  • A great example of how a live studio recording takes shape and refines over time like an artist with a painting, but in this case take after take. The song gets progressively slower with each passing take, but ultimately the entire style (including the horn arrangements) are changed to a go-go! Very interesting, boys.

WOW! It's a bit late but thanks for this. A definite treat for the ears and soul. I recently bought a compilation of Everly Brothers ballads and came across this song which I had never heard but instantly liked. It's amazing how the feel and character of the base song can change depending on the arrangement, tempo and instruments used. I can see how a recording session could be exhausting for the musicians. I wonder what went into the final decision as to which version would be released? These unreleased versions are sometimes real gems. I really liked the 3rd version.
