I implement audio for Skywind, a fan-remake of Morrowind. My PC ain't the best, so try not to judge the framerate/graphics too hard. Mechanically speaking, jumping is strange in the Skyrim engine. The coders are still tweaking the arc of our jumps, as well as fixing the footstep sounds you hear while in the air. This is my personal account, so if you have questions about Skywind, visit the website and join the Discord: tesrskywind.com/
I dig this sound. It's not grating on the ears while also not sounding wimpy. Has a good balance of being non-intrusive while still making it very clear your movements are augmented by the spell.
@@cleancloudsit looks like moon-jumping, especially after reaching peak mid-jump. Starting sequence has good speed and feels like you soared into the air in a moment. But after that you simply fall like a feather without speeding up as it should. Ultimately it is up to a personal preferences.
I remember jumping from Balmora to the Fort almost in a single jump with the top-level jump spell. I guess it requires wind blowing in your ears all the way 😀
This is awesome, reminds me of a dream I had where I was falling off a steep ledge, but then I made up a dragon shout on the spot to let me jump higher and negate fall damage.
When I was putting together my mod list and came across the Mark and Recall combo I was surprised to read that it actually came from Morrowind (if I recall correctly...heh). What wasn't a surprise is that some schmucks around the table at Bethesda went "Meh, let's leave that out of future titles. That's a good decision. All agree? Great." Same with the Slow Fall. I only tried it out recently in combination with the Whirdwind Sprint shout, off of mountains and it's amazing. But, nah, let's not give the player too much fun and freedom of movement, Bethesda thought. "Also let's make it so that if you sprint too fast with a horse, downhill, it'll just shoot off the ground, fall and die. Don't let the player have the ability to get around too much, it might break the game and we want them to have that with broken, glitched-out, buggy quests, instead." And the fact the certain bugs still exists to this damn day, after a decade, after so many updates, and now with Starfield...it simply does not bode well for Elder Scrolls VI.
It was an understandable decision. You cannot design complex quests when the player character can teleport out of a cutscene. Well, you can, but it will take ten times the effort, meaning the amount of quests in the delivered product will be even lower.
The become ethereal shout is meant to solve the issue of jumping from high places. If there was a slow fall spell, the shout would offer little benefit. But as it is, it's of the most useful shouts. Though there are only a few useful shouts in general, so maybe that's not saying much.
I don’t think the jump spell is using the same formula as the old jump in morrowind.the behaviour is different I think, the ratio of distance to height is not quite right
@@shganzIs the city graphically somewhat different than it is without mods? For example, I don't recognize that element near the river on the right 0:19 which resambles a tower.

Will Skywind be dumbed down, like have the rpg mechanics of skyrim, or will it be just like morrowind? The journal, no map markers, using directions to find your way?
I mentioned this in my pinned comment. In any case, the footsteps-in-air bug was fixed this month (Nov 2023!) by B0RGS from the coding team. It looked complicated; SKSE reverse engineering stuff. thanks, b0rgs
They will not be taking any content from the remake and porting it over to Skyrim in pieces. You can just download one of the already available magic mods for Skyrim.

good job mate.

there are footsteps while hes in the air though
Looks and sounds very nice and organic. Maybe needs a little speed up.
sounds like Titanfall double jump
Faster? Just why though

Looks better than I expected
look at what they do to have a fraction of our power
I was fully prepared to see the character jump to the moon
omg finally an actual rpg coming again 😮
Doing the lords work bro. Got to get this done and I'll finally buy a PC to play it.
Love casting this spell in balmora, putting on a mask, and jumping rooftop to rooftop like a vigilante
I can't wait for this. I am looking forward to this more than Skybilivion.
Thats it??? Jump from sheogorath to vivec damn it!!
Glad to see this mist effect because it reminds me of old morrowind.
So smooth and fun
Can't wait for my Jump 100 x 8 for 1 second spell. YEET.
Sounds great! Just need to remove the stepping sounds whilst in the air to make it perfect.

You can pretty easily jump from tel branora to solthseim with jump spells especially if u uncap the spell maker
tha'ts Sick, perfect for a Thief character lol
Finally I can play like a ninja with stealth, katana, throwing stars and jump spell
Now jump all the way to Vivec
Footsteps in the air... .
That's perfect!!!

Beautiful
That's what I call Skywalk
Hahaha
damn that's nice

Now we need the Scroll of Icarian Flight
I had better be able to use this spell to go to space
I like the sounds of wind. Reminds me of a strong updraft.
You have nice sound design
Can't wait to play it in VR.
You had a chance to use the sonic bumper audio, and missed it.
Still great though. xD
It's first time I hear about this project. You guys already are going to use Morrowind voicelines? I want to hear them call me N'wah again
That is OUR word!
Can they please just release this next week? i really want to play it and dont want to wait till 2025.
Wow, looks great😮. I hope you can go above and byond like in morrowind
it's Balmora
I don’t think the jump spell is using the same formula as the old jump in morrowind.the behaviour is different I think, the ratio of distance to height is not quite right
I love how I can't tell if it's morrowind over modded or skyrim with few mods x)
bro does this really look like morrowind overmodded?
@@Nickxxx85 honestly yes
Put 99999 thats what we want to see
need to practice more.
sounds like Titanfall double jump
Why walk when you can jump?
Is this Balmora? When the other city part appears at the end of the video I thought this would be an other city.
Yep it's eastern Balmora. At the end of the video I am standing on Balyn Omavel's house and facing the manors across the river.
@@shganzIs the city graphically somewhat different than it is without mods? For example, I don't recognize that element near the river on the right 0:19 which resambles a tower.
@@shganz Bu the way, is this maybe TES online? I fins there's something different from the TES representation of Balmora.

When?
the skyrim sfx are more bothersome than reusing skyrim visual assets would be imo
Will Skywind be dumbed down, like have the rpg mechanics of skyrim, or will it be just like morrowind? The journal, no map markers, using directions to find your way?
It will be closer to Morrowind. There will probably be an option for map markers, though.
Why can you still hear footsteps when your midair? Is there a way to disable footstep sounds when your in the air?

@@shganz I didn't see that. The Skyrim modding community is just plain awesome!
It isn't skyrim unless you're zipping around like the roadrunner on a crate of red bull.
Npc: need to practice more 😅
Pls make a standalone version for consoles with just the skywind spells. That would rock.

No, it will not be on any consoles.
