- The Washington State Fair is one of the most sought after fairs in the country, due to a few of its permanent attractions that you can only experience once or twice a year. These include a Schwarzkopf Wildcat, an S&S drop tower, and the legendary Classic Coaster! This 1935 wooden coaster features an out and back layout known for giving some pretty insane airtime! We were thrilled to get the opportunity to visit the fair for our first time and share with you our experience!

I about jumped off my couch during the insane airtime moment on the coaster! Looked like Sarah legit almost got yeeted out of the train 😳 that slowmo shot of the two little girls is crazy too!!!
Nah this ride has decent airtime compared to Tiger Trek 😫😫
YOu should go on it. I went on it today and i can confirm its super crazy on the 3rd and 4th drop
I live in Washington and go to the state fair every year and the airtime on that drop is crazy. There’s a reason there’s a seatbelt on it.
Sweet Jebus!! Sarah nearly got thrown out! Never seen Taylor or Sarah look scared on a coaster, but damn!
I'm midway through the video and that zoom onto the kid getting out of the Zipper; the only ride to get me dizzy as a kid. Now I just like watching it cycle because it is very kinetic.
The fact that 2 John Miller designed coasters (this and Zippin Pippin) have a bat$hit insane ejector moment leads me to believe it was actually intentional. Absolute mad lad!
That's madness. It almost looked like Sarah was about to be thrown out of the car there.
Wow! It was so fun seeing my state fair being featured and seeing the reactions from outsiders. I'm so used to the fair since I work there... in fact you were filming just 50 feet from where I was working that day!... that I take a lot for granted. It's so nice to see others enjoy themselves and it gave me a fresh perspective of what I see all the time. And just a little side note, 2023 marked a year that they really scaled back and didn't have nearly the same amount of stuff (shows, exhibits, animals, activities) as in the past!
What!! It is SO SO SO funny that you featured the 'Puyallup Fair' as it was called when I grew up there! lol. Yes, I am from Tacoma, and believe it or not; this was my VERY FIRST job out of high school in 1979! I operated the coaster as a 'Brake Man' for 3 years, along with the Sky Ride. The funny thing is that you mentioned 'so many rides here....' there is NOTHING now compared to how many there were in the 70's and 80's. One year Funtastic Rides logged in at 128 rides!! There were at one time 4 coasters. I'll never forget the 2nd time it burned, and they rebuilt it 90% and never painted it back to it's original red and white! Corky Anderson used to own the Coaster and the sky ride. Did you know that the sky ride is the SAME one that Elvis Presley rode in the 1962 movie 'It Happened At the World's Fair'? Yes, that came from the Seattle Center / Fun Forest!. I remember when the 'Old Mill' and the original Fun House were still there! Oh, man you MUST look up Chance Rides 'Turbo' and The Twister. These were the BEST rides, and when they no longer brought them back....the Fair went down hill from there. Timberhawk is even better than 'Classic Coaster'. I remember ythe year 'Classic' derailed and sent 14 to the hospital!! If there were ways we could post pics, it would be great to send you some 'classic pics of this Classic'.
Richard
The airtime on that coaster looks to be about the same as coaster at PNE Playland
Except Coaster ejects you with every hill, not just one.
Her instantaneous facial expression change the second the off camber ejector hit was hilarious. That looked FUN!
Taylor has never been on a zipper? WHAT?! One of my core memories is going on the zipper with my buddy, and he pulled out his phone and started blasting some funny music and we’re just grooving to the music until all hell breaks loose and his phone started flying around the cage. That’s pretty much the only ride I even go to the fair for. Every other ride besides the zipper and the fireball are too lame lol
Wild Cat is indeed a great coaster. It's very fun and ridiculously smooth. The downward right bank is a ton of fun.
Go north to PNE and ride the other unnamed wooden coaster there. Way more airtime!
I'm happy you rode the Hexentanz. There's only like two of them in the world.
Grew going to the what used to be called Puyallup Fair….those rides have been there for DECADES!! I graduated in 96(17) and I’m 45 now….Funtastic Rides have not really upgraded their ride selection in a long time…they at one point had gotten a Huss Jump but it didn’t last long…maybe too many maintenance issues
There's no force on Earth that can make me stop calling it the Puyallup Fair. I have irrationally chosen this hill specifically to die on.
WAIT YOU WERE AT THE FAIR!?!?!?! Oh maaan it would've been super cool to meet you since I watch your channel for a little while now and I always love going on the classic coaster for the airtime. The front is always boring. Went to the fair twice in this fall fair and live streamed both of them and took my viewers on rides and had such a blast!
i’m going tomorrow honestly i’m not excited about the parking or the attraction lines because it’s the last day tomorrow soooo
but i’m still excited ;)
That wildcat was redone around 2020 that’s why it’s so much smoother than it would be
While everyone's freaking out about that one airtime moment, I can't help but feeling nostalgic for the old Tumbler that was at the Mall of America. Zamperla Nebulaz is just not the same.
The Wildcat that you rode used to be in another location of the fairgrounds. It was closed in 2019, dismantled, refurbished and rebuilt in its current location and reopened in 2021. As for your comment about having a Wild Mouse, they used to have one, named the Monster Mouse. It opened about 1990 and operated until 2010/2011 when it was removed. It was my daughter's very first coaster. My first ride on Classic Coaster was back in 2000, also a back seat ride, and yeah, it was nuts! Looks can be deceiving. 😉😁
Those old Schwarzkopf, Pinfari and SDC portable coasters are a real hole in my coastering experience--I remember seeing them all over the place when I was a kid, but I was afraid of coasters and never rode them, and now most of them are gone. The layouts were reminiscent of the old figure-8-style compact woodies (like Classic Coaster), but with more helixes.
You never riding the zipper is INSANE. best flat ride to ever be created
the educational back area of the fair was the reason we all got to go on a weekday with our schools.
I’m a local and live about five-fifteen away from the fair and had to drive past the coaster to get to the high school about three blocks away and I love it so fun and nostalgic
Fairs are like the only thing we have in terms of amusement parks in washington lol. So much nostalgia for the evergreen state fair personally.
"Names on cars, That's Very Old School" Steel Vengence:😑😶
Thanks for making a vlog on my hometown Fair and Classic Coaster
Double made me happy with this video
One FINALLY a funfair (carnival) 😊
But also two the smiler shirt on Taylor woop repping my favourite UK roller coaster 😅 keep up the great work guys 😊
first rode that one in 1979 ..was fun as hell. would love to get back there someday
3:45: FTW!!!
If you're dying doing the Puyallup you gotta ride the classic
Airtime combined with minimal restraint, how would you compare that one moment on Classic Coaster to the final stretch of Phoenix?
i love fairs and roller coasters i wish i could go
Just spent 10 hours here today from open to 8:30. People should keep in mind that rides don't open until 11:30-12. I didn't know this going in, but we rode every ride today and had a blast. We got the dizzy pass for unlimited rides and only spent $301 for tickets, admission, parking, and food. We had a blast, and my kids were happy that I pulled them out of school for a day of fun time. Always go opening on a weekday.
I Live in Tacoma just down the road and have been coming here since i was a kid. I was there a week after you guys were there, so glad you guys liked it and luckily got to do Wild Cat at the end! Fun fact, it underwent a huge Re-Furb within the last decade and now looks and feels like a completely different coaster. It really needed it, as the previous color of the track was, well.. Rust. Lol
I can't see adult thusies riding kiddie coasters anymore without hearing Ryan's "You're such a f****** heaux, I love it" song.
lateral ejector is always my favorite moment on a coaster if it has it
Dang, the fair is so popular 👀 at this point it’s like can it just become a amusement park now 😂🤷🏻♂️ anyway, omgg that airtime moment 😭🤣
Sand Storm at joyland had special restraints for certain rows. It was a really odd coaster.
9:30 So Hillarious 😂😂
Imagine that wood coaster had triangle hills it would be one of the best wood coasters
Literally "Out Of Your Seat" airtime!!!
Cedar point used to have a Schwarzkopf wildcat I have actually ridden it, but it's been gone for a long time now
I just rode this for the first time last weekend; but I live 24 mins from it and am heading there after work
They don't let you leave bags on the side either so I had to try and wedge my backpack between my legs during all of those airtime moments hahahaha
Just got back from a back row ride on the classic coaster. Airtime so violent it broke my phone case 😂
Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
Taylor brought up the Wildcat at Lake Compounce in CT. I remember the early 70’s, I rode that coaster 24 times in a row and in the rain. It was awesome. It was smooth back then. The person running the coaster didn’t even stop it and I went right through the station and up the hill. I rode the last seat just about every ride because there was no one there. I rode it 3 or four years ago and it was a disaster. They got rid of the original trains and put some goofy trains on it and it was the worst ride I ever had. I sent them an email saying if they are not going to take care of it, knock it down.
People in the back row on the wildcat pass the vibe check
Lol i rode this when i was 12 in the back row and i was legit like standing up on that drop it was so scary
Thanks for the fun.
Yo, if you guys are doing a PNW coaster trip you absolutely MUST visit Playland in Canada. They have the oldest coaster in the country and it makes the coaster you rode here look like a kiddie ride. Its simply called "Coaster" too lmao
It has Magnum XL magic seat-esque ejector airtime with barely a Buzz Bar. Its NUTS!
Lil Sebastion 😂
Fantastic change o' pace 💯
"This thing is so cute looking!"
> throws you halfway out the car
Never thought I’d ever see an American wearing Smiler merch😭
THAT AIRTIME 😂😂
Love Wildcat. Rode the one Conklin Shows had and Wade Shows Comet II.
OMG YOU MADE IT TO THE PNW I live in oregon you should show here the two parks
"this ride means business". lol. the anti rollback sounds like music
OMG i also did a haunted trail with friends in my back yard that's hilarious
Nice shoutout to the newest RMC
Why are those ancient Schwarzkopf coasters that smooth though? What was the secret sauce? I was equally surprised as I rode one at Nagashima Spa land last month.
ive done a wildcat at sandspit, its not much but when its the only big coaster near by it sure seems wild
Yay, I love the fair!!! More Fair Videos, also may we please get a video of yall making a Haunted House in the backyard Please 😍
Is that a ghost or a ghoul in the backyard?????
No, It's Warewolf Selim Basoul and he's cutting budgets.....and faces! 🥺
Imagine if the last car on this wooden coaster was backwards like on Tonnerre 2 Zeus.
The zipper is my favorite ride
The big E is our best fair in NE going on RN
Loving the smiler t-shirt you shuld come back to the uk in November december and go to hyd park winter wonderland london its amazing.
That airtime reminds me of how the airtime used to be on Cyclops before they removed a car off the train and put brakes before that third drop. It used to be truly terrifying. That was when Mount Olympus was actually fun. Also, the ride around the 12:30 mark, they used to have one of those at Mall of America that was relocated from Knotts Berry Farm. It is still one of my favorite flat rides ever. Also, how can you have not ridden a zipper before?
I’m here furrr the 👻🐝
9:31 game over
You guys should go to Burning Man next year, or Electric Forest
I lOVE LIL SEBASTIAN
Great vid. I always love them and especially appreciate getting to ride but not having to stand in those lines! Is there some kind of algorithm that measures wait time versus ride enjoyment / duration?
I rode this ride when I was 8 and with a broken wrist
Even though there isn't a credit other than the portable coasters, but the Minnesota State fair should be on your list to visit. It puts all other state fairs to shame. (Sorry Iowa or Texas... MN just does it best.)
Where’s the Tagada guys 😢
Being from Europe is weird not seeing one at a fair ❤
Sarah is a big fan I know 😂
Wow that is the longest line ever.
I got a confession too I’m terrified of carnival rides
17:14 poor bunny reminds me to Malcolm in the Middle 😂
I am clearly an awful person, because I can watch that kid fall out of the Zipper for hours.
...That sign on Classic Coaster saying that "the rails are steel" is odd--is Classic Coaster actually a hybrid, or is the sign just somewhat overstating the fact that wooden coaster rails have steel running strips on them? I suspect it's the latter, from what I can see.
I *love* a ride on a Zipper, my favorite fair attraction. That and the Star were always my go to. Star is the one like a Faris wheel with enclosed round cars you also spin. At least that's what it was called at our local fair.
Now do Coaster at PNE Playland :)
6:15, Haunted Mansion that is not.
Are you planning on going to ride primordial this season?
yes!
@@CoasterStudios that’s awesome! Make sure you get more than a couple rides. I’ve already got 8!
They only added that seatbelt a few years ago
Timberhawk is alright. First actual roller coaster since thats the closest theme park to seattle XD
Okay that twirly ride with the flames on it, there was one at mall of america, does anyone remember the name of the ride and what model type it is?
This park looks straight out of roller coaster tycoon.
are those Prior and Church "millennium flyer" like trains??
Man, if you think that is crazy, you NEED do go do Coaster at Playland in Vancouver, like Canobie Coaster discribed in his review video, this should be illegal, but in a good way
Are all of the new roller coasters announcement out for next year ??!
not all of them. We're still waiting on a couple, such as SeaWorld Orlando
Washington State Fair: "We have the best roller coaster you'll find at a fair."
European Fairs: *laughs in accents*
Kentucky State Fair Grounds: *laughs in RMC*
what was that weird flat ride called? I never saw anything like it
Hexentanz (Witches' Dance), manufactured by Zierer. The Washington State Fair version is the last one still operating in the US.
Why are American Fairs so janky 😂 !? The woodie looks awesome tho but it’s a massive shame it’s only open for the 2 fairs a year, what a waste
I have never understood the parks that put a max limit on a roller coaster. I can't think of a single actually good reason as to why they do things like this. There is an exception for roller coasters like Pantheon and DarKoaster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg where if you're too tall you can literally strike a support beam and/or another track. THAT is completely understandable and respectable but a max limit on a wacky worm? Really?
PNE next?
not on this trip....another time!
I rode that same WIldcat at Riverside Park Agawam Mass (6 flags now), back in the sixty's early 70's. The stop at the end was wicket. A real scary one was this one at Quassy (CT). This one was brutal in so many ways - ruclips.net/video/pl9jh7JgwPM/видео.html
