That was such a wholesome interaction at the end. Props to Glutonny for showing excellent sportsmanship and a willingness to help. Fatality so politely asking that question also shows real maturity and a strong desire to get better, especially after what must have been a really tough set to go through. This is what the Smash scene needs more of.

Really? Idk why but i kinda feel that was disrespectful, i mean i know they're not holding feelings or something but that motion to look away from your actual position just makes it look like you dont want to be there or you rather be somewhere else

I liked the sportsmanship between these guys at the end. It's a pretty tough pill to swallow, losing by that much (I know Gluto is like one of the top 5 players in the world, but still), but I love how Fatality just doesn't call it a day and move on but actually asks for advice. That's some king shit right there.
This was a very good set to watch. Gluto really knows how to maximize his punishes. Made Fatality pay for every little mistake. 10/10 vid

So basically at the end Glu was saying that fatality is overextending and Glu adapted to that and was baiting him to overextend, and then punishing it.
edit: Glu actually gave some good advice. Might be a hard pill to swallow, but Fatality will be a better player at the end of the day asking for criticism!
It's pretty insightful too that he essentially says like, he doesn't have to know *what* Fatality is gonna do, what matters is that he knows he's going to do an attack and it really simplifies the game that once an opponent's habits are clear he can do less and keep getting more out of it until they adapt to what he's doing.

Awesome vid. Gluttony and fatality are really good players. It was cool to see Glu give him some pointers on where fatality was lacking and the mistakes he was able to exploit.

Very smart of him and truly hungry players will always do that. It would be a waste to play sets with someone and not look for what they're seeing when they're winning or even if it's close.
interesting how these games were silent compared to the ft10 with peanut where they chatted back and forth, cool to see a mix between serious and somewhat casual sets on the channel
I commented about this on the peanut ft10 and someone thought everytime fatality was losing and played quietly meant he was salty. Far from that. He immediately asked for advice when he lost. Good players and sportsmanship from both sides.
Surely that depends on the person he's playing with. Peanut seems like a chatty guy while Glutonny is french and you can't play your best while your trying to speak a foreign language
Also Peanut’s in a position where he’s playing to learn, absolutely not to win. Fatality and Gluto don’t need that nearly as much as Peanut does so they can afford to be a lot more quiet.
I dont know but English is not Gluttony's first language so there can be a slight language barrier.

Fatality has always been super aggressive its def something that holds him back but makes him so much fun to watch.
Yeah a less aggressive fatality wouldn't be as fun to watch
Yeah and it sucks because we all love to watch the aggression, but in this game, aggression is rarely rewarded over being patient... unless you are playing fox or pika or Roy or some character like that that can get away with it. Or at the very least, their aggressive options are harder to snuff out compared to Falcon's knee which is easy to beat with a higher priority hitbox (as happened at 30:50. Fatality got the weak knee that time, but Gluto KNEW he would do it the next, so just met him with a back air). I mean, think of how many lower-level players don't pick up on the aggressive habits and Fatality gets away with it. Habits are HARD to get rid of when you get away with it against almost every other player you've ever played. Gluto is in that mix of top 5 players that have that high of a level that they can see things like this.
Anyway, agreed with both your and Eyad's comments here. Fatality wouldn't be as great to watch if he didn't go for shit all the time.
You can still be hyper-aggressive. You just need to know when to pull the trigger more. My guess is that once he feels threatened he pulls the trigger due to nerves or something, maybe even adrenaline? But the stuff Gluto said at the end is definitely true. He's a very aggressive player and when he plays the top 5 that just isn't going to work. Below that it'll work most of the time though. I also think the advice he gave at the end would apply to Marss pretty well.
@@jonteguy I was thinking about it and even if it doesn't look as hype watching him play. It will def be hype seeing him in grands or close to it in big tournaments. I'm not sure he is going to improve on tho. Judging by how they were talking at the end it seems like fatality doesn't really see his point yet.
@@jonteguy He does it because it's a defensive reaction to when someone sees through his neutral. When he loses control of the pace, he starts trying to brute force games and go for risky hail Mary's.

Damnnn dude, Fatality way better than me but that advice Glut gave wasn't just jibberish. He carefully analyzed Griff into the games and gave it to him straight. Fatality my fav smash player so wish him the best!!

I appreciate how he posts videos of him losing...even badly like in this set. And then was humble enough to include his conversation with Glutto afterwards. I haven’t seen a single player do that. Because he is willing to take advice and learn, I think Fatality will be a top 5 player in the world within the next year. He’s already one of favs to watch. Love your content Bro, keep working!

Also the advice at the end would apply to *Marss* as well I think. Great set guys and I hope you took his advice to heart. Being aggressive is definitely a "know exactly when"-thing. You're amazing though Fatality, just when fighting the top 5 in the world you will probably be dissected more. So expect that, great advice imo.

Props for going for one of the best in the world. With MKLeo, Sparg0 and Light, Gluto is making smash history right now. And you showed great gameplay against him. You are for sure the best Falcon and I'm sure you could be top 10 if you just practiced enough of those players. Keep in mind that that both Sparg0 and Gluto practiced Leo so much, that's how they became so good. Good luck to you pal.

And hell yeah, bootcamping with Team Mexico, he had a tournament yesterday where he defeated Maister in winners semis and grand finals :)

I think the pity of fatality in the 7th game made him lose concentration, while glutonny focused on the rest of that game, since that fatality just lost momentum and got desperated for remaining games.

I thought it is his way to remember something like fatalitys habbits. You know like chess players who dont really look at the board to think. I think void does that too but between games. Gluto does it every stock

Great games and really good to see Fatality get some feedback from Gluto. Shows he's willing to level up even further, and it's definitely needed.
Imo, aggression is a band-aid for sub-par neutral. He lacks the confidence to keep up the pace in neutral and just Gives it to Gluto. You can see it real time, as the games go on, Fatality becomes more and more aware of how Gluto has a far better grasp of the neutral than him. And in response, Fatality basically gives up on that race and resorts more to overly aggressive and risky plays.
I.e. "This guy is tracing me like crazy, dominating me at the ledge and dictating the pace entirely. I need to go for nair 1 knee, super deep edgeguards and hail mary reads and hope I get lucky". When your gameplan devolves to that, you may as well resign. That may work on lesser players and people with MU inexperience, but it's basically a white flag to a top professional with a world contending neutral.
That bucket of mayonnaise (Wario) has no business being as fast as he is but he’s so fun to watch when played optimally.
Gluto is just in another level. Sheesh.

Two things I noticed and please take with a grain of salt, is that you throw out up smashes frequently and rarely does it capitalize. I think in the most recent matches I've seen you in, I don't recall many punishes being executed by up smash, more like you are getting punished for using it.
Secondly, I feel you are too afraid of engaging by the ledge when Glutonny was hanging. Instead you'd back off and give him space which to me allows for more options for Glutonny to get back on stage without punishment. With Kola against Glutonny, Kola seemed to stand right on the edge to apply ledge pressure and I think it paid off for him overall.
Anyways, that's my observations and I hope it can be of some help!

This is a soft spike basically. Wario's stagger animation for it is just comical lmao. Most characters just kind of crumple and freeze in a hitstun animation.

Fatality gets very, very little from ledge trap situations, glutonny frequently gets damage when ledge trapping. Some players get a lot of kills from ledge traps. Just a thought
A lot of that is also the character tho. Falcon doesn't have a lot of active hitboxes that he can use to threaten the ledge, and most moves only cover 1 or 2 options. Bair and nair are his safest options to use on the ledge, but even those got punished early on by a quick wario nair from the ledge into his devastating combo game.
Watching people play smash makes me want to play smash lmao…

This a battle of simplicity vs complexity.. simplicity won... fatality was over doing way too many situations.. instead of taking what he got... he got 2 jabs.. instead of completing it he stop and down smash.. or try to go for call outs... where as glut was playing so basic and normal and just watching and acting accordingly.... i despise wario.. but glut gameplay subsidies my personal disdain for wario

Once I seen fatality switch characters.. I was like Gluttony is in his head . This was a great fucking set nonetheless both players are monsters at the game.
"Glutonny has a deep pocket of secondaries that he often uses in winner side sets at European tournaments. He only switches to Wario after being sent to the losers bracket or after a bracket reset in Grand Finals." So why does he straight up use wario here?
I think he really wants to use the oportunity to be at CEO to train his main against very good players, such as Fatality here.
In Europe he mostly goes for secondaries until he may lose, more as a way to entertain himself. But here, facing a strong opponent in a kind of "training session" he probably just want to perfect his skills and the match-up knowledge so he focused on his main.
Gluto is currently in a phase where he got pretty good results but feels it's not enough at all so it seems he has no time to train secondaries for now and he focuses more on Wario in situations where he can face top players.

Tough matchup. Gluto converts 0-70 so consistently out of a single hit.
I get his advice about not going needlessly on the offensive, but I don't think Falcon is really suited to be played defensively. He doesn't have that good of an initial dash, awful turnaround and slow OOS.
His moves aren't really very safe on shield, except for maybe fast fall nair, and that's still pretty commital as you need to land on top of the opponent - if they have a fast oos, they will likely be able to punish you for that too.

I think gluto was saying he should focus more on resetting neutral rather than going for a reversal when in disadvantage. He was saying he adapted to that really well and was able to bait out positions that made fatality think he could hit from disadvantage when it was easy for him to avoid that then punish. That's not necessarily playing defensively, just not excessively aggressive. His air speed and run speed give him powerful tools in neutral.
@@dennisd.4726 I agree with this 100%, I also took from what he was saying was that he realised fatality wasn't mixing up how agressive he was when breaking out of disadvantage, so if fatality played in some bait and punish when it looked like he was going to attack out of disadvantage, then fatality could've played aggresive out of disadvantage at some points as gluto would be conditioned to the bait and punish. I think that makes sense
Fatality falls for a lot of baits, but damn is he a beast and most likely the best Falcon player in the world, so no pressure on him :P
