I rode in that on a few fridays in 1993 on the left hand side....i think once on saturday my dad in the fold seat, engineer AL and i was the volunteer conductor....oh boy! Never forget those days i was still a highschooler and the next year i would be hired at CC after i got my diploma
While I think the lightning bolt paint looks ugly on the PH-3s and PHM-2s,It’s nice to know they’re getting updated so they don’t catch on fire as much.
@@mateostrainsexplorationsan3706 Cool. I also look forward to whenever metro decides to make more heritage units. I mentioned to them that maybe they should wrap the highliner 2's in Illinois central colors. That would be fun
Metra doesn’t want to get rid of their F40s. Tryna make ‘em last for eternity 😅
That’s good, keeping the history of this locomotive even if the original owner reduced them to cabbages
The unrebuilt F40s are being retired.
With the proper care and refurbishment, Engines like these can run for maybe Forever!
1970s EMD Diesel locomotives just don't wanna die, by this point they're straght up inmortal
As long as it dosnt use DEF that motor block while last 30 years ....
Metra removed “City of Joliet” name on 101 while it’s repainted into a lightning bolt paint scheme.

I saw that at blue island
Just watch it go on the UP lines.
Just like MBTA commuter rail
damn you predicted it
Will 100 become a rta heritage unit that be permanently?
Did ask about that and all I was told was 100 with be in RTA colors. Last time they wrapped it so I'm sure it would be painted
@@TWIGYBNSF oh ok because I want to see a RTA heritage unit so the heritage unit collection is complete

@@TWIGYBNSF they could purchase a AEM-7 and turn that into a IC heritage unit
There’s an SD70MACH now serving as the RTA heritage unit.
I bet Metra212Productions will comment on this video
I guess Metra is removing the names off engines as they get repainted
Actually units that were had kept them
Why did Metra remove the names on all F40PH-3s?
Damn, Carbody locomotives look like a ship's engine room. Makes me think I would get frustrated working on a hood unit with all the doors in the way
