Scary rotor wash at about 5:00! Thank you Mr. Weeks for saving aviation history for future generations.
Absolutely phenomenal footage....this was before drones! A real camera in a real helicopter. Love the choice of music too.
Superb images. Very nice soundtrack (Richard Wagner). Fantastic airplane. Thanks for sharing all of that with us!!!
One of the most interesting light aircraft ever.
The air to air footage is gorgeous for any kind of airplane. They are at their natural environment.
I was refuelling at some central Florida airfield back in the 90's when Mr. Weeks landed this aircraft using about 15 feet of runway. It was stunning. I've loved it ever since.
Excellent film footage and soundtrack.
phenomenal pro footage
Thanks Kermit for some great footage. "Ride of the Valkyries" - great choice.
My jaw dropped along with those oleos when you broke ground. Talk about travel length! Thanks for another great vid, and glad you and yours survived the storm.Bruce
Music is PERFECT for this video!! AMAZING flying skills there Kermit at 4:52 👍🏼😃👍🏼 I LOVE that plane!!!
Perfect synchronization between music and touch down on landing.
My father (Italian but obliged to serve in the German flak) told me that with a bow wind around 40 km / h could have remained in the still air like a helicopter, seeing how much it can fly slowly I can hardly believe it!
Superb footage...and superb flying! Great stuff!
Great flight. What a sight; the Flight of the Storch-ries . It IS good to be you Kermit.
Beautiful photography and the Storch was in its element.
What a neat aeroplane; love the way you fly it, Kermit; and the telescopic struts (they're cool!)
That's a really good video. The camera is so stable and smooth. And the Storch is great too. I saw two of them at an air show hanging over the airfield.
Very appropriate and excellent flying footage: "The Ride of the Valkyries" embedded on a slow, majestic Storch flight.
You hit it out of the ballpark with this fantastic video.
Kermit more videos like this. I love air to air footage.
Really enjoyed watching the landing gear do its thing! A little prop noise thrown-in here-and-there might have actually been nice. Anyhow, we got enough to go around - along with smoke - in the other videos. Thank’s again for sharing!
I Love this airplane!
That was so cool. Thanks for the videos. This looked like FILM and not video. Great stuff.
God Bless to all.
amazing low air speed ! beautiful pictures !
Ditto what all the other have commented, that is one cool aircraft, and easy on fuel- lol. thanks for sharing this vid :-)
Looked like a video game when taking off . Pretty cool.
Amazing footage
This was fantastic!! :)
How cool is that!!!
What a great design the Storch is. Can hardly believe the same role was performed by the Lysander for the allies. Those things are huge compared!
Well, the Fi-156 was used somewhat like a Helicopter, whereas the Lysander was more of a high Speed Commuter with good Short Field Performance.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the L-4 Grasshopper serve this purpose? As far as I remember, it's pretty much an L-3 Cub, but with some military stuff, which I have no idea what is. So it should have pretty good STOL capabilities, right?
TheShiphoo i don’t think I’d want to be dropping off ‘civilians’ I’m occupied France in an L4... but you have a good point.
What a lovely plane. I've read during WW2 the Allies coveted capturing these if they could for their own use. I know Rommel loved going up in these for firsthand reconnaissance. I wonder if he ever actually learned to pilot one for himself as it's a very easy and forgiving plane to fly.
Best video of 2017.
Hard to beat the German designs.
That was fantastic!
Love this airplane!
Nice footage Kermie
My #1 favorite airplane -awesome!
What graceful aircraft, wish I was up there with you.
What version of flight simulator is this? Looks great.
Such a cool little plane.
Excellent.
The design of this plane has always fascinated me. They called it a Stork (the bird) but it looks more like a dragonfly to me.
Not "the bird" but STORCH = Stork. Because of its long landing gear assembling the long legs of a storch. Also in a strong headwind it can nearly hover like a storch.
FANTASTIC AIRPLANE
Awesome! Like this plane ^_^
Awesome plane!
Thanks Seven. Keep watching!
En HUESCA (.España) había Storch para remolcarnos en Vuelo sin Motor.
Formidable avion!
Well done bravo bravo..
Love it, give about anything to fly in it
I love it!!!
Richtig zeebra
Ah auch hier :D
Great low speed flyer.
It's a beautiful!!!
STOL to the extreme. What did that landing take, all of 50-60 feet?
Exelente
How much is a refab kit for this type of plane these days new? I heard you can still buy these planes, reproduced as kits or pre-built.
Man that takeoff speed, it could literally take off from my garage roof
We Germans built the slowest (Storch) and fastest aircraft (Messerschmitt 262, Dornier 335) in WWII.
@@dr.wilfriedhitzler1885 As a 72-year-old Dutchman, I was born 5 years after the 2nd World War, but since the late 1950s I have had a great interest in historical aircraft, especially until now, the last 5 years I was able to fly with the then Dutch Catalina PBY .. .unfortunately we had to sell it to the Americans because the costs were no longer affordable.
The only plane I would like to fly in the last years that I am still alive (I hope to be 90, but....!?) is an Original Storch (so with a V8 engine), of course for a fee...but I don't know if there is still a sightseeing flight somewhere near our eastern neighbours, perhaps you know this?
And mister Kermit, we called your landing at the end 50 years ago : "Like an egg" (you hit the ground so gently) and the flight itself with Wagner in the background stopped exactly when the wheels touched the ground... the flight itself was of a beauty, stately ect.👏
@@BXgek I am sure you will become 90 years old in best health! The Hangar 10 in Usedom, Germany has a Storch too and they fly several times a year. They make sightseeing flyghts.
@@dr.wilfriedhitzler1885 I hope so, thanks for the information!
@@BXgek You can fly there a Messerschmitt Bf 109 two-seater too. Take some Whisky before flight.
Your a lucky man Mr Weeks
amazed! how slow that can fly?
Kermit needs to get another hangar going.
The aircraft that rescued Il Duce..
Life is Real good! :)
What's it filmed from - a helicopter or something? This is amazing footage, I've read about these and had an Airfix model of one as a kids - that's what got me reading about them, amazing plane and this footage does the plane justice. Those Germans clever blokes.
Yes. Filmed from a production helicopter's camera.
@@KermitWeeks444 Doh! Just watched it again and the clue was in the title and the footage of the helicopter at the start! I remember reading one account that mentioned that the plane could land in your backyard almost, the landing in this footage pretty much confirms that! What were they made of... Balsa wood or something?
My dream is someday to own a storch or at least fly one.
looks CG
How many Storchs are existing in the world?
"Kill the Wabbit" is not my favorite song, but the video was just great. Sincerely, Bugs Bunny.
Can take off with less than 150 feet of grass runway and land with less than 50.
"Ride of the Valkyries" Sacrilege, everyone knows this soundtrack is reserved for helicopter videos......
Technically, it is a helicopter video ;-)
What airport is this? It's very unusual to see a Super Connie these days. Anyone know how long the Connie has been there and/or the story behind it?
This is at Fantasy of Flight, Kermit Weeks aviation attraction and facility in Central Florida. You can learn more about both at kermitweeks.com.
The link below will take you to a video on the Connie that explains where it came from and how it arrived at Fantasy of Flight.

Thank you for the information. Next time I'm in Florida, I'll have to visit. That Connie brings back memories of my childhood. BTW, I love this vid and your Fieseler Storch! Magnificent aircraft. I bet it's fun to fly. Cheers!
At 4.52 a little buffeting due to helicopter... I think the hely pilot hasn’t done a right maneuver in front of Kermie...
great reaction time from kermit
Maybe not. I don't see gust on a grass. I think low speed.
That was due to being right there at Stall speed. The chopper was a lot further out that it appears in the video. 👍🏼
I had to hit pause and change my pants.
piikkiniska Mexican Food?
Круто!!! ))
The last plane out of berlin nazi.
The last plane shot by allies in western front.
The plane saved mussolini.
Would-be Storch-drivers, beware.
1. Wind-gradient on (small) embedded field in woods: when you fly very slow the impact of the windgradient is huge. Speeds drops dramatically and even a Storch needs speed to flare.
2. Wenn you fly slow in a firm headwind (and low) and make a speedy U-turn the speed drops dramatically: the airframe has to make (increase) speed for 2 times the wind speed at the time the turn is completed.
3. The Storch is not small, or light, nor simple in structure. It can carry 3 persons. It uses a 240 Hp Argus engine and drinks a Bierkrug (1 ltr) a minute on f.p.
Like the flight but dislike the soundtrack, prefer the enginesound.
The Storch is perhaps the most significant WW2 airplane I've lusted to fly ! Had one at the airport I used to hang around - yeah I was another airport bum - for a couple of years but could never convince its owner to let me get some time in the old girl. Then one day she disappeared - perhaps to your joint ?
The music is so un-fitting :D
I don't think the Swastika would be allowed here. And such "unpredictable" flights would also be a bureaucratic problem. Too many airplanes an so little unrestricted airspace here in the Netherlands.
So sad that there are such restrictions.
The swastika is up to the aircraft owner, as it should be.
That said, there are very legitimate reasons why the swastika can and does upset people and I respect the fact that there is legitimate trauma they or their families suffered under it to consider, and I respect that there are multiple governments in Europe which have banned its display except in some well defined circumstances.
Personally, a swastika on a german warbird doesn't bother me but that's just me.
What ridiculous is you can't watch a video of a german warbird from that era without some pseudo "historian" in full outrage mode losing their collective shit because the aircraft might NOT have a swastika on it, crying about "history" like the Library of Alexandria had just been burnt down, and if the german warbird DOES have a swastika, the same self-righteous chowderheads start crying because there are other german warbirds (like in Germany) which aren't painted with one.
Here's the deal - if someone thinks it's unacceptable or "sad" or "unhistorical" because a German warbird might not have a swastika then they are free to buy, build, or restore their own aircraft and paint it how they want (within govt guidelines and restrictions) or, failing that, since they are so keen to express their knowledge of "history" so well in terms of period decoration in the Luftwaffe circa 1933-45, then they should just use their imagination and PRETEND it's there.
When all is said and done, the important thing is to appreciate the aircraft, not cosmetics.
Don't fly that thing over my 94 year old Grandpa's house unless you want him to start shooting at you with his 1903 Springfield! Cool videos!
Low and slow. No wonder the Germans put all their effort into building these aircraft. If my memory serves me correctly they only built 200 or so helicopters but thousands of these aircraft. They could almost takeoff straight up in a light breeze.
Plastic fantastic Virtual Reality
silly music !!!
Isn't it dangerous for an old girl like that to be running around with bare legs?
Wagner and a nazi plane...perfect. 🤷🏼♂️
