Mike, I really enjoy your videos. I'm in my late 50's and relate to your intellectual, mature attitude. It's refreshing to see someone who is a car enthusiast but enjoys simply DRIVING his Mustang without feeling the need to "push the envelope" every chance he gets. :-) I'm planning on buying my first Mustang in the Spring and I honestly know I'll be echoing a lot of the thoughts you so eloquently verbalize in your videos as I drive, maintain, experience and enjoy my ride. Thanks for sharing your mind and heart through your car and this channel!! I'll be watching faithfully!!

THank you Kim. Mike has a great attitude and sense of humor. He is proof that the Mustang is NOT just a young man's car. I actually just bought a 2019 GT Premium Coupe. Mike's channel helped me make the decision to buy. Mike - I have to drive mine all year long - in the snow!! Going to ;put a good set of Blizzaks on it - I hear they make winter driving a decent endeavor for the Mustang. :-) I'll find out next winter as I'm not taking delivery of my car until April. Mike, I’ve got a ‘17 Ecoboost convertible with every option including the Performance Package. I’m 68 and it gives me a thrill every time I drive it. I highly recommend the Love The Drive wind deflector which allows top & windows down driving year round. My rule is top-down if it’s at least 45 degrees!

Hi Bosco Butterbear - first of all that's a cool YT handle! I used to prefer Bosco over Hersheys syrup and then it disappeared from the shelves one day. I don't think I ever got over that.

Loved the video Mike. Nice going for a drive in your hometown. I own a 2011GT convertible with a manual. I test drove a 2019 5.0 with the auto. I couldn't believe how strong the motor was, and the grip off the line was amazing. I'll be upgrading at some point this summer. Keep up the good work.

Mike. Love your video and enthusiasm for the car. I had an 02 GT convertible, and now I drive a 14 GT convertible. Take it from a Canadian who drives with his convertible top down as long as there’s no salt on the road. Get a “Love the Drive” windscreen. It greatly reduces the wind buffeting and, with the heater on, creates a little cocoon of warm air in the cabin, even with the roof down.
I will definitely look into one of those wind screens! I think it is awesome that you drive your convertibles top down as much as you do. I try to do the same, but sometimes my passenger is not equipped for the wind or chill. Being able to buffet the wind would be great! @@MikeFyxdt Same, I enjoyed your video so much more than the rest where the mustang is driven unnecessarily fast. Owning a mustang gt convertible is a dream that seems very far away, but it's videos like these that motivate me to keep pushing forward.

Gorgeous car Mike! Even though I plan on moving to FL soon, I would still get a hard top, never been a big fan of verts, buy if it makes you happy that's all that matters.
Hi Tony M - I like how you intro'd your comments, "Even though I plan on moving to FL..." Now that I have a convertible I wish I WAS in FL! Maybe what doesn't come across in the video is that things have come so far with car construction and tech is that this is much closer to the hard top than older convertibles used to be. I had 1980s and 1990s convertibles and they were horrible. The new Mustang is pretty awesome!

Excellent footage! I was about to ask what type of camera you were using when you mentioned the GoPro. You are a RUclips channel creator who knows how to use your GoPro! Kudos! I have enough money to buy a Honda Civic S1 in a month. I really would like to manifest another $30,000 to get a Mustang convertible to replace my 2004 Mustang convertible Anniversary Edition. Fingers crossed.
Hi Kim Townsel - thanks for the nice words! You can never go wrong with a Honda (Admittedly I'm a fanboy and long time customer). But the Mustang convertible is in a different class. Before I bought my Mustang I was hopeful for about a year that Honda would re-launch the S2000 sport convertible, but no such luck. Best wishes for finding the perfect car!

@Bilal - I love it here. I feel like the roads have improved. Maybe the milder winters has been doing less damage or maybe the road crews have upped their game!

@Manan Gosai - That's a fair question! Yes, they go down. :) I keep them up when 1. recording a video while I'm moving so I don't get as much wind and road noise, or I just want the cabin to be more quiet, and 2. when I'm cold! Between the heated seats and the powerful HVAC, the lower half of me stays toasty on cold top-down days. Putting up the windows lets the warm reach my hands and face much more efficiently.

I was literally about to ask how the manual was treating you and you mentioned replacing the clutch spring. I thought about getting the stick but I heard they had some bugs to work out.
Hi Cometa Soulstar - Let me clarify... the most widely publicized criticism with the manual transmission was a failure in the shift fork, presumably only in a batch of 2018 models. From what I've read/seen the supplier of the faulty part has resolved the issue. So far I have not had any 'problems' with my manual and I do recommend it.
The clutch spring replacement is not a repair - it is an aesthetic mod that makes the clutch pedal feel lighter. The current clutch and pedal setup works fine - it is not a bug. If you want a stick then I would still consider one. :)
How do you like the REV MATCHINGon the downshifting ? ... that's new for the 19s. .....car looks good👍
Mustang 860 - the rev matching is very cool! It works... um... it just WORKS! The only thing that needed getting used to was that the sound surprises you, especially when you have the mufflers turned to 'loud', because your engine revs and you didn't tell it to. It also attracts attention from pedestrians who think you are showing off when it revs - I've gotten a few stares, LOL!
My surprise 'favorite feature' on the car, which I didn't know it had, is the hill assist that holds the brakes when you are at a stop on a slope, for the manual transmission. Using that makes me smile every time.

There is no feeling quite like turning the handle a quarter turn then pressing that down button and watching the interior of car brighten up.

Mike or anyone who already enjoys the Convert-Life….. how is the road noise when the top is up? Is it bad? Surprisingly quiet? Please let me know. I want one but if it has a lot of road noise, might be getting GT Premium. I do know the 2024’s are all auto..
Roger - I'd say "quiet" but not "surprisingly quiet". Wind noise and outside noise is minimal, but the engine and exhaust are LOUD - and that comes from beneath the car, not just through the top. Hope that helps!

Hey François, great question. The cloth top is pretty quiet, and since it is lined that really helps with noise. You do hear more than you would with a hard top, but not considerably more. Most of the sound is the tires on the road, and the sweet sound of the engine.
@@MikeFyxdt wonderful! What upgrades do you have? I’ll go with a manual, but not sure if PP is necessary: I want to cruise, enjoy the sun, and won’t track it. Lastly, how clear and good is the sound system? Cheers!
François, I bought my car with the majority of upgrades, except the Recaro seats and upgraded stereo. The existing stereo is plenty loud for me, especially since I drive with the top down and prefer to hear what’s around me. I like the digital gauges that come with the performance pack, and I absolutely love the active exhaust. One of my favorite upgrades is the nickel wheels, which may be standard with the GT in Europe, but here is rarely seen.

how is the noise on the highway with the top up? I want to be able to have a conversation with the top up and im pretty sure that its louder with the convertible than with the coupe
@Willy Q - that's a great question! Top up, no problem. The top is padded and well sealed, and not a lot of outside sound or wind noise gets in. Undoubtedly the hard top will be quieter. But I have found that I can talk with the top down, even at highway speeds. I big part of that is that I got the active exhaust that has a 'quiet' mode. it makes a huge difference, even wit the top up. But don't take my word for it - go for a test drive! Let me know what you think!
You’re right about just cruising and enjoying the drive. I purchased a Mustang Bullitt which gad been fun to. I have a 2008 Miata PHRT convertible which satisfies my top down driving desires. I guess if I traded my Bullitt I’d gor for a convertible GT then I wouldn’t need the Miata. Two cars in ONE?!
Joel - A Bullitt and a Miata are a fun stable of cars. You're right, the Mustang GT Convertible lands in between and kinda does both. One of the reasons I got it is because it straddles the line between different types of cars. It's not the best at any one thing - the Bullitt is faster and the Miata is more nimble, for instance. But for me it's perfect. And my wife would only let me buy one new car!
Set Now - Yes, I love the retro cool of the Bullitt, but I daily my Miata. The nimble handling and the power hard top convertible are great.

Hi Guy - I hope it will hold up! I've had white and beige leather seats in cars before and they have worn just fine. (The race red seats have been in Mustangs for the past several years. The older ones I've seen haven't showed any wear that caught my attention.) So I say 'go for it'! They look awesome.

Very nice video. I am in the dilemma of considering if i should go with a 2019 GT convertible or Coupe. Iam staying in UAE. My concerns are the 8months of heat + dust. If the rag top is cleanbale and all. It would br great if u could give me some suggestion with respect to it. Thanks in Advance

Rohit rahul - Wow, tough question! As much as I love my convertible, I would say that the cloth top, while well made, may not be the best choice for hot dusty climates. Too bad Mustang doesn't make a removable hard top! If you had another car and a place to garage the convertible when the weather is harsh then I think you would be OK.
Would it be possible to make a mustang convertible a daily driver in the Midwest? Does it operate well in snow
Chaseme6331 - is it possible? Yes, but not optimal if traction is a priority. A Mustang Convertible is a better second car than a daily driver IMO.
Ask the ford car designer to give the convertible about 2-1/2 foot of leg room in the rear? What prevents them from doing that?
Even the hard tops have NO rear leg room. But I have to say that the trunk space is really good - just right for a weeks worth of luggage for 2 people. I wouldn't want to give that up for leg room. :)
I like the new Ford mustang convertible but I would like for you to go ask a ford Designer of their cars and ask them why don't they design the convertible a little longer in the rear seat area so that taller people would have a little more leg room??

Hi, If I understand your question, are you asking if the manual transmission has problems? I have the 6 speed manual and it has not been a problem. I believe it is the same manual transmission no matter which level car you buy. Do I love it? No, I think the shifter could be more precise. But I have had no problems with it, and I do recommend it. (There was a problem with the shift fork in some 2018 models, but that has been resolved.) Hope that helps! Thanks for stopping by!

Yes, all 4 windows on the sides roll down completely. The back window is glass and was tinted just like the rest. No problems!

I have a 15 GT Coupe and a a19 GT Convertible. I only drive the coupe when i need to fill it up with gas to give it back to the wife. Nothing wrong with the coupe I just love driving my convertible especially in cali.
