Mogwai: Christmas Steps (1998) Official Video

- Video by Brian Griffin. »Christmas Steps« was released on the album »Come On Die Young« (1999). Originally, the video had its audio track from a poorly recorded early version of that song (from the »No Education« EP). I replaced it with the familiar, classic version. All copyrights remain with the artist/label. This video is extremely hard to find online, so I thought I'd share it.

This was my wifes favorite song before she passed away. I think this is one of the greatest albums in the history of music. I still love it and her.
Oh, man - thank you for sharing. Your wife was clearly a beautiful person; I'm sorry for your loss. Much love heading your way
I feel your wrought, solid, tenderness, my friend of the night. John Peel, yet again, expanded my conceptions with music genres, post rock was just another sublime extensions, such as Mogwia, Ariel M. So full of darkness & empathy, but also hope.
I was 19 and still really into emo when I picked up Come on Die Young at indie music store. I'm 42 now and will always love Mogwai.

Well, thanks man.
Yep thanks to that guy
Oh my God Come On Die Young... Best album ever by Mogwai.
And probably one of the best albums of all time
I remember watching this twenty years ago and I wasn't paying much attention but it reached 3:26 and my life changed. Been a fan ever since.
One of the best build-ups to a climax in a song ever. All-timer
this bass line makes me wanna scream. hell yeah
"The hard working man receives a present one day. He has hope now to leave behind his old life & sets off to go to the modern world.
But, Alas! What he sees, leaves him broken. He dare not go to the city ever again."
Did you just make that up or did you get it from somewhere? Googling yielded no results, if you did make that up on your own, GOOD JOB!
I listen this music every day...
Best song of the best band, imho.
i don't hate my job quite as much anymore... no seriously, this video is incredible
This is my Mogwai's favorite song, and this video makes me tripping every time i watch!
土豆网 Haha. This takes me back. Still causes the hairs on the back of my neck to stand up.

when mtv aired good music...
There's no such thing as "good" music. It's all subjective.
Wow, never knew there was a video, but it's certainly pleasing to see there is :D
It Reminds me Slint's song "Nosferatu Man"
Both are incredible pieces of music.
I too was getting big Slint vibes.
I dont know why
This song made me sad
Thanks for sharing

or boots huh
I prefer the No Education version - the guitars sound too polished and underpowered on the CODY version
Gee I don't know. Song is new to me, I'm flicking back & forth tween this and the version on "rage" the Australian music video show, it was guest programmed by Mogwai. That other version (NoEd?) is deeper, murkier, darker, bassier, and this one is more exciting somehow, but both are excellent
What’s the meaning behind the video
A man unable to deal with this world.
Aquel que preferiría dar ese último paso insinuado por el demonio de lo perverso, por antinatural que fuera, es mejor caminar a la muerte intentando sentir algo...
