It definitely has a long way to go, but it's interesting to play with it and learn how to interact with it. The more I play with it, the better I get at interacting with it, and the better results I get with it.
That's because It needs to be fine tuned to perform specific tasks correctly. It's far superior in terms of capabilities. I think a lot of people discredit ChatGPT because they fear It could replace them or make It much more difficult to find a secure job in the future but It's a powerful tool, If you know how to use It.

It will happen eventually. Every big data company is competing neck in neck to be the first to get their LLMs to this level. You can build your own with Tesseract or EasyOCR. But the painful part is to put context to the values extracted from OCR. Takes a lot of training and fine tuning to make it usable in a specific scenario
Tesseract, EasyOCR are machine learning tools so yeah it is AI. But if you dont have the time to build and train them yourself you can have a look at AWS Textract or Google Document AI.
