    That bubble in his ear makes it look like he just came from a battle. I can't wait to see his final look good job lomi. :)

      Oh, that's true! He does end up with some scars in the book... just not on his ear :D

    THANK YOU!!! I’ve been looking for so long for a video of how to cast the inside of the head. I can’t wait to sculpt my own custom now that I know how to cast it!

      Aw, I'm so glad you found it helpful!! I'm sorry my camera caused problems so I couldn't show it 100%, but I am happy it provided enough information to get you started.

    The solution I've found for tricky small areas, preheat the mold in a toaster oven set on lowest, and warm the resin bottles in a hot water bath, do the mixing, then pour a little warm-ish resin into the warm mold and gently roll it around

    Oh my gosh!! He looks amazing! ! I wish I had the courage to do these things. I love how you expand your knowledge and your experiences with all of these new things. Just go for it. I think you're gonna succeed at anything you set your mind to. Thank you for sharing all that you do. Even when it doesn't turn out exactly like you want. Never give up!!!

      Thank you so much, Sarah! It's always exciting when I feel like I can share something big like this--a huge step forward that opens a lot of doors for me with doll customization in the future! I don't know that I'll sculpt many, but knowing I can is awesome.

      What a cool comment. People should be more like you.
      You need to realize though, that you don't always need courage. Most times, you just need to do it. Don't live your life being scared of trying. Not trying means you're not living!

    He's gorgeous! I thought the eyes looked super small at first but they're actually quite realistic. Must be because I'm so used to the large eyes on most BJD's :P

    • @LomisPlayground
      @LomisPlayground  3 года назад +3

      I know, right?! I went back and forth with myself so many times trying to decide if I liked them that way or if I should change it... ultimately I decided to keep them small because it was closer to my drawings of the character that I was using for reference, I figure if I end up not liking it once he's painted... I'll just modify the eyes to make them a little bigger. :D

    It’s perfect... I’m trying to cast some dolls to but I can’t figure out the perfect resin to use

    • @LomisPlayground
      @LomisPlayground  3 года назад +1

      I find everyone has really different opinions on that... there are hundreds of different brands and types of resin. I find Alumilite is the most forgiving of the kinds I've used and has been the most likely to produce bubble-free casts when not using a pressure pot. I know many professional doll makers swear by Smooth-On, but I absolutely hate it. I imagine you'll find as many opinions as there are people. :)

    That's amazing!
    Try using a pressure chamber that's designed for mold casting so it can get rid of the bubbles.
    I'm doing tons of research and I think I'm almost ready to start doing my first figurines and action figures. I can't wait 🥰

    Thank you for sharing this . Really... I've been putting off bjd projects for many years now. A big reason why was because I wasn't looking forward to the molding process. I have a learing disability so its very hard for me to learn certain things without step by step visuals and explanation :/...
    This was a very relaxing video ! A pleasure to watch, thank you ! Maybe could you do another molding process sometime if possible even if it seems "repeated" !??? I just love this so much 😅
    You're sculpt is very beautiful by the way! 😍❤

    • @yeahgirl11
      @yeahgirl11 3 года назад

      Don't be hard on yourself. In fact, many people without learning disabilities need step by step instruction and visuals. Some things MUST be explained step by step because it's so precise. Most people pretend they understand or know what they're doing. They don't.
      I have ADHD and if I'm not taking my meds, learning is extremely difficult for me. Never be ashamed to ask for what you need.

    This has planned the idea of making my own doll head for my girl. I’ve never really seen a head I like for her (being a vinyl doll it takes my option right down). I will have to think about it as I’ve never been confident with sculpture haha.

    • @LomisPlayground
      @LomisPlayground  3 года назад +2

      I wasn't confident with it until this guy either--which is probably why it took me years to get this far. BUT it got a lot easier toward the end, and I'm glad I decided to try it!

    • @ErrorObitsuChan
      @ErrorObitsuChan 3 года назад +1

      @@LomisPlayground Indeed. I would never have thought I would be making my own wigs rather a buying them when I first started collecting dolls and now I aim to only have self-made wigs for my characters. For my vinyl dolls, it would be easier to make my own as they wouldn't have hard nose shapes to make. it would be the lips and eyes I would struggle with. In the future, if I still have not seen a head I like I will most likely make my own.

    Thank you for this video, I am using it as a reference for my own sculpts as I am hoping to make molds for them soon. Question, do you have to apply the petroleum jelly ONTO the master sculpt before pouring oomoo over it? Or is the petroleum/mold release only used during steps where you have to pry halves of mold apart from each other?

    • @LomisPlayground
      @LomisPlayground  8 месяцев назад

      It's not necessary to apply it to the master sculpt at all, no :) My masters are just primer. No clear coat or anything either. The petroleum jelly or mold release is only used to prevent silicone from bonding to what was previously poured, so that you don't have to cut open any parts of the mold.

    Could you do a complete course on how to make BJD dolls please, what happens is that I would like to learn how to make BJD dolls, but there are no complete courses on how to make them.I would like to make BJD dolls of different skin tones.

      I sculpted it that way from the beginning. ^^; So I didn't have to hollow it out afterward.
