Five years later, and exactly what I needed: clear, concise, and practical! Hope you're still playing, looking forward to Shadowlands, and have more guides coming. Your guidance and clear, pleasant voice were spot on for instructing others. Incredibly well done! Thank you so much for your help.
Yeah, I quit WoW, but maybe will come back for a bit for classic. I’m happy people still seem to find this stuff useful though! Thanks for the comment.
I know this is an older video, but thank you for the PW:S/WS set up. I deleted mine trying to change the appearance and couldn't figure out how to restore lol. SO many options I find new ones even after using it for years off and on. I quit WoW for about 3 years so that also made it challenging. So this video is still helping!
We just switched from the screen OP Healium to Vuhdo and this video was/is a great help. Loving this new (to me and my wife) heal addon. Thanks alot for making this video.
Incredible, he served me a lot of help. I'm disci and Shadow Priest. I just discovered your channel and I've subscribed instantly. Great work, keep it up! I am Spanish, forgive my spelling mistakes.
FINALLY this is what i was looking for, thx a lot for the guide. I started maining mistweaver this xpac and blizzad raid frames didnt help with HoT claases like the monk. its a very comprehensible guide gj
Thanks alot for this video! really helped me alot - always used standard blizz frames and clique. Thought i would try something abit more efficient, downloaded Vuhdo and freaked when i saw the options lol - now i have a great ui and your video really sorted it for me so many thanks!
+dan wda I totally get it. When I first started messing around with my UI, trying to figure out all the addons was a bit overwhelming. So glad you took the plunge, and found my video useful! Make sure to look into what you can do with Vuhdo's custom debuff trackers. It's my favorite part of the addon :)
I was wondering what do you do with your vuhdo to differentiate between debuffs needing to be dispelled and debuffs u shouldn't dispell for fight reasons such as Teron'gor and unstable affliction in Auchindoun??
I'm sorry I missed this comment! I make use of custom debuffs. So if there's a debuff that's dispellable, but that I shouldn't actually dispel I'll typically change the color of the bar to something to differentiate it. I'll also add a bar color change for non dispellable debuffs that require my focus. Just enter the name into the custom debuffs panel hit save, change the color to what you want, and hit save again. Hope that helps!
I have two panels with "ranged healer" for example. if I have healers to fill just one panel, the second stays on the screen regardless. How do I hide it? "Hide empty" option does not do anything.
Thank you for this guide !!!! :) I hope in 7.1.5 if there any changes you will update because its so easy and understanding the way you explain .Thank you again for sharing!!!!
Wow, nice ElvUI interface! I have copied it and that worked awesome. Now I am trying to get the Vuhdo options the same, but I am facing issues (pw:s icons are displayed as squares, but I have marked them as icons... Do you have your Vuhdo settings as a pastebin option as well? Skada would be great also :)
falteredperfection I heard that some people do it and I've been meaning to try it to see if I like that functionality better, but just haven't gotten around to it. Do you use it?
hey there, very easy to follow guide, cheers for that! - for some reason my bars up n down, when taking damage, instead of losing health from right (full health) to left (no health) - I can't seem to figure out why it does that! - can you throw some l ighjt on that :) and for some reason all boxes are black evne though its set to class colour..
Yeah, so the setting for this, and what might be effecting your bar colors as well are going to be under options>general>indicators. In the right column, third from the bottom is "Health Bar". Click on the "More" button right next to it and make sure the "Vertical" option is not selected. Here you can also make sure the drop down option below it says "Health (generic, class col). I would also double check that under options>panels>bars you have "Bar Color" in the bottom left corner set to "Class Col." I hope that helps!
Heya, we are half thru Heroic atm and i noticed im missing spells that are useful to track in Vudho. I thought that you made one for Draenor or can you make a quick guide what to track in Emerald, and how? Thx a lot!!! You vids are so helpful!
I know its been a long time since you posted this but I stumbled upon your video which greatly helped me but I got 1 question :D Lets say I track Atonement, but the number of seconds left starts to show only when its below 10 seconds, is there a way I can track the whole duration? Thanks in advance :D
Great tutorial, I was able to copy one or two tricks from you. =) Personally I prefer showing black background health bars with class colored player name text (limited to first 3 letters). When people get damage, the health bar would drain from top to bottom, coloring the missing health part of the bar gradually from green to red, according to the damage taken. To me, the color coded draining of the health bar draws much more atention to critical situations than if I went with the standard system. If you see all black, everything is peachy, if you see a lot of green, everything is quite alright, yellow not so much and when shit hits the fan, everything is orange and red. This is something that everyone has to decide for himself, but I just wanted to put the info out that other visual mechanics are possible, too. KR
That sounds similar to something I had in a previous expac (I go through phases lol). But yeah I agree everyone's preference on how their healing bars should look is varied and personal so I'm glad you took what you liked and made it you're own :) Since Vuhdo is now doing imports I may come up with some different styles and post them for people to play around with. Thanks for the comment, and thanks for checking out my channel!
Thankyou so much, this was very informative. But when I finished my set up I tried using it but when I exited out of the options menu the bar disappeared. I know it's probably something simple, because i'm new to using this. If you could please respond that would be great
I have a question... Im double healer holy and discipline, I have a configuration for discipline but... everytime I want to change my spec I have to put again the spells... Is there any way to have 1 profile for discipline and another for holy so everytime I want to change spec will be active and I dont need to change spells all the time? Thanks, excellent video ✌
Under the Tools tab, there's an "Activate Due to group size." Below that there's according to specs. So just duplicate your disc profile, save as Holy, change the spells, and set the holy to activate with Spec 2.
Great video, I do have a question though? My Disc Priest for some reason, when she tries to heal in either a 5 man or raid instance I can no longer use my other buttons (except for my Left, Right and Middle Mouse Buttons) select a player frame to heal to UNLESS I first left click on the frame. Before I could use my other buttons by just hovering over that frame and it will cast whichever spell, but now I have to left click it first before I can cast to it. I know before that when I had this issue I thought it was just that I had to go under my Vuhdo configurations and under Spells > Misc > and under here I would go to Miscellaneous and make sure that Target was selected; which it is but same issue. Hopefully this makes sense and any assistance would be very much appreciated. It is very frustrating trying to find out why this is just started to happen and what the reason is? Screen shot of the tab that I have selected in my configuration: i67.tinypic.com/1z35t2f.jpg
+Emilee McClain So does it work when you are not inside an instance or party? I'll try to troubleshoot with you but I might need some more information. First I'd check that when you're entering an instance that it's not swapping profiles, which it will do if you have other profiles selected for the "activate due to group size" option under the tools tab. Also check your key layouts (also under tools) to see if it's loading the right key layout if you use that. Are you using mouseover macros? Or did you input spells into the spells tabs? What is working, what isn't? I would also try going to general>indicators> and change the "mouseover" dropdown box to "off/empty". Is left click set as your "Target" command in vuhdo or is it a healing spell? Looking at your screen shot, and knowing that you said it fixed the issue before, it sounds like it could be an error in your mouseover macros (if that's what you're using) as all that option does is target who you're healing...so lets say you can't use your other buttons but then you throw out whatever spell is bound to your left click, well now it is also targeting the person so then the cast part of your macro for the other button will work (if that makes any sense). I do not believe I've experience this issue before, but if you look into the things I mention and are still having issues feel free to message me on youtube and I'll try to trouble shoot some more with you!
Thank you for responding back to me on this. I did get this issue resolved; However to do so I just removed Vuhdo and key-binded all my spells/actions via Clique; which works flawlessly. I use ElvUI player frames for healing other players and no problems so far. I just need to do some adjusting still with how it looks but really other then that it is working great. Again thank you for you offering to assist with this; which is appreciated.
+Emilee McClain I'm glad you found an alternative solution. The built in ElvUI frames actually have a lot of functionality, it just takes a bit to set them up, and if you end up hating it you can also try using Grid with Clique. Sorry I couldn't help fix the Vuhdo issue, but if you ever go back to it and fix it let me know, or if I come across a fix for it I'll pass it along. Good luck!
So far I am liking hte ElvUI frames; which seem to be working with Clique and the additional buttons on my mouse that I have setup. I just need to do some adjusting to the frames though since they look quite a bit different compared to Vuhdo frames. I will let you know for sure though if I go back to Vuhdo for additional help :-)
Thanks for the suggestion Chris! I went back and forth on whether to include that or not but decided to omit it since I have a bunch of boss kill videos on my channel as well that show it in action. If you want, you can check out my most recent boss kill here: ruclips.net/video/bD_0nQg-Ft8/видео.html I appreciate the feed back though, as I'm still pretty new to making these videos it's sometimes hard to gauge what people want included in them.
LaiPlays sorry maybe i wasnt verry clear, but i mean more like during a "recap" of a part of a boss fight, were you pauze the vid and like explain what you see on the UI. hope this is a bit more clear (its hard for me to explain since english isnt my own language :) but serious you should make more vids about healing and stuff, since i saw your videos i started to pick up my disc priest again :)
No, no your English is great! Sorry for misunderstanding. Interesting suggestion and I'll see if I can somehow incorporate it into a future video. Also, I'm glad to hear your playing around with disc again :)
i'm having a problem where the power word shield and divine aegis default icons aren't being used..they do show up after i reload..but after i have to reapply them, the custom vuhdo ones show up..any suggestions?
+Bliz33 Hmm. If you set the bouquet up yourself, I would double check that you have the display showing up correctly in the settings (i.e. have none/default selected under "select default icon"), and in the bouquet details area for Power Word: Shield it should be showing the shield icon, and for Weakened Soul it will have an icon that looks like Mindbender. Make sure you are tracking the correct bouquet under Panels>HoT Icons. Save it. And then log out of the game to save your settings into the lua file. If you're unsure that you set it up correctly I believe the built in one is called PW:S & Weakened Soul. So you can pull that one up make sure the icons say none, save and logout. Sorry you're having trouble, and hope that helps!
with the current changes to disc priests, is it possible to track shadow word pain on enemy targets through vuhdo? i have vuhdo setup to see everyone's target and i have the hostile key layouts set to cast on those targets without having to target them myself. just curious if its possible to have SW:P show up on the enemy targets with vuhdo
Hmmm. I don't believe so. I don't think you can make any specific changes to those particular target frames. The style will mimic your actual raid frames, but I don't think there's a way (although I could be wrong on this) to display hot icons, or debuffs on them. I'm assuming you want to do this in a raid environment, in which case showing the targets of alllllll the raiders is going to not only take up extra space and memory, but visually may give you a headache (unless you're used to it, in which case, you do what works for you). As alternatives you could set up a separate panel for just your target that would give you the that ability to do what you're talking about (although you would have to cycle through targets). Or you could set up your boss frames to show all targets, and display your debuffs on them, and just use a mouseover macro to put out said debuffs. I hope at least some of this is helpful. Good luck!
Hey i was just curious what Ui is this? To have your map on the right like that with your recount or skada? and your logo in the left of the screen howd you get that? And if you could can you give me a list of the addons you use? Please let me know thanks!
ZifNab420 Hey! I made a video with the details on my UI which you can check out here: ruclips.net/video/C1ktgs5CEjk/видео.html There has been some minor adjustments to that, but basically for the main layout you see I'm using Elvui + Elvui Shadow and Light, Skada, Vuhdo, Hermes (cool down tracking at the bottom of the screen), and WeakAuras (my personal cd trackers in the middle of the screen). If you have any further questions that the video doesn't answer let me know and I'll try to help!
I seem to be having a problem with my scanners not showing the arrow in the boxes. I'm not sure when this started happening but its been a while; maybe since legion launched at least because I know it worked in WoD. I mostly run battlegrounds and the directional arrow can be helpful especially when running with friends you get separated from and you can see they need quick healing you know which direction to head out. Do you know what could be causing this? I have it set for 40yrds, and checked all the boxes for out of range for direction, distance, and always. The global scanner is 100yrds. Please help if you can!
No I did not unfortunately. I did find this on the Curse website under the Vuhdo addon changes tab...(unable to copy and paste it for some reason so I typed it out for you)... Patch 7.1 disabled retrieval of unit facing and position in instances...This was an intentional breaking change by Blizzard...This breaks AOE Advice, Clusters and out-of-range direction arrow....At this time there is no way to fix or renable these features. So there you have it...it can't be fixed because of something Blizzard did in their patch 7.1 which is when I first noticed the directional arrow was gone along with AOE Advice. It's a bum deal too. I wasn't dependent on these features but they sure were helpful in random battle grounds. This info was still the same in the last update version 3.81 as when I first stumbled on it. :( Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
I figured it was something like that. I totally agree it was amazing for BGs to find the appropriate direction to run to heal someone. Thanks for letting me know. It's much appreciated!
You are welcome. I hope the creators of Vuhdo will one day find a way to make those lost features work again. I miss it....way to go Blizzard...way to ruin things....lol.
this is a nice guide but i would use Keys Local and just make the bineds in there as they can be used with a mouse that has 12 side buttons like I use I don't use left and right using mouse overs is far better IMO
So that would be under the general tab, and the general button. On the bottom of that screen will be an area called "Hide Panels". Make sure you have Solo and Party unchecked. Hope that helps!
+zamis21 Private tanks are people who you want to specifically watch and give their own panel to. If you go to the General Tab, then to the General button you can see a box that says "Filter" with the option to check "Priv. Tanks". Checking this box won't remove the panel, it will just make it so that people you have marked as a Private Tank (which you do with the Vuhdo Menu option that you can keybind) won't appear in BOTH your Private Tank Panel and other panels. To organize and remove panels you don't need you would go to the "Move" tab. When you're there it will list all the panels you currently are showing (Panel 1, Panel 2, Panel 3, etc). I would suggest if you are having trouble, remove all panels that aren't your base raid frames (click the red X), such that you just have Panel 1. And in that panel you'll see blue boxes that say "Drag me!, Choose, Remove". If you click choose these boxes should say Type = Group, Value = Group 1, with the group changing for each box. If you're comfortable with multiple panels but want to give them individual settings, when you're under the "Panels" tab, the one currently focused will flash yellow. To pick a different panel simply click the panel name so that it begins flashing yellow instead. All panels you have created, as long as they are not on top of each other, or hidden for a specific reason, should appear on your screen when closed out of the Vuhdo options menu. I hope that helps!
Hey sorry getting back to you once more don't know if u got that other message Just curious do you have your own profile that i can load that way it looks like urs? Im havin a heck of a time trying to mimic it lol.
ZifNab420 I believe I answered your questions on your other comment, but if not, or if you end up having more questions let me know, and I'll try to help :)
Can you remake this video for 7.0? I can't track Plea or Shadow Mend. Power Word Shield shows up as a circle even tho I have default set as you showed. There is no more weakend sole to track. Blizzard really did a good job of shredding the disc priest. I am not to happy about it but trying to relearn it.
I do have my new binds and hot trackers set up, and plan on making a video for it soon! Disc has DEFINITELY changed quite a bit, so I'll be curious to see 1. if they make anymore changes before Legion raiding and 2. how many people are going to swap off of it for something else.
Remember, you don't want to be tracking plea, it's an instant cast with no hot. You want to be tracking atonement, which is the buff it puts out. Hope that helps.
I'm game for it! I think having Disc as a real hybrid spec is what they have always wanted to do, but haven't been able to quite execute/balance it successfully yet. Whereas in MoP atonement was powerful and mindless (smite smite smite), now in WoD it's basically useless and shields are powerful and mindless (shield shield shield). Having both aspects of Disc become more entangled in one another and the play style being more interactive and thoughtful would be an interesting and refreshing change for me.
LaiPlays I agree, I played/mained Disc through both MoP and WoD, and while I enjoyed both, I would like to see a successful attempt at a more hybrid spec instead of the pendulum which has been occurring.
+LaiPlays I'm glad to see disc get an overhaul for Legion. It's been two expansions now since disc has been owning all other healers by absorbs. Holy will at last be making a comeback and not trumped by disc. Hopefully the playstyle for disc in Legion will be more interesting. Thanks for the tutorial, nice job. You broke down VudHo into manageable chunks. It's a great addon like Weak Auras 2, but pretty intimidating to set up.
+holymolie I would love to see holy be super OP for once, it's an incredibly fun spec to play. And the overhaul will be interesting for all healers, I'm excited to see how it will all pan out in relation to the encounters. I'm glad I could help you with Vuhdo! Good luck with the rest of this tier :)
+Gamer Zodalf Make sure that if you click the "General" tab, under the "Filter" options that "Self" is not checked, as that will remove your bar from the raid frames. Hope that helps!
+Gamer Zodalf Yeah, under the hide panels, I do like to have self checked as I don't like to see my frames when not in a group as my personal preference. Sorry for any confusion.

Even two years later this is still a helpful way to get things set up and has helped me A TON! Thank you so much!
This is the best and most comprehensive video I found on vudho. Good job!
years later this has been great for me, thank you!
Looks like you no longer play or do guides BUT I gotta say this has helped me A LOT getting into Vuhdo. TYVM fellow Disc Priest.

still using this awesome vid !
Thanks for the guide. Easy to understand, quick, to the point and with a lovely voice

Check under the general tab, general button, under the hide options make sure it's not set to hide when you're solo. Let me know if that fixes it!
Thanks for replying so soon, yes it did work. And keep making great videos.
+Jack Tipping Glad to hear that! And thank you 😊

Late to the party, so to speak, but thank you for this. Starting to play Holy Priest and this tutorial really took the mystery out of VuhDo. 👍🏼
Thanks for making this guide, helped me get guide me through the basics :)
So glad you found it helpful! :)
Nice vid, but could you add like a small clip of how it actually looks/works while in or during a raid?
Thanks for the suggestion Chris! I went back and forth on whether to include that or not but decided to omit it since I have a bunch of boss kill videos on my channel as well that show it in action. If you want, you can check out my most recent boss kill here: ruclips.net/video/bD_0nQg-Ft8/видео.html
I appreciate the feed back though, as I'm still pretty new to making these videos it's sometimes hard to gauge what people want included in them.
Wow this video was great. Very informative and organized. Thanks!
I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊
i'm having a problem where the power word shield and divine aegis default icons aren't being used..they do show up after i reload..but after i have to reapply them, the custom vuhdo ones show up..any suggestions?
Love love love your videos, keep up the awesome work! And your UI is the hawtest! ;)
Lol thank you so much! Pretty much gonna save this comment and read it every morning. :D
Hello there, awesome stuff.
I'd highly appreciate, if u could make that debuff video aswell.
FABO the maestro Thanks so much! Hopefully I'll have time this week to get it done for you guys :)
with the current changes to disc priests, is it possible to track shadow word pain on enemy targets through vuhdo? i have vuhdo setup to see everyone's target and i have the hostile key layouts set to cast on those targets without having to target them myself. just curious if its possible to have SW:P show up on the enemy targets with vuhdo
I made a video with the details on my UI which you can check out here: ruclips.net/video/C1ktgs5CEjk/видео.html
There has been some minor adjustments to that, but basically for the main layout you see I'm using Elvui + Elvui Shadow and Light, Skada, Vuhdo, Hermes (cool down tracking at the bottom of the screen), and WeakAuras (my personal cd trackers in the middle of the screen). If you have any further questions that the video doesn't answer let me know and I'll try to help!
An excellent video. Clear and to the point. Thank you!
+Raymond Demara Thank you so much. I hope it helped!
Thank you! This was so easy to follow!
I've actually been having the same issue. Were you ever able to find a fix?
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Hi Lai,
As the new alpha of VuhDo allows for export/import strings for profiles. Would you be willing to share your profile strings for Holy/disc? :)
Sure would! I'm just doing a little testing with it since it was pretty buggy at first. I'll try to have the imports available to you all soon :)
Well worded, and very useful. Thanks!
I have a question: how i can configurate to have it all time active insted of only raid/dungeon?
So that would be under the general tab, and the general button. On the bottom of that screen will be an area called "Hide Panels". Make sure you have Solo and Party unchecked. Hope that helps!
Ty so much!!
What the hey is a private tank and why does my panel keep changing to "Panel 3" Did i hit the wrong button?
Thank you :)
how do i make it show left to right in 5 mans
Id like to see my plea in the boxes and such...
Remember, you don't want to be tracking plea, it's an instant cast with no hot. You want to be tracking atonement, which is the buff it puts out. Hope that helps.
Yea I just thought it be nice to see who I had it on; since I mostly pvp I don't have a lot of time to stare at things lol.
Best guide ever !!!! THank you
Seems as though they will be doing some changes to Disc for Legion.
Good luck with the rest of this tier :)
oh and one more thing! How to remove the class icons, like dps, healer, tank Icon thingie :D
how to create panels with main tank? coz im delete this...
great video, I'm use the info you posted and transfer it to a resto shaman :) thanks for the help.
+Brad Churchill I'm happy you found it helpful and were able to use it for different characters!
This was a great video that was extremely helpful! Thank you very kindly!
+Amra Thanks so much! :)
Thank you so much for this video and for that cleaaan layout :) even now in Shadowlands its super usefull
Thanks for this video.. i can stop pulling out what hair i have left.
Lol glad I could help 😊
my hero ! thanks so much so few disc priest :(
Lol yeah, everyone has gone holy. They're both fun specs to play though imo 🙂
well done! thank you!
Thanks for this!
good one ! thx !
Thank you. This helped me :)
I did everything in the video, but when I was done there was no bar for me to click on myself...
+Gamer Zodalf Make sure that if you click the "General" tab, under the "Filter" options that "Self" is not checked, as that will remove your bar from the raid frames. Hope that helps!
+LaiPlays Figured it out it's because you said to check the "hide self" in the video :/
+Gamer Zodalf Yeah, under the hide panels, I do like to have self checked as I don't like to see my frames when not in a group as my personal preference. Sorry for any confusion.
8 years later, using this to play wotlk again haha 😅
big up ! like !
I love u
