I really appreciate all the small business owners that show that it isn’t easy! I just started my small business after years of wanting to use my creative talents to profit. At one point I’d bought a lot of supplies to start a sticker business then chickened out. I finally mustered all my courage to start my crochet business and so far I’ve just had three orders. I’ve got my first market this Friday and was planning on spending my whole day yesterday prepping. But life happens and someone smashed my husbands car window and stole his camera bag and my church bag yesterday throwing off my whole day. I found myself thinking why am I doing this. When I watch these videos it reminds me that everyone has their ups and downs but it isn’t forever. Things will turn around and you just have to keep going. So chin up girl! You’ve got this 🥰
Thank you for your kind words of encouragement! I'm so sorry about that happening to you thats legit life coming at you hard! It's 100% not easy and thats why I try to tell it how it is even though it feels scary and vulnerable to admit when things don't go well or things fail. I failed a LOT in the first 2 years and constantly asked myself why am I doing this so you're totally valid in feeling that! I hope you keep at it and things start to pick up for you soon!
I really appreciate you for being honest and showing the not so glamorous side of a small business. Last year I did so many markets and I had a few that flopped. I was so heartbroken and I get your frustration.
The flops make it SO hard to not feel awful lol like even though I had SO many good ones this year those few bad ones hurt a lot. Its not glamorous and we all have those moments so I'm glad it resonated with you too thats why I try to be super honest so people don't feel alone in how hard this is at times.
Hey don't lose hope. I had a few last year that barely made $50 but then we had one that was well over $1300. You just never know. It is a lot of fun doing markets, but just like big box retail, you are not always going to have a great day. Still early in the season. Just have fun making memories.
I just wanted to say thank you for being vulnerable and allowing others the insight of a small business and how it affects you as a person. I know you may feel down right now, but I believe there's always a silver lining. Keep heading toward your rainbow after the rain 😊 P.S. You don't have to apologize for being human.
Don't be upset dear. At least you have tried and know which ones work and which one doesn't work. The important thing i you have your health. Things have happened in my life that has made me aware that health of yourself and loved ones is the most important thing xx
Thank you so much for this kind comment! I'm taking time off this month from markets to recoup and focus on my website and channel to hopefully help with the market stress a bit.
Girl you are so real and I am so proud of you! You're putting yourself out there and doing the thing!! I know you didn't have the sales you wanted this weekend but the impact is there, this is my biggest fear about starting my business and watching you move through it with grace is altering my brain chemistry and helping me gain confidence!!! Just know there's a 26 y/o girl in Canada watching you saying to her self "wow this chick is so creative, strong and capable!" lol & that girl is me!! Thank you for sharing your energy with us, you are truly inspiring! XOXO
Stop this is so sweet thank you so much for this comment! I hope you can work through that fear and make that small business dream happen! Start small and don't be afraid to fail. I failed a lot starting out and still have fails now. It's all about mindset and learning to move past the bad. Its not easy at all BUT I think its worth it. Also getting to see that this has helped you means so so much
Currently sitting here in the third hour of my first flop event. I have two more days to go, but so far have only made one sale and things are not looking good! I had a feeling my products might be a little too niche for the event but I talked myself into going and, yeah… so it’s nice to know I’m not alone!
Oh noooo! I'm so sorry you had to experience this too. Especially when its a multi-day event. I keep trying to tell myself when markets don't go amazing is that you don't know until you try. And now you know its not the event for you but STILL it sucks so much. I will say I did just have my best ever event so its just learning to try and not let the bad events stop you from continuing to grow. Hope your next event goes amazing and you're 100% not alone.
Oh, girl, I'm sorry I've totally been there. I went to a show over 3 hours away and sold zip....it was long and hot and no money it was utterly horrible. You cry if you need to. My package from you should be here on Monday, I'm so excited and happy to support you. I hope your next show is so much better.
Do you have markets in your area that always do well? I did a lot of markets one year (probably 25 different markets) and most of them were not good, but two monthly markets I found always did great. Now I only do those two markets. So two markets a month.
I just experienced this yesterday. The same place 2 weeks ago I made sales but yesterday it was a bust. Sometimes thats how it goes. But plus is I wore my new shirt I ordered from you and I told them about your website/RUclips. Also I agree with another comment about getting your products into stores. I do that and it has been great. Keep up the awesome work, & Daisy is giving Lavendar kisses 💋
I’ve had one of those markets too 😢 So deflating but at least you tried! Hopefully after doing all these different markets you’ll have a good list of all the successful ones to revisit. You’re a wonderful human and make the most prettiest items 💜 Looking forward to international shipping 😉 xx
Have you considered getting some of your products into local businesses? For instance the coffee shop you walk to or a local boutique or a bookstore. I watch some RUclipsrs who have done that in addition to having online shops.
Yass! This is a big goal for me this year too! I actually went into a few places recently to ask and got some contacts so hopefully this will be on the horizon.
I love watching your videos and I love your honesty. Working a business is hard and what I see here you are doing an amazing job. I look up to you and hopefully one day when I grow up I can be just like you and make my business a success story.
Girl my last market I made $10. That’s it. Not even close to getting booth fee back. And I got heat stroke. I came home and wanted to cry so bad and couldn’t even do that. I’m sorry you’re having such a rough time with this.
So sorry I had one of those markets in february still paying it off there were lots of people but nobody was buying they were just there for the music. The vender fee was $450
So sorry, I had the same experience in Texas, I have to travel 3-4 hours to sell and its exhausting. The last 2 markets I had I barely broke even. My online shop gets views no sales, I am considering closing it. I have been trying to find FT position. Hang in there at least your getting online sales which is a good thing. Stop apologizing its okay to not have a good day.
Hey, I'm not sure if you've been asked this before, but why did you stop doing photography? I'm asking because have you thought about getting back into it under Palm Creatives or even helping small businesses by taking product photos and maybe taking on a few clients here and there to help supplement your income?
We have all had those kind of shows. It sucks to put in all the work. I think your prices were good. It didn’t look like the traffic was there. Don’t give up. Hang in there.
I just did my very first market , it never rains here in august here.. and it rained.. i only made the market fee.. really makes you want to rethink your life choices.. i took a day off work to do this market so i would have made more money just going to work.. i did better than the people beside me but it was not what i expected
Keep going! You’ve got this ❤

It's okay to have a good cry. At least you got to check a new place off your travel repertoire. Keep pushing.

I feel this! My last two events have been a flop as well and it’s really discouraging.

Thank you so much! I defiantly believe in a good cry to move through stuff! This last market was insane and so so good I can't wait to share it here

Hi beautiful awesome work💗💗💜💛💝💝💗💞♥💓😍😍💗💖💝❤❤
That’s all small businesses lately and markets.. they charge so much and don’t fulfill their end of marketing it for some of them.
