Sabaton is a band from Sweden. They write songs about actual events in history. December 1914 during christmas the germans and the english soldiers decided to have a truce. They played football and gave each other gifts. Not everywhere but on many places this happened. In some places for several days but mostly for a day or two. And then back to fighting although a lot of soldiers did not want to fight with their new friends so many of them was replaced and moved to other places.
This is not the only Sabaton song that makes me cry every time, but it is the song that turned me into a fan. When Pär is carving the date on the cross at the end it hits me because my country has sent soldiers abroad to fight every year since the First World War, which was known as "The War to End All Wars" - more like "a war that never ends", as they sing here. Can I recommend their cover of _1916_ next (official music video)? That one hits hard too. Glad you watched to the end, it's always worth it with Sabaton.
Welcome to the Sabaton Army! Thank you for your heart reaction to this great video and song. Sabaton sings about history, that is their message. You might want to try "1916" next or for a live concert, try "en livstid i krig" It's in Swedish but it has subtitles. This one will show you how popular they are. Also try "Soldier of Heaven", "Seven Pillars of Wisdom" or "Bismarck". The list goes on and on. Hope to see more Sabaton on your Channel.
Great reaction of a true story retold through music. Sabaton is a band with a loooong list of history based music. and also an award winning history channel (academic award! not music) that gives background to over 100 if their songs. Sabaton videos often have dedictions and/or messages at the end, perhaps not always but, watching to the very end is frequently well worth it. Animated STORY videos (short history lessons with music videos in them, just enough history to add to the feel of the music) No bullets fly Night witches Lady of the dark Red baron Christmas truce epic OFFICIAL videos. Bismark, about the sinking of the ship Defence of Moscow, self explained. Christmas truce, about the spontaneous truce in some parts of the western front during Christmas 1914 that you just saw. 40:1, about polish soldiers, badly outnumbered (just under 750 in all) facing 42 000 germans, they where BADLY outgunned desperately defending against the German invasion 1939, they held their position for THREE DAYS. Uprising, the Warsaw Uprising against the nazi germans during 1944. To hell and back, they tell the story of Audie Murphy (highly decorated) and his struggle AFTER the war, so about PTSD and drug addiction that returning soldiers can face. Fields of verdun, the insanity of the 300+ day long battle fought there. Price of a mile, about the battle of Passchendaele Screaming Eagles, about the battle of the bulge during ww2 1916 (cover of the Mötörhead song) Live performances 40:1 from poland Uprising from poland En livstid I krig live from Göteborg Sweden (in Swedish but there are subtitles) , very heavy again, about thoughts of a young man going to war. these are just some, there are plenty more from them
🤩👌💥💯🎼 If this track, which is based on true events, doesn't already is touchy Floor Jansen's voice on the end credits should move something inside every one of us... 🤘😎 🇫🇮 💙
Great reaction! And big kudos for letting the entire video run until the end. All Sabaton songs/videos should be let go to the end for potential easter eggs or information. FACTS: The end operatic vocals was sung by Floor Jansen who is the singer in Symphonic Metal band Nightwish and also married to the drummer in Sabaton, Hannes van Dahl. Hannes was the soldier climbing up from the trenches first. Please enjoy more Sabaton songs and I would recommend "En Livstid I Krig (A lifetime of war) Live: ruclips.net/video/WBs3G1PvyfM/видео.html NOTE: REMEMBER TO TURN ON CLOSE CAPTIONS AS THEY SING IN SWEDISH ON THIS SONG.
The guy with long blond hair, the drummer of Sabaton, yup he is married to our Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen. She is also singing during the credits.
