sole mio. An encore ,Nessun dorma. I have been told that my high notes are quite good and I can ,partly thank singers like Maestro Corelli,Del Monaco,Kraus and Pavarotti for

this is WAY past corelli's prime. BUT, the vocie couldnt be fucked with in his prime. he was too too much of a beast! primo tenore! but, keep in mind, there were alot of PRIMO's!

@ovideo360 A very typical teenager response, but for a 48-old guy? Of course, everyone may have his own taste and preference, but to state that Corelli 'sounds just like' Domingo...???? WTF! Ever heard of monomania? Some people are just completely blinded by their own fixation on one particular interest/admiration...

Is sad to see his face at the end. Can't undertsood that he could be afraid the audience with that voice, good looking and easy voice. But someone told to me once that he was afraid because he was homosexual and he was afraid that people could notice this at stage. If is true, is a really sad reason!

what is your definition of the best tenor of all time? His voice is incapable of singing Rossini's arias with super challenging coloratura. But he is the best for Turandot for example. So it is meaningless to say the best tenor of all time.
