Samplers were, still and will be one of the best things to bless the music industry
I LOVE samplers, not to rip music to make collages as much, yet they have amazing potential as signal processors, ways to make original sounds, and to get clear away from presets.it's the way to create music like with analog /modular synths, with even more flexibility...
An MPC and an outboard Tascam digital 24 track make up the core of my studio, I will often record my synths onto the recorder, then sample snippets back into the MPC and use that to lay down other tracks until I have orchestrated several layers. It's my workflow of choice!
Using the Maschine Studio 🟥🟪🟧🟨 since it came out and still loving it ❤️
Love it, the way doctormix enters into a creative state of mind and immerse is awesome, you can tell he's a natural
Samplers are amazing, back in the day i would sample on a cassette player and then Mp3 player and add them in a sampler. These days Mobile phone microphones have come along way. Mixing with a TR909 it was and still is so much fun. You got to release a Christmas Album. Keep up the good work Dr Mix👍
Got a pocket sampler for Christmas last and god it has been so much fun to sample all sorts of things and manipulate them as much as I like. It’s such a fun way to play with tons of sounds rapidly and just experiment
Inspiring indeed! Cool tune, cheers Claudio! Push, Maschine+, Force, OP-Z, Verselab, iPad with million of cool apps ... and I still don't play samples, I mean don't make samples, rarely :) Always get lost in the a synth patch creation, so addictive!
"It is something between discovering and witnessing" - Robert Moog
Loved this video, grazie Dr.Mix ! I don't sample enough, it's a skill that began to fade with the advent of huge ready-made sample libraries.
Thanks you for giving such great vibes in your video, I had a very bad week but your enthusiasm gave me some hope. A long time has passed since the last time I used my MIDI keyboard, tomorrow I'll try to have some fun with it again. I have to go back to playing music!
J’ai la Maschine MK3 depuis quelques mois, et vraiment… C’est un super « couteau Suisse »… Assez ergonomique, et… Surtout la qualité des sons Native Instrument est bluffante… Et les autres aussi bien-sûr… Les effets… Automations… Tout y est… Merci pour ce partage ! 👍
I bought my first sampler recently, MPC Live 2, I was not interested until the new update which allowed USB audio interface so now I can run all of my Synths into it at the same time and don't need to hook anything up. It is an awesome piece of equipment and fun to use. I even started doing Lo-Fi stuff just because it is fun to sample stuff.
Can you explain how you do that? I have an MPC One. Do you use a US MIDI hub?
Doctor Mix you are a legend and a blessing for real!
Great video as always. My favorite gear has always been samplers for their features and limitations. The SP404, Casio SK-1, digitakt, deluge, etc. The ability to create something out of “nothing” is very appealing.
my first pro level sampler was the Ensoniq Mirage. I was 13 when they came out and my parents got it for me :)
Used to have a lovely sampler -- E5000 ultra.
Just didn't mesh with the more digital workflow I was getting into (ironic - indeed).
Anyhow - after stumbling across Audacity, I realised that it has the tools present to perform some of the best and most layered looping for pretty much most of the samples I would ever wish to use...
It's essentially a mirror of the original sound, but using the repair tool to ensure the mirror point was smooth and clean.
Works likes charm!
I discovered that first sampler trick (also discovered the world of sampling at the same time) on iPhone 4 on the super simple sampler on garage band. That’s still my favorite sampler trick and you can use almost any sound in very interesting ways. I love collecting samples from the outside world, using my horns and all kinds of other randomness. You get a completely unique sound every time and always inspiring
Working with Novation Gear now have a Launch Key and Launch Pad. Just fool around and make Lo-Fi and covers using samples from splice. You are always so positive and inspirational. Thanks for posting great content!
Thanks Claudio for another fantastic video!
I have got a Maschine, but have not made much use of it so far.
After seeing your video however, I think I will be having another go and trying to make something good on it.
Keep making awesome videos and inspiring us all to make music!
Still rocking my MPC3000 every day of the year. This baby never failed me and remains the core of my studio.
That is absollutly wonderful!!! Great Job Dr.Mix :)
I wish I'd gotten a sampler sooner. The MPC One inspires my creativity so much more than multitrack recording (though my Tascam 244 was very inspiring back in the 80s). I play into the sampler and chop things around. Also I can experiment with the arrangement so much more easily. I just use the DAW for the final mix but most of the "mixing" is already done by that point.
This is what we do since E-mu and akai build afordable sampler in the 90s back in the 80's it was a niche market for studio and fortunate musician. The first time i sample at home, it was in 1997 with a boss SP 202 and later with a sound card with dedicated short acces ram it was a pain in the ass, but it works real time in MIDI without software latencie.
30 Yr old Casio FZ -1 Still going strong here with External hardware EFX... My First sample was a Belch & I realised then this is what they used in Jurassic Park for TRex :)
Back in the day I had a Roland MKS100 and then an Emu64 sampler.
Sampling is so much fun.
Wow brotha you got the sweet midi’s in the studio! Great video thank you
all the times nice to see you jamming around synthesziers!!! :-D ...and today of course the Maschine by NI... I also have Maschine, but did not use them so much - you know - you also having so much "toys" in your studio ;)
My first sampler was an akai s2000 and a mpc 200xl now I use a korg triton to sample my voice and it’s awesome. So many fun things to do.
Lol love this. Your vids always make me smile. I'm a total newbie trying to understand production and sound design. I have a Roland fantom X7, MPC one, OPZ and A PO33. Still haven't found anything I can get that groove with 🤦♂️ mebbe a digitone, TR8S or an mc707 next. 👍
🙏🏼 for always bringing smiles and positivity to my feed.👊🏽🥂💯🙏🏼🤘🏽
Wonderful sounds well done dr mix. Fabulous. Love the music x🎹
Love my Maschine. Sampling is so easy with it. My buddy and I have made a song made completely out of own sampled sounds from around the apartment. So much fun.
So cool I will have to dig out the Akai Z4, build a PC to use the editor and the SL 1200 and Numark desk... Thanks for the Demonstration and reminding me how fun it is sampling. Top Shelf as always.
My first sampler was the Casio SK-5 !
I've never been in the MPC stuff but more in "classic samplers". I still use my EPSm and, less often, my Akai S1100, but mainly for mangling and crushing sounds and then re-inject them in my DAW.
Actualy I use samplers for their imperfections, like I use RtR tapes or cassette tapes.
Fabulous. I use samplers to chop vocals and voice overs to do weird things and effects to them.
viva los samplers forever and ever
Great topic and super fun tune! I have a few samplers but might have a special place in my heart for my Ensoniq Mirage. It's old and gritty but it does what it does well with unparalleled authenticity. Kind of like its owner! Cheers from SoCal.
Awesome 😎. Loved end track. Going to have a go at recording unusual sounds and piecing together. At moment been using mine more like a tape looper.
Im using the Akai Foce . It has the same mpc stuff into it even the pads , sampler whatsoever ( the workflow is a bit different but overall quite similar).
I only make music with that.
Hi, Claodio I missed the premier Today.. was at work samplers are so much fun
I got my limited Marillion CD Holidays In Eden Live today. Again only 5000 pieces worldwide. I've just heard it and can only warmly recommend it.
I have a bunch of marillion vinyls in a box from my partners late father. Interesting stuff.
Marillion? that genesis lookalike band? Omg.
@@skriptico Yes.
@@j0nny93rs vinyls??
I always enjoy watching your videos
Started sampling on duo cassette players. First one I did was as a kid when I looped a piece of “More Bounce to the Ounce” by Zapp & Rogers. Couldn’t track out more than the loop but it tought me how to keen in on the music that help my sampling when I had my Mpc’s and machine
fantastic! you just made what pink floyd couldn't, back in the 70s. awesome
I'm still using my Akai MPC60 I bought "used" in 1990. Also an Akai s1000, MPC2000, &MPC2000XL.
I had a Casio SK1 sampling keyboard, could sample a whole 1.6 seconds as I recall. Oh how funny it was to burp into the mic and pick out a tune. I was a proto-Nu Shooz.
I really liked this video! I enjoyed getting away from the analog synths and the classic catalog of gear haha. I enjoy samplers more so for the soundscaping and the unique tone they have compared to just sampling vinyls. Great video! 🤙🎧🎶
Thank you Big C.
Nice little minimal, Deep house tune going on there 👌
Thank you. Maschine is a great Tool!
Legend! So inspiring!
I had an Akai X-7000 back in the day.
This was a really nice video! I love your videos!
Crazy mad Italian! Love it!!! 👍🏻
Wow, that was mighty cool. Very enjoyable groove that you created.
I have a Maschine Mikro mk3 and I love it but I rarely use the sampler - the workflow with this controller is awesome though!
That was a fun video!
I am daily using two Roland DJ-70 from '90 italo dance scene with lots of fun !
And of course before that, who could forget the Casio SK1
Always love your contents.... Amazing Person you are
Love this video!
Petra (a Christian band from the mid 80's) did a "Jesus Lives" opus that whilst I recoiled from due to childhood religious trauma, I appreciated as a musician banging around with 8 bit, 12 bit, 16 bit, and 24 bit samplers. Kinda like this. The power of samplers was first (of course) used to sway the congregation. $0.02 Human voice power.
Saw them live many times in the Outdoor Festivals in North Cal - Amazingly talented band & Fantastic down to earth people. Good Memories.
Great video and a groovy little tune 😎
thanks dr mix carisimo amici
One just has to look at some of Skinny Puppy's mid-1980's- early 90's albums like Mind the Perpetual Intercourse, Cleanse Fold and Manipulate, Vivisect Vi, Last Rites, and Too Dark Park, to see the incredible power and versatility of samplers. There's so many sounds that they created in those albums that even to this day, with all my modern equipment, I have no clue how they made, and can't reproduce. I've tried so many times, but there's so many sounds they created that.. I have no clue where to even start if I want to duplicate them.
I love to use my mpc and asr-10 to produce all of my tracks
Oh, this amazing cymbal, sounded by the mouth ... I fell under the table with laughter) Like from me.
Reminds me of the 80's S900 days :-)
Lyra Pramuk is a really incredible voice sample based artist
Awesome video, as always. Ok. Now, which camera's autofocus works THAT fast? Canon's good..... but, that seems like a lot faster. Details, please.
Sony A7C
Lol I've always wanted a nice sampler but either couldn't afford one or couldn't decide on which one so all i have is the Original Korg ES1 and the first Volca Sample. I should make a video 'the power of shitty samplers'.
Wish see you create a dance track with the clavinet , and cheers
Happy thanksgiving week
Im using Akai S1000, Yamaha Motif 7 and Yamaha A3000... Owned all NI Maschines (expect the Studio and the +) but they are to limited because of the software...all sold
Sampling is always fun😎
those magic moments :-)
Loved it👍
Samplers are Ace - lovin my MPC One.
Hey, did you have tried VOCHLEA DUBLER 2?
Catchy stuff! ❤
yep, its looks like at xmas track going down. Where can i buy it
Claudiophonic? Santa claud? Red shirt and all..... hmmmmm. nice groove too bro.
dude, do you edit all your videos yourself? so you're a video editor as well as a musician? Time conuming? What takes more time? videos or music?
I have a team with me ;-)
Why the turntable? Why do you take drums from the recording instead of choosing from an endless library?
When will you be back to Thomann?
Freakin’ love you man :)
Great !! What’s the record of yours that you sampled?
Sunlightsquare Above The Sun, dub mix… I think 🤣
ordered a Maschine Mk3 just yesterday and this confirmed my purchase 😍
now all i need is a good mic - can anybody here recommend a mic for sampling voices and foley? :)
Sm7b for vocals, and a small diaphragm condenser for foley?
@@Doctormix thanks man, i'll look into both! :)
Check out the pioneer DJS 1000
I used to love sampling with the Commodore Amiga and later on my PC but found that the interface was limited and not creatively cohesive compared to dedicated samplers as knobs and switches are way better than mice, scroll wheels, copy, paste & delete functions and I don't think that there was ever a perfect blending of both until modern times.
Fun stuff
Great
What was your record my man? Would love to hear it
Sunlightsquare “Above The Sun”
Astro Dub Mix
Can you Please remake ghostbusters by Ray Parker jr.?
Been using samples and making music from them just for fun.
Just a random commenter passing by 👋
Which Maschine is this?

well done, and there is someone in the studio...2:31
