Link for Adapter Bar for female bikes ⇨ Amazon (paid link) buyersguides.co/allen-tensionbar Link for Allen Sports Bike Rack ⇨ Amazon (paid link) buyersguides.co/allen-sports-bike Thank you for using my Amazon affiliate link. I appreciate it!
Thank you! I really felt like I was going to break the rack when I tried to insert the wire struts into the holes, but your video gave me confidence that I was going about it the right way and I just had to apply brute force.
Thank you for this. I would never have gotten this right with the enclosed instructions. Awesome! Also, the clueless clerk didn't tell me that I needed a cross bar for my women's bike even when I asked about it. I'm ready to travel now.
Good video. I appreciate that you speed through unnecessary sections, like opening and emptying the box. More presenters should employ this courteous technique.
Thank God God RUclips. I modified mine a tad bit by wrapping the clips with the shelf liner from Dollar Tree to hopefully keep my paint from getting damaged. Put it on tight enough that it won't budge when I try to shake it. Now to test it out tomorrow when I transport a bike
FYI ..The TOP TUBE ACCESORY BAR for the girls bike might not be needed in many cases. Just put the bike onto the rack so that the horizontal bar of the rack (with the red tip) passes immediately next to the rear tire and the vertical bar of the bike. The other red tip bar will probable be the right height to cradle the other end of the bike.
Thank you for doing this! So helpful! I hate written a instructions! You also make it seem so easy to get the sticks in those holes! It was hard for a 5.2 girl
Thanks for explaining how to load a ladies bike..I have been trying for three day. The bike would not fit..Never thought about raising the seat...Great tip...
Thank you! I just bought this rack to be able to transport my son's bike from school back to home when necessary, we're not avid riders and the instructions were a little wordy and somewhat confusing. I'd have really liked to see what kind of knot or tie off you used when securing the extra straps.
I am going to get one, but I’m not sure why you have it so “high” on the trunk. It appears that if you place the bottom bar on metal below the license plate (not on it) you would still have the top bar on the top of the trunk -and the bars would be actually more level. I don’t know, I’ll see when I install it.
Just got this as a gift this past Christmas and just waiting for the nice weather. Do you have any more additional comments (pros or cons) now that you’ve had it for awhile?
so many comments about the license plate.... he clearly installed it upside down which causes that issue. read the instructions and look at the pictures guys. mine does not cover the license plate because I installed it correctly
FYi ...Old Post but someone else might have same question..... Actually you are PULLING up on the metal hooks. Once you lift up on the hooks just lower the tip end of the hook into the hole. Once you pull up hard, you really MUST be careful that your fingers are not MASHED when it is time to actually lower the metal hook tip into the hole. You might be going to ER if your finger gets mashed. I would guess that many females (that may not have the upper body strength) may need to find someone to help them, OR you might be able to use a piece of wood or screwdriver or something to LEVERAGE the wire up and drop it in the hole.
Please help me figure out how to get my female bike on the rack! I have the adapter bar but the front wheel sits way too close to the ground. I have a 2008 Honda civic. Is my only solution to remove my front wheel? I am going on 71 and live alone so any solution has to be something I can do by myself.
Thanks. I think I saw a different comment from you about that middle bar. Girls bikes tend not to have a middle bar so that you can swing your legs through easier but you need that tension Bar thing so you can connect to bike rack.
I just found this rack at my Walmart for $5 but didn't realize racks we're not built for woman style bikes. Will it absolutely not fit my bike without one?
So, after using this for 4 days I have to say, the only complaint I guess I have about it is that the side straps on my vehicle didn't really have anything to connect to except a very small space, because the only corners I could attach to are where where the lights are. But the side straps didn't seem to hold very much tension at all compared to the top and the bottom, so maybe it didn't matter much.
Concerned about putting the bottom of the rack directly on the license plate - no scratches? Also the metal hooks, read another post about putting tape on them? Your thoughts?
Can't get the metal pins in those holes for the life of me...and I'm pretty strong. Do i need to call in a stronger person? What am i doing wrong?! Ughhhh
They can be difficult but try moving the black arms around a little before pulling the pins out. If the arms are torqued it’s going to make it difficult to get the pins out.
Probably. I haven't experienced anything though. I figure it has 1000 reviews on Amazon (or something like that). If it was bending people's trunk people would be sure to leave a review about that.
I'm replying to your 3 year old comment. Better late than never. You HAD 1 year of warranty you couldve used if it broke. High end ones are hundreds of dollars and they attach to the tow hitch. Big hassle to install and remove. Oh, and just wondering if you bought the rack 3 years ago... Did you like it?
@@kj-marslander Actually, there is a deluxe and a premier model of this same two bike Allen rack. The premier is about $99, so a bit more than twice the cost. I too have been wondering if the premier is worth the money.
Hello! At the beginning of the video he mentioned he purchased a Top Tube for women's bicycles. I had to get the same one for my beach cruiser. Hope it helps!
+Robert Clark I think its good, no scratches or anything like that and haven't lost a bike.W Wish I could figure out a better way to keep the wheels locked.
+Eric Worral I just bought a brand new in the box Allen 2 bike hitch rack for 20.00 from a lady on a local Facebook yard sale site.. I think its very good quality. I see those strap on racks here all the time in thrift stores for 5.00 or less.
Ok I used this for the first time this past weekend, and after 4 days of riding around with it on the back of my car, it seems okay. The only parts that look like they might be rubbing on the paint is the thin edge where each connects and you can't really see unless you really inspect it super close. Actually I had a paint issue but it was from the bike rubbing, not the rack.
I don't understand how I'm not going to get pulled over with my license plate completely obscured like that. I commute to college twice a week; the round trip is two hours. I wanted to use this rack to take my bike to campus with me, but to be on the road that much with my license plate obscured seems like a high risk gamble for a ticket...

Thank you!!! Finally bought a bike after a few years and couldn’t recall how to put this back on my car. I appreciate your video!
Thank you! I really felt like I was going to break the rack when I tried to insert the wire struts into the holes, but your video gave me confidence that I was going about it the right way and I just had to apply brute force.
I don’t get how you did that. The steel struts don’t go anywhere near the holes
I thought I would break my finger.
omg you helped a lot man, the instructions were super confusing
They were
Man Forreal
Especially the one that came from the company it self these people sucks and don't care...
Oh my god thank you so much ! I lost my manual on how to install mines but not only did your video help , we have the same car , thank you so much
+LatinoPride214 isn't it awesome when you look up a video and it's the same car too. It's like someone made the video just for you.
I haven't used my rack in forever and couldn't remember how on earth it worked.. thank you!
Yea! I did it right! Just watching for confirmation. I don't trust myself, and I didn't want to destroy the bike, or the car behind me,lol. Thank you!
Super helpful thank you so much! We were ready to return it because of the instructions! Took less than 5 minutes after watching, great video!
Thank you for that. I was missing the step that pinned the wire struts into the side bar. Very helpful. Thanks.b
Thank you for this. I would never have gotten this right with the enclosed instructions. Awesome! Also, the clueless clerk didn't tell me that I needed a cross bar for my women's bike even when I asked about it. I'm ready to travel now.
Where did you buy it from?
Thank you Eric. Other videos were so confusing. You made this easier for me to understand.
Good video. I appreciate that you speed through unnecessary sections, like opening and emptying the box. More presenters should employ this courteous technique.
Thanks a bunch🎉🎉🎉 Forgot how to put on my car but u helped
Thank you so much!! This video was so clear! Using the extra roping to tie/secure the bike wheel was brilliant!!
Super helpful!! I got the exact same one from Amazon! Thank you for sharing the instructions!
I got this bike carrier model and tried to install it on my older vw beetle, works just great! Your video helped a lot!
Thanks for the instructions, so much simpler than what comes in the box
FYI ..The TOP TUBE ACCESORY BAR for the girls bike might not be needed in many cases. thank you, helped me install mine. papa bless the internets
Very informative unlike another video I just watched. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for doing this! So helpful! I hate written a instructions! You also make it seem so easy to get the sticks in those holes! It was hard for a 5.2 girl
Haha yeah I'm 6'5" so little bit different. My wife always makes me put the bikes on.
Ungodly hard to get the pins in the holes...
Nancy Esc Yes, I'm 5"3 and it's damn near impossible to lift the bikes that high!!
thanks glanced at manual then watched your video...made it much easier
+Chad Cameron I believe every manual should have a link to a video tutorial. I think it's crazy every big company doesn't invest in doing that.
Great, easy to follow instructions. Thanks
Thanks! Needed this video!
Thanks for explaining how to load a ladies bike..I have been trying for three day. The bike would not fit..Never thought about raising the seat...Great tip...
+Rachel leal no problem! Ride on Rachel!
Thanks for the help man!
Thanks man good video. Have you ever been pulled over for the obstruction to your number plates or over hang?
awesome video!! i could not figure it out until i watched this video thank you!
Thanks man! Their directions are suspect for sure.

Just bought mines on eBay can’t wait
thank you for having the same rack I bought and an altima.
+Matt Montoya funny how that works right. So how screwed do you think your Broncos are at QB this year? It'd be a shame if they wasted that D
Love it
Thanks a lot for posting this, very helpful
Thank you!!👍
Thank you sooo much excellent video!
Thanks dude it helped ALOT.
Helped me alot. I even got a altima ..
dumb question. can you open the boot with the bikes?
Thank you !! good video 👍
Helpful!
Me and my friends are dumb asses and this video definitely helped us set it up 😂
Thank you did you have any issues with paint over time? I drive a dodge charger and got this for me and my sons bikes
Very useful. Thanks.
any suggestions on hatch back cars??? can they be used on this??
hi. you have a hidden suggestion. it says something like "lower left tire..." but the film suggestions are obscuring my view of the info
I am going to get one, but I’m not sure why you have it so “high” on the trunk. It appears that if you place the bottom bar on metal below the license plate (not on it) you would still have the top bar on the top of the trunk -and the bars would be actually more level.
I don’t know, I’ll see when I install it.
Thank you❤
Do you have to have a top tube for a women's bike?
Do you have to do it with the trunk open??
Just got this as a gift this past Christmas and just waiting for the nice weather. Do you have any more additional comments (pros or cons) now that you’ve had it for awhile?
so many comments about the license plate.... he clearly installed it upside down which causes that issue. read the instructions and look at the pictures guys. mine does not cover the license plate because I installed it correctly
If he installed it upside down, the bike cradles would e facing the wrong way.
How do I bend the metal hooks ? This is my only problem 😫😫
Hey uhh.. just push real hard. Hope you figured it out after 2 years :) lol

Thanks man, helped a lot.
Thank you
does the pedal of fist bike touch the car trunk? How far is the bike from the trunk? Seems like pretty close.
I can’t get the wire rods to insert into the holes! It’s really really tough to do! Help!
Can you still use the trunk? Do you leave it on full time?
Please help me figure out how to get my female bike on the rack! I have the adapter bar but the front wheel sits way too close to the ground. I have a 2008 Honda civic. Is my only solution to remove my front wheel? I am going on 71 and live alone so any solution has to be something I can do by myself.
Thx. The written directions were complicated.
Nice. Doesn't look too hard.
Great video! Are you happy with continental town & country tyres?
Is it legal to do it like that? I want to buy a rack but it seems like they block the rear lights and number plate. For sure it does on a sedan.
love the video
Same here
How did you get yours for 5$ I paid 30 for ours.
Jonathan Washington someone probably returned the stupid rake and it went on sale.
So, after using this for 4 days I have to say, the only complaint I guess I have about it is that the side straps on my vehicle didn't really have anything to connect to except a very small space, because the only corners I could attach to are where where the lights are. How does this bike rack hold up over time?
Thanx helped me out. Mine didn't come with side straps though
Concerned about putting the bottom of the rack directly on the license plate - no scratches? Also the metal hooks, read another post about putting tape on them? Your thoughts?
+Kelly May I haven't seen any scratches yet, but I have a white car and I'm not very car obsessed. Some people prob care more about that than I do.
thanks so don't take strap off when bike is sitting in crease?
Thanks
Can't get the metal pins in those holes for the life of me...and I'm pretty strong. Do i need to call in a stronger person? What am i doing wrong?! Ughhhh
They can be difficult but try moving the black arms around a little before pulling the pins out. If the arms are torqued it’s going to make it difficult to get the pins out.
If i go bike riding, can I leave the rack on the car or will someone be able to take it?
Someone can take it.
you will have to unstrap it and watch the 3:54 video again.
Wear it like a backpack till you need it again.
is there any danger of your trunk being bent n affecting it being able to close?
Probably. I haven't experienced anything though. I figure it has 1000 reviews on Amazon (or something like that). If it was bending people's trunk people would be sure to leave a review about that.
Cheers bud
any problems with police and the bike rack?
I just got mine today and after watching this video realized it obstructs the license plate. Has this been an issue for anyone in getting pulled over?
I ordered one of these and have been wondering the same thing.
Is this illegal since it covers the license plate ?
Strangely, mine did not come with the side straps.
How do you feel about the premier one compared to this one idk which one to get I in scared this one would fail since its cheaper

You're cool
My thing is I have the rack but the weight says 70lb but it looks like I should be good because you had two bikes on yours
And how does the PoPo read your tags?
My wife's bike doesn't have a straight bar how can mounted?
Hello! At the beginning of the video he mentioned he purchased a Top Tube for women's bicycles. I had to get the same one for my beach cruiser. Hope it helps!
Still stuck on getting the pins in the holes. They won’t fit
Ok I did it but almost chopped my fingers off.
entropy same here, I finally got it. How do you like yours? I used mine all last weekend, and it worked pretty well.
Thank you, the instructions in the box were useless.
Would this work with a Hyundai Veloster my hatch back has glass top
Wondering the same thing for my Veloster
How you liking your Verve 1?
you don't need to open the trunk to insert the side straps.
What do you think of the way you secure bikes to rack?
+Robert Clark I think its good, no scratches or anything like that and haven't lost a bike.W Wish I could figure out a better way to keep the wheels locked.

I dont think this is legal with states that recommend seeing your licenses plate for toll charge
The metal hooks are designed to come into contact with painted surfaces? I can't believe people buy these things. Am I missing something here?
NewHampshire Bound that can't be right!

Hoop Jeanne I used this for the first time this past weekend, and my plate was partially obscured as well, but wasn't a problem.
It is definitely illegal
This helped me so much, the directions did nothing for me!
I keep jamming my fingers in the wire struts. Not possible.
Si papa ya vi el vídeo
Mine didn't came with the side straps... It's actually for 3 bikes...
tenho um semi novo p trocar ou vender
cheap and secure
How do you mount a woman's bike though?
IKR
Julian Moreno you have to buy the bar that he uses at the beginning of the video
