I went to Berkeley and still am active with the campus. DeSantis is right of course. The Liberal Arts and Humanities were largely classical and traditional areas of studies, but sometime around the late 90s, a shift occur where LGBT-Queer, African American, Latinx, Asian American studies etc, became the dominant courses to fulfill breadth requirements. The angrier and more indignant you got in your writing, the higher the grades. People who majored in these couldn't find decent jobs, until San Francisco started to fund non-profit groups under inclusion and diversity measures and now everytime we have a time hall meeting about funding, staff from these groups completely monopolize the call-in/sit-in and demand more funding- while, of course, they solve nothing whatsoever. Actually, the city's in the worse state it's ever been - and the lib. news media doesn't covered a fraction of the corruption in city government because it makes them look bad..
We already know about traditional classical studies and the Roman Empire. I want to learn about new things

Get a down payment for funding by eliminating the Department of Education - except for voucher administration - purge the pox.

As a soon to be former Democrat, I really like Gov. DeSantis and what he is doing with the education system in Florida. I will support him if he runs for President. He will be the first Republican I will have ever voted for in my life because the Dems took my vote for granted and left me when the party was taken hostage by crazy left wing nuts.

Take a look at schools and colleges in Colorado as an example and you'll see why Florida is ranked #1. The bar has moved down quite a bit.
No critical race theory in Florida local schools. No men competing with woman because they feel bad about themselves. No men going into female bathrooms. No drag shows with kids allowed in Florida. Sounds like a place id like to live.

There are nine UC campuses, and they all have their very own "diversity Chancellors," and diversity dept with upwards of 50 academic bureaucrats.
It used to be that schools all over the US took the California Achievement test every year to measure students progress compared to the top schools in the country. But that was before the Democrats took over. Here's what their approach has been:

Nah. Calif rolled back property taxes long ago and there was less funding for things like public education, libraries, mental health. I attended UC Berkeley in the 1970s when tuition was still ridiculously cheap. Plus, the UC system claims that it had to raise tuition to attract and retain world-class professors and expand campuses etc.

I knew someone who had owned her beach cottage in Encinitas outright for DECADES, and with constant re-assessments her taxes were double what her mortgage payments had been. She had to tear down her beautiful place and put two duplexes on the lot, renting out 3 of the units. Schools in CA have PLENTY of money, and their insane woke teachers are among the highest paid. Don't believe the union's lying propaganda.
The universities have turned themselves into big business, and they are addicted to their grant dollars now. And the quality of faculty they hire these days is a disgrace.

As someone who’s attended, let me tell you one of the largest Republican clubs in collegiate America is at UC Berkeley and, most of its participants are the business majors. The campus itself is actually fairly conservative in most cases that you don’t see make the news. It’s a good balance but the people who run the city of Berkeley are insanely liberal.

I’m not sure how to feel about this - The idea of banning a section of the university education seems like a dangerous path. I strongly oppose most DEI practices & gender studies but this seems very strange.
