My god what a great masterclass! using a japanese bird sample really got me... the level of detail is insane, i cant believe i didnt find your channel earlier!
I like your channel bro great in depth information .u do your homework and present everything respectfully and you don't rely on gimmicks and cheesy dialogue lol no 'woooos" or "that's fire" every time you add a sound lol .
thanks again Will, i finally finished 1 traditional japanese lofi track by watching this tutorial, you explain it nice and clearly, once again thankyou sir.
@@WillHatton I'm thinking about buying silk, but it's a little expensive so I'm not really sure, have you got some thoughts about nativ instrument east Asia??
@@huber-lofiandchillbeat it is! Even per month you’re still paying $30. I love East Asia too! Definite purchase at a lower price point but if it’s quality you’re after you might not beat East West however, if it’s the odd Yangqin sound in a Lofi beat - who’s going to hear the difference?
@@WillHatton Thanks for your reply ! yeah you make a point, the last thing I wonder about East Asia is, is the vst only composed of pre - recorded phrases that you can put on the piano roll, but that you can't really edit to make your own melody ?
Hey, very nais tutorial mate, since my music theory is a little limited I wanted to ask you what kind of chords you used as the foundation. It looks like a basenote + a higher octave and one in between. But are these typical chords?
Great track :) Really enjoyed the video. Thank you for sharing on Reddit. :) 2 questions: what VST’s/Library’s are u using for the Wurli and Yangqin? :)
Thank you! Good question, the Wurli is just built in with Ableton 11 and the Yangqin is from Native Instruments. It was free at one point so check if it still is!
great content Will! you put a lot in this video :) Is there a way to add these scales to the ones in the window menu in ableton? it would be really nice to select "scale" and have just the right notes to play from.. or maybe is possible to save a preset in the scale intrument
Oooh! Good question, leave it with me. That’ll be handy for future videos. I’ll try to get to the bottom of it you can. It would make a nice addition to the projects I upload to Patreon.
@@WillHatton I forgot to answer, by the way you should try the Zhong hu instead of the erhu if you’re trying to achieve that type of Mellow dreamy sound for that instrument

I think I've practiced melodies enough to attempt this! great video, one of the only ones that show up when searching for Japanese lofi, so nice work!
Thanks for the video Will✨, always wanted to make this type of lofi but had no clue where to start😂
Glad I could be of some help!
Happy music making!!
Amazing video, well done! Would've loved to see you use Dani Sogen's Domaru as a reference track, that song is something else!
