    Kitchenaid AND a free sewing machine? Score! If the machine works, gentlemen start your engines! My grandmother taught me to run one when I was nine, so it can't be too difficult.(LOL) She said I could use the machine once I learned to thread it myself. Took about 30 seconds.(LOL)

    Never be sorry. Your videos are always very interesting. We have had a cold front come thru, in the 80s!! Rain yesterday. Off and on all week. We'll always take it. Stay cool and stay safe 💜💜 my first machine was a Kenmore in the mid 60s. It was a great little machine. I made bedspreads for my children's bunk beds and many outfits for my girls and me. I used it constantly. You could look about a seeing machine repair store if it doesn't work when you plug in. They could probably tell you. If your Sears still sells, they could check out for you, might even be able to locate the instructions for it. Worth a try. It might just need a good oiling. Many forget to oil their machines. Best of luck💜💜

    Glad you took the piece of furniture. The piece is called a wash stand the back tells the age i have two one with the towel bar and one without its from the 40s.i never put pledge on anything , to clean it just go to a antique shop and they have howards feed n wax i use this on all my oak pieces. If you wont to fix the bottom a piece of plywood would work.its a beautiful piece . Dont give up , your treasure is just around the corner.

    As Kevin the Commonwealth Picker says, when in doubt, part it out! Good job pulling some stuff from the mixer, but there's more that can come off. Same with the sewing machine. If you just want to learn the basics of sewing, a Brother machine is a good one to learn on.

    Could be hot and stinky!! My neighbor had to take out my trash (in the cart) because it was too heavy for me. He asked if I had a dead body in there. I'll never tell.
    Good scores. Really good scores. I bet you know someone at the flea that can fix your oak washstand. Taco, who has a friend that buys his furniture finds, might be able to fix it.
    As for sewing, you can make an apron from a yard of fabric. That was my first thing to make in home economics in high school. Just do it! Practice. Just start. Most sewing machine repair places have sewing classes. Jr colleges teach beginning sewing. They also teach paper making.

  • @eavesdroppin1
    @eavesdroppin1 3 года назад +1

    The Kenmore you picked up seems to be exactly like the one I bought new in 1973 and yours doesn't look very used. I made my and my children's clothing, costumes, quilts and many curtains and home goods. Older machines are sometimes better, made of metal and very easy to take apart and service which I really appreciate. I hope the bag has the manual. It would be a good machine for you to learn with as they are not worth much to sell. If you found an older Singer at some point, it would be a good one to try also. I now use a Viking that my sister gave me only because it has some newer features, but doesn't have the power of the old one.

    That police car is the kind of thing you want to have around to give to the toddler of a sibling or friend who has done you dirty at one time or another. The child will have the noisemaker & lights going incessantly. It's best if the toy is motion-activated. That way insomniacs can enjoy them too. We had this V-TEC ladybug that played, "Camptown Races." Took years off my life.
    The grocery store we use (Harris Teeter for you NC folks) used to give out helium balloons to young kids. My girls would bring theirs home, then forget about them. By about 2 AM they had lost enough helium to be about head-high. I don't know how many times I turned the corner during an insomnia-induced stroll and yelled or jumped because I thought I had come face-to-face with an intruder.
    Chid-rearing is not for the faint of heart. Nor the easily-startled.

    Our only TV is sitting on a small stand we got at a rummage sale many years ago. Furniture is second hand, rummage sale or Ikea.
    Except for beds, which we got on sale. Tina

      The only furniture that I have that I purchased brand new was my mattress/frame & my couch. Everything else is either from the auction, flea market, or trash finds.

    Glen and friends Cooking- RUclips, shows you how to repair the kitchen aid. Looks easy , parts can be bought on Amazon. He walks you through it. Great cooking channel as well.
