I kept "normal" aquariums for over 10yrs then 1 day I got a Saratoga which I think is a really unique fish....then it all began, my love for the weird and wacky that is ;)

Actually the creature or rather Mythical Creature your talking about was inspired by a true worm that acts JUST like those monsters from the Tremor movies....
The only difference between the Tremor movie worms & the real life worms is that the Real Life worms actually look even more freaky...with a wicked pair of HUGE jaws held wide open, the worm stands erect out of its burrow and ANYTHING that comes by is either grabbed and dragged to a sandy death or, cleaved in 2...
Another interesting feat about the REAL version of these worms is that for all intensive purposes...they are actually IMMORTAL and one of the very few species that will live FOREVER, the only way the worm can die is if something kills it totally if it is torn in half, the half that escapes will live on and regrow, this worm also never stops growing and so can reach amazing sizes...
And yes I am making preparations for a tank to house one of these worms. ;)

Mantisman I think we have a record of one of those splitting itself into three individual worms...

what did you feed the snails?

MisterE007 They got either left overs from the giant spearer (more often) or a few chunks of uncooked thawed out shell less prawns and the snails will swarm the chunk(s).

+Xandeogre If you look at most "Cone Shelled Shape" Snails they have that "trunk" Conch/Strombus etc.
The Cone Shell Snail your speaking of has a slimmer Shell with very little "grooves" in it etc.
Typically speaking you simply will not be able to purchase a true Con Shell Snail in the hobby due to their lethality.

I thought the snails would have been tossed but not almost gentle pushes aside from the home.

The mantis understands the snails are not enemies or prey.
