I think that the fact that European Christians conquered Muslim lands and people and Muslims conquered European Christian people and lands feels different depending on which side of history we feel we identify most. Europe and Christiandome lost; Eastern Rome/Byzantium, Armenia is the Baltic, Hungry, France, Greece, Sicily, Iberia/Spain while Islamdome also lost land to Europe; India, the entire magrib/northern Africa, Malaya, the Philippines, Palestine, Syria/Lebanon, Iraq, Iran... The former Ottoman empire. This may not be the most comprehensive list of conquered lands between Christians and Muslims but it gets to the emotional point I'm trying to make that each side will see the other as the barbarian conqueror and will see themselves as the righteous conquerors.

A nice narrative but I have a few corrections for you if you don't mind. First...your Christabol Colon (Standard bearer for Christ) was NOT Italian, lo siento mi pizanos. He was from Portugal. Not a ginger as portrayed in reconstructed history books of Europe he was another Moor that was given a get out of The Al Andalus card and he took advantage of it. It's a shame that they don't teach this in school here in the US. When I was in school the 80's and early 90's, they claimed that Columbus came to America because he wanted to find a shorter route to India so that it would be easier to trade for spices and silks from India and China. They completely left out any part of the history dealing with him wanting to fight against the Muslims and to get help from the Mongols.

That’s semantics: when you go in a new neighborhood and you say “I’ve discovered a new Chinese restaurant” you’re not claiming that nobody was there to begin with.
