I put washi tape on top of the pencils with low light-fast ratings such as those contained in coloursoft. Then I always know which are good to use on art and which are for sketchbooks only.
You're welcome, my pencil swatches are always done in inexpensive paper. If it didn't go through a printer it's just from old thin sketchbook paper and if it's printed on it's just printer paper (but I try and get half decent printer paper that looks white enough). So nothing fancy for pencil swatches. Some people will prefer to use the paper that they will make art on so that the swatches is scientifically identically to how it will look, but the difference has never been enough for me to worry about that. The only exception is the water color pencils which I swatch on a page of mixed media paper because of the water and at the moment I am using a Canson XL mixed media pad. Thanks for stopping by 😀
Great video! Where did u get that case that u have ur brutfuners in? I have just got the 52opk of bruts in the flower boxes and i wanted to get them properly organised. Thanks
Thank you - for basic color swatching I'm not that fussy so I just have been using up whatever old sketch book papers I have lying around, for the printed versions it's just the printer paper. My reason being is that although the colors will look different to a professional on different paper, the colors should still appear relative to each other. So if I like the look of a 3 color blend on my cheaper paper, then I know that will look right on my final piece. When it comes to coloring I'm coloring directly into a coloring book, or if it's my own art work it will be on something fancy like a stonehenge or strathmore paper. I also used a "colored pencil" pad from Spectrum Noir :)
@@WhatBeckyDidLastNightOfficial Thank you for your information ...I am going to get Strathmore. as it fits my budget. I like to print off coloring pages ,as books are not equal ....thank you again for all your help ,Happy coloring
Thank you - I have since bought a set that came up on offer and posted a video about my experience.... the short version is that I understand why people like them but I think they are ruining their reputation with quality issues at the price point now. (Mixed reviews were received on that video lol!)
I almost have the exact same collection of pencils & I don’t like prismacolors,,,,, that said prismacolors where the first set of pencils I purchased many years ago before all the problems, but I don’t like the waxy bloom they create, thought it was me & almost gave up using pencils, because of them, I just don’t understand the love of them…. Colorsoft is so much better for sure. The Faber castell are my favorites, I have the inktense not too crazy about them, Albert Dürer so much better. Inktense has a haze to them, might be me?
Hi - the ones which hold 3 pencils per loop are on Amazon: amzn.to/44EHfqd and the smaller quantity ones I found on AliExpress a while back before I stopped shopping there :)
I always get a good laugh when someone says 'they're soft, they're wax based'. Try the primarily wax-based Derwent Artists. The hardest pencils I've ever come across 😅.
I am obsessed with Derwent Lightfast: those earthy tones are life
They are sooooo good and play so nicely with the luminance 😻
@@WhatBeckyDidLastNightOfficial I know. I am working on a piece. And those 2 work amazingly. Wish you could see it
What a huge collection of great pencils, those are amazing!
Thank you... it was either going to be pencils or a social life, and I needed way more color than drama lol!
I have 100 Crayola's,50 Sargent Art, 24 Blick, 12 Faber Castell and Prismacolor. I like cheap but good pencils.

That's a great tip thank you! I'm loving the coloursofts!
Great review. Thank you. Would you mind sharing which paper you are using to swatch your pencils? or printing PDF’s?

I love my derwent coloursoft!
Thank you for sharing! Derwent is doing me so well right now with their ranges!
What a nice collection you have!
Thank you!
I love my inktense. I also like their graphitint pencils pretty muted colors.
Looove the graphitint too! I'm hoping to upload my latest pencil collecting video today 🙏 😉
@@WhatBeckyDidLastNightOfficial I'll be on the look out for it.

You should try a few Prismacolor purchased open stock. They are really very nice pencils. I’ve bought a few sets and never had a problem.

If the lightfast but is the issue, then you should use the oil paints?!?!
Thank you - I think oil paints would be a very different medium to master for me :)
My prisma colors don’t break once I got a good pencil sharpener. However, you go through them so fast! That is my only gripe.
I have a huge pencil, that should be a large colection have sets over 20 years old love collecting them sometimes I even use them.

We have very similar tastes in pencil :)
Hi, do you happen to know what case you have? I’ve never seen one that folds out like that. I do have individual slot cases but none like that!
