I own this very rifle. It's awesome and hasnt malfunctioned once in over 1000 rds. The tool kit that comes with it is made to break the gun down. Theres notches in the tool capsule that can be used to turn the lever for the gas tube. I've been really happy with mine.
I saw an arsenal 101 at my gun store. Even though it's an older model it was so slick. The action racks back like a knife slicing through butter:). The butt stock just feels small but I could get used to it. Someday I'll get one to accompany my other Ak.
Great video like always brother! That was actually the first ak i bought last year. If you ever want to get into 5.45 you should pick up a 104 fr. That is another bad ass rifle. Your ak collection just keeps getting sweeter and sweeter.
It ships to America in a “sporting” configuration with smaller mag for hunting.. then converted by arsenal. That’s why. They could have thrown in a 30 rounder for sure... but there is a reason behind the small mag. Mine came with a 5 rnd mag. It’s useful for sighting in and for hunting.. this is one hell of a brush gun
drtrolish That's what forward rails are for! I prefer them anyway. That said, it is kinda pointless to have the optic mount where the stock folds in the first place then, but at least it's an option if you feel like switching it up and give up folding.
bbroogs The Russians included an optic rail on the side because they use it. The Russian soldier is not supposed to fold the stock while deployed. They only fold the stock for transport to and from the battle field. The rest of the time it remains open with an optic mounted. There's plenty of factory and aftermarket left side folding stocks if you want folding and an optic. You don't have the live with all the crappy ergonomics on AK rifles, only most of them.
Picked up my SLR107FR 2 weeks ago, was also debating on what stock to get but went with the triagle folding stock. Kinda weird that your bolt sticks like that, mine doesnt do it. Fired 140 rounds and its a sweet shooter. I never had Arsenal SGL Russian rifle but these Bulgarian seem to come with a more durable reciever finish.
Sweet, my friend just bought this exact model as his first rifle. The US made parts are the furniture (3 parts), fire control group (3 parts), the Front sight base/ bayonet lug, and the gas block/accessory lug. They have 7 foreign made 922 parts allowing you to use a foreign mag without going over the magic 10 parts list, not that the 922(R) police will ever check it out!
Front sight bases and gas blocks are not on the list of 922r compliance parts. A stamped receiver AK with a muzzle device and magazine inserted has a total of 16 compliance parts. I have the same rifle and the owner's manual lists 6 U.S. made compliance parts: 3 for fire control parts and 3 for furniture. However, when I inspected my rifle, I noticed the muzzle brake was also marked "U.S.", so I firmly believe my rifle has 7 U.S. made compliance parts. This means this rifle, even with a foreign made magazine inserted, has 9 foreign made parts. True that it's unlikely you will be prosecuted for 922r noncompliance, but what if you use your firearm in self-defense? We all know for far lawyers will go to make a quick buck!
Beautiful rifle.... Actually just bought a SLR107-36 from K-Var. for all that money though it sucks that the action gets stuck back and the trigger sucks. I bought a CAI RAS47 and that rifle rocks!!! Awesome trigger and smooth action....
+Joey P DAMN! I JUST bought a SLR107-36 from K-Var :( Haven't even received it yet. Should I have the gunsmith at the gun store the rifle is being shipped to check it out on their range?
My first Arsenal SLR-107FR had a REALLY bad front site. It was canted to the left really badly. I returned the rifle and the distributer send me another one the next day. I have issues taking the bolt assembly out of the new rifle and the front sites do not seem to be well centered. Although the front sites are not nearly as bad as the previous rifle. I may need to send my rifle to Arsenal, which is VERY frustrating.
Can you buy a triangle folder for it like you said and just swap them out easy? Or do you have to do anything complicated to put the triangle folder on? When I buy mine it would be cool to have both stocks to use on it
they're 1,300 online right now. i might pull the trigger, JUST SO I CAN FINALLY GET MY HANDS AN A FUCKING KING ARSENAL AK47! my life really isn't complete without one.
I bought mine 5 days ago. I can tell you that there are zero out there now. The Arsenal guy said that there would be a shortage do to demands around the world. My gun store didn't know the back story and said they found a couple out there. Their buyer told the sales dude that it's the last one that he could find out there as of February 2016. If you find one, and you want one, pull the trigger fast.
My only issue with this gun is that Arsenal cuts down the cleaning rod so that it will fit and this process has made mine now just for looks. A small complaint I know, but other than that I have no complainants. Great Video!
You must have gotten a bad apple with that trigger. My SAM7R-61 with the milled receiver came stock with a quality, light, and smooth trigger. Nonetheless, great rifle, and great video.
Nice rifle. I have the same one. I had to push the sight to the left and down to zero it 100. What is the distance you should zero it at the zero marking on the sight?
chad bailey take too cover off, fold the stock and leave it half way between closed and fixed, like make your rifle into an "L" shape. Get a punch and a mallet and drive the pin in the hinge from bottom to top. The pin will only come out the top, will not come out the bottom so don't pound it the wrong direction. There you go, stock is off. Just realign the holes and drive the pin back through to put it back on
+BEARwidme probably referring to the lock catch for the side folding stock... if it looks like a little hook right behind the lower handguard on the left side, that would be it.
Great video, I ordered my SLR-107 a few days ago since I heard they're stopping the importation of them for the time being. I am a little paranoid about having a canted front sight though.
+Charles Jacques I was going to get the triangle stock initially, but people talked me out of it. Most recommended buying the poly and then upgrading to the triangle folder.
+intoweapons The plastic folding buttstock rifles come with chrome lined (original) 74 style FH/brakes. The triangle folders have US made 74 style FH/brakes. If you slap a Russian triangle folder on it, you technically might no longer be in compliance with 922r.
Has your SLR'S bolt carrier loosened up? Mine's brand new and having the same thing. Didn't even do it at first, but after playing with it for 2 weeks and not being able to go shoot it, it starts locking back.
I noticed the button sticks out on the back of the stock when it is extended, is that uncomfortable or annoying in any way? Besides that nice review and solid rifle.
Just ordered this ak from k-var today, my first ak47. Little worried about the action now after watching your video. Did it work out by using it or did you have to do something else to get it worked out?
Got mine from Prepper too, great customer service! I've souped it up big time, and made a lot of personal modifications from an already great rifle it into a real smoking hotrod. Also I received a US Arsenal made (AK-74 style) muzzle device. I'm going to take some pointers from IntoWeapons and add some radioactive sights! :D
IntoWeapons kvar just released about 20 of these (old stock from 2015) and i snagged one. It was delivered Monday but they had switched out the muzzle device with one of their non Chrome Lined USA Made ones. I looked in the manual, at the list of foreign parts, and sure enough, the muzzle brake was whited out....crooks.
@@intoweapons i just bout another NOS 107fr and it had a 2013 date of manufacture so back then they weren’t screwing the customer by taking the chrome lined off and replace it with USA made junk. I just bought another Bulgarian FCG to replace the Arsenal USA trigger group.

not much difference, besides the sam7sf has an ambi safety, if I am not mistaken. there might be one or two other small variations, but the rifles are very close. at the time of purchase, the sam7sf wasn't available, but not sure my choice would be different today as I prefer the original akm design. thanks for watching!
@intoweapons where can you buy the metal triangle stock? Ill most likely purchase mine with the original poly stock, but i want to replace it in time. TIA!

Nice review. I know this is crazy and I know that AK's are tinker toys. Yesterday when I picked up my SLR107 the salesman told me to only run brass ammo in the nice Arsenal. I believed, I guess what he was saying, but now that I think about it.. Wolf, Steel Cased ammo, and others are "made in Russia". Question do the Comm Bloc countries run Steel Cased 7.62 X 39?
+jstevens2010 Yes, they use steel cased ammo. An AK shouldn't have trouble eating steel or brass cased ammo - it should feed nearly anything and everything without issue.
+jstevens2010 I think that may be the case with ar15's but aks should eat any ammo. Especially arsenals. Most of the ammo will be steel cased. I have the SLR 101s and all I use is steel case ammo from wolf.
Are these Arsenals built in Bulgaria or the US with parts kits? I always assumed Russia (Izhmash Saiga), Romania (Cugir WASR) and Serbia (Zastava PAP) were the only ones that exported AK rifles as sporters and then converted and all the others are from parts kits??
+7.62 WAR DADDY All of the parts, excluding the US parts to make it US compliant, are made in Bulgaria by Arsenal... Then the parts are imported and assembled with the US parts by Arsenal of Las Vegas.

The magazine alone accounts for 3 of the compliance parts. I just got mine this week, extremely satisfied with the rifle, there is a difference in the quality, you get what you pay for indeed!!
With the sticky action and bad trigger, why does anyone pay the extra for an Arsenal? Putting in a tapco trigger as a fix? Glad I went with the Zastava. Half the price and no need to buy a tapco trigger for it.

Shipping an AK with a 10rnd mag is a travesty. For $1000 you think you could get atleast 1 real mag. What is this, California?
