Thanks for the video.... I bought one last summer, 2020 thinking I could run the app off my vehicle screen. But no luck, have to use your phone are a tablet. I did see that the banded button is for your steering wheel push to talk while driving. The receive comes through your vehicle speakers. I got the Bluetooth mike/speaker to be more old school.
yeah I know how that goes, hah This one is neat, and so easy to program, I am not sure if I want to build another power box for it or install it in my vehicle and use it with my larger GPS, which is android compatible.
Amazing, thanks for your great video. This paired with an android head unit in a vehicle is golden. No more POS yaesu programming software. If they could pick up compatibility for c4fm/fusion/dstar/dmr etc, that would be GOLDEN.
Great video, one correction. The GPS/HEADUNIT in your car wont control this radio, unless its an aftermarket android headunit that will load apps from the google play store. The factory android auto system wont do it.
I had heard that almost 80% of the head units on the market were android based but yeah, even if they are, if you cant get to the play store you cant do much with them. Thanks for the info.
Yes, I plan on doing more of its features in upcoming videos, amazingly enough I just managed to actually speak to someone on it yesterday, Been a super busy week here, but more vids are coming.
Wow Got my VR N7500 today and have been messing with it all afternoon. Comments: instructions Suck, but it will be fun figuring out all the neat stuff it does. Hope someone writs a better manual. I did not get the bluetooth remote or the adapter to extent the mic. So my question is what is the pin-out for the mic? is it the same as a cat5 ethernet pin-out?
That appears to be true. Having a blue tooth interface does not make this radio SDR. And VERO makes no claim that is an SDR radio. While I can't find schematics or any statement as to the the circuitry it uses, SDR at 440mhz requires an expensive DAC/ADC and there aren't any SDR uhf transceivers available at anything near this price (yet).
Good video and very interesting. Can you control the radio from 2 tablets at the same time or two radios from the one tablet. I am thinking of an EmComm vehicle set up with fixed mounted tablets.
Great Video! Have you thought about an external GPS unit for this Radio? It would be much better than the tablet GPS. When connected to APRS using a bidirectional iGate will the other stations be listed on the tablet? 8P6RC
I gates don't generally digipeat. So are you asking if it shows other stations heard? Or are you asking if running it as an Igate will both RF and APRSIS stations be listed?
I don't see that it has dual receive for monitoring a repeater and a tactical simplex simultaneously. Also, I can only see 16 memories. Can it switch banks? Can you cycle memories with the mic?
You can switch memories and banks with a Mic, and add more memories there than you see, It has a setting on the main screen of the app so you can do dual watch, (monitor both frequencies) Or just single frequency. I am working on another video for it as I finally figured out the APRS functions in it as well, so I will mention the dual watch settings in the next one.
It appears it doesn't do real APRS, digital communication appears to be not APRS (real) compatible...! I see this as the ultimate bike radio if APRS is fixed to work with standard protocol...
Another comment, who knows if the developers of this radio will see it BUT an optional remote-head that has a very small android distro and their interfacing app built into it would be cool. I agree very much that this radio is awesome as it is but a full customizable kit with a dedicated head interface with all of the same graphical functions with programming, APRS mapping, etc would be a killer unit. Kind of like how DJI's drones include a fantastic controller and you use your choice of controlling device for the interface OR you could purchase DJI's controller with built-in mini-android distro unit dedicated to their hardware. I'd pay $400 for that. The highest end icom and yaesu mobile radios look cool but actual built-in functionality isn't awesome.
@@Iridium242 Thank you so much! To see more development on this platform would be amazing. Built in APRS/TNC, digital talk modes, it'd be one killer dual bander.
Hello, great video! Is it possible to use off line maps on your tablet? I'm very interested in being able to message other APRS stations, touch the APRS symbol to bring up a thumb keyboard to send a message direct. Will it handle that? Thanks, 8P6RC
Mine makes a "roger beep" when UN-Keying (I DONT hear the Noise, it is TRANSMITTED, So everyone on air hears it!)..... although its not a beep, it sounds just like what you would hear on a lot of police or other public service radio after UN-Keying.......... Does ANYONE have any idea how to stop this on the VR-N7500 ?

Great now I have to buy another radio. You showed the qty8900 and got 2.

@@Iridium242 I think the PTT can go on your steering wheel.
I got your back, George. Great ham review .
Great video. Mine is on the way.
You already have a tablet so from the user standpoint you can use zello at same time.
I see it in an volunteer installation easily.

What is wrong with Yeasu software?

On your next video can you show the scan function please?

I can see a use for it.
Great review! Great video! 👍
Looking forward to your next Video on this radio. I'm interested in the APRS function on this rig.

Shouldn't matter, as long as you aren't using a crossover cat5 cable you'll be fine to use it as a extension.
Download Version 3.0 of the User Manual.
Good video, thank you. One correction, it is not a software defined radio. Rather it is a software controlled radio via bluetooth.

Thanks for the great vid!
I just ordered one with the bluetooth mike
wILL IT CROSS-REPEAT?
Can I set this to work over my motorcycle helmet for audio and voice? I just purchased this radio to install on my motorcycle

It worked with my phone only or my tablet only so it wont work with 2 devices connected at once

Waiting to see the APRS features.
Its coming up, I already figured it out, just need to make a video but have been swamped with other vids first. Its a whole lot easier than I thought
Is there a manual we can download to read features and specs ?
Can you have the both external speaker plus the mic speaker plus the interface speaker all going at the same time.? I know that's a lot to ask

Would this work with listening to my local dispatchers and talking to Skywarn and National weather service

Vero updated the software. No supports “real” APRS.

Very interesting, thanks!
But, to me it doesn't seems to be so mobile when I look at your power box, certainly way to heavy for me...
Yeah in the radio world, when they refer to something as "mobile" they normally mean car radio lol but it could be a tiny package if you wanted it to.
You mentioned a BlueTooth Handset. Got a link to that? I can't seem to find it on the Vero site or anywhere else. Thx!
Check out R and L Electronics.

Does the app run on a Kindle Fire?
Does the radio have an internal battery or must you use an external power source?
It takes an external 12V nominal source

Do you know how to turn off the rodger beep?
