  • Today we took a look at the new 36V Cordless Cut-Off Saw by Makita. We're slowly transitioning all of our power tools over to electric so this is a tool we definitely needed to check out. Compared to the older model we have in the shop this new and updated cordless model will be a welcome addition! As always, if you have any thoughts or questions please let us know in the comments!

This seems very well thought out, so many useful updates compared to older models from many brands i've used...now hopefully it cut as fast or similar to corded versions however all the other features and the fact its cordless will save a lot of time anyways! My 15 amps dewalt kept tripping breakers all day long so much lost time i was using my scale saw with a metal cutting blade instead!

Well it’s so the battery can be used in a impact or drill as well. Where as other companies make a bigger batt that can’t be used with their whole line of tools

I wonder if this suffices as a serviceable concrete saw for cutting interlock and bricks?

No, I wouldn’t think so. We have a video of a battery powered dewalt 9” partner saw that has worked for us for that application.

Just used mine today for the first time and it was not fun.. it would cut 20g studs but you definitely had to slow it down or it would cut off. A bundle took a bit too long. I was using 4.0 batteries, tomorrow I will be using brand new 5.0 and hope that helps

Any update on how this performs ? I’d be cutting up to 1/4” angle iron, flats and the occasional 2x4 I beam or boxed section .

lol true, you do save time holding it with your feet or hands instead...plus in canada we are usually piecework..so time is money! But I'm sure the clamps work well if you don't mind taking the extra time securing the material...

Actually people who cut pipes use it. But yeah for metal stud framing it gets in the way alot
