After almost 2 years on my to buy list, I finally ordered one today. I know I will enjoy it.
I've had this knife for almost a year. I love it. It's my favorite big folder because the action is so smooth. It doesn't Spydie flick because it's not a Spydie hole, it's just a thumb hole. I would never even think to open this knife like that. The flipper works so well and even using the XR lock to open it is extremely easy. I can pull down the XR lock and the blade just drops and swings freely without any blade play, better than the 5 Benchmades that I have. Handle has 100% jimping coverage but I don't mind at all. It's a bad-ass for sure. It'll hold up to anything and I know I won't be dropping it. Even bought it from WMN using your code.

It does spydie flick , the detent just has to break in. When it's broke in , it's easier to spydie flick than my Yojimbo. I've had mine about a year but I fidget flick mine all the time.
It's like... I like it, but for the same price I can get so much other cool stuff... but I hope SOG can keep going this way.
For almost $200, it definitely needs g10. I only own one sog, the tomcat 3.0, have had it for years and it's a great, solid knife. Only problem is it doesn't have a pocket clip.

Agree with your thoughts on this one. If it had G10 or micarta scales I would be tempted to pick one up. I'm not paying premium dollars for budget material (FRN scales.) Would be great if they came out with a Lite/Scout version for 80 bucks - basically this same knife, but with Aus10A or D2 steel. I'm not a big fan of so-called "premium" steel. Not that I don't like it, but I really don't need it and I prefer not to spend so much for something I don't need.
That's a sexy knife. You're right. With g-10, cuz those scales look rough. And tone down the tactical look. That would be nice
Great review. Cool knife. The combination of coating and the weight compared to the blade lenght were the only 2 things that did prevent me from buying this.

The weight kills it for me as an EDC. 5 ounce is my max. If I was going to East St. Louis, then it looks like a great choice.
300% agree...if this was offered with a satin blade and g10 scales I'd snag it in a second. As it currently sits no deal

The Kiku XR is far an away better than the Seal, I sold my Seal. Will keep the Kiku for life...LOVE it!

Once the detent breaks in you can spydie flick this knife with ease. The handle is not FRN , the handle is GRN. S.O.G. chose GRN because G10 can't be manufactured with all the intregat lines & complicated texture patters like molded GRN can. GRN lasts longer than G10 too in my opinion.

6 oz would be livable. Otherwise it looks very well done for its genre.
Best thing? Not even close. It's not selling they just reduced the price to 139.00 as of today on Blade HQ. Its overpriced, overweight and no real good application for this knife
THE CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR SOG IS NONEXISTENT. SPENT OVER 7 HOURS OVER SEVERAL DAYS LAST WEEK HOPING TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE REGARDING MY AEGIS; NO RESPONSE TO THE EMAILS I SENT THEM. APPARENTLY GREAT PRODUCTS BUT NO SERVICE. BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE
Good blade, good lock, good aestetics, not so good handle material, awful pocket clip, overpriced, hard pass for me.
this knife has been out forever. just because they can do a good knife doesn't mean that's their new direction
