I haven't had any alcohol now for 35 days and I try not to drink caffeine past 12 pm. Thanks buff Hudson for the pointers and motivation to get back in the gym and hump dem weights!!
Managing your mind (thoughts) and stress are the two biggest factors with sleep. Cardio and weightlifting both help tremendously with that, but having a daily nighttime ritual like Pranayama (deep diaphragm breathing), putting away electronics, and reading a book help a lot. There is so much you can put into practice to change your habits, but ultimately it's up to the sufferee to implement. Consistency is key with any habit or action you want to take to change your life. It can't just be a symptomatic correction and then you forget about it.
You have a video on your skin care routine Hudson? I started one back in January just off of some articles I read. Would love to know what yours is though!
I slept 4 hours last night. Woke up completely exhausted. I am afraid to say I followed every single advice in this video to the T for a few years now, religiously. But if you are under stress, it will still mess up with your sleep. Two large kiwis 2 hours prior to sleep (melatonin) Exercising 5 days a week, two-hour sessions of weightlifting Not a drop of alcohol for years Reading one hour in bed No screen time 2 hours before attempting to sleep No phone in the bedroom White noise in the background Low temperatures still no sleep
You should avoid fruits and basically any carbs in the evening alltogether, including kiwis... The melatonin effect You mentioned is NOT worth the fructose uptake... Check out something about intermittent fasting, that helped me increase the quality of my sleep A LOT in the past! Btw. now as I switched to carnivore diet, I may even have a carnivorous dinner and still have a high quality sleep as if I would be on my evening fasting from the past... But before when I ate dinners containing fruits, grains, sugars, vegetables, I always suffered a poor sleep and was waking up exhausted and with a headache... Sometimes it is difficult to abandon the old dogmas a person believed in, whether it is about what is/should be healthy for You or appropriate before sleep (or regarding any other issue), but better just get rid of it... That "kiwi" thing just got me and I had to reply to You after all my experience throughout the years... Good luck dude! ;-)
literally the best thing happened to me today is to see your videos before eating my post-workout meal You got me into fitness, yeah i'm working out with my bodyweight cuz don't have access to gym but my dream is to become a fitness influencer too and motivate people like you motivated me
I don't think screen's problems is necessarily the "blue light", but the continuous need for the eyes to focus & refocus the muscles at different depths and distances in order to make sense of the images shown on the screen. This leads to over-tension in the eye muscles, pain, and the inability to move attention away from pain in order to fall asleep.
HELL YEAH SNES MINI NOW THAT IS HIGH TEST! I noticed anytime i had poor sleep i could NOT perform in the gym, nor could i recover as fast. Like you said, any time i workout I am much more tired in the evening. I burn off all that extra energy and it helps you sleep better.
Hey Buff Dudes I’ve just had my first baby, and it’s affecting my gym routine including sleep and diet really badly - since Hudson is a dad I’d love to hear any advice or experiences when you were raising your kid how you stayed in shape! Thanks 💪
I like these videos cause it’s really reassuring to hear some of the things I don’t consider to be on the self help side of things are routine parts of my day without trying, thanks! 🤟🏽🤟🏽💪🏽
Don't forget caffeine. Don't take any stimulants within 6 hours of sleep. I drink 2 cups of coffee a day, all before noon. I naturally get drowsy/ready for bed by 9pm, every night.
No caffeine after noon is good advice, although before 3pm is better than nothing. It's as the half-life is about 5 hours (but up to 12) so you want as much out your system as possible.
Had a month where I didn't have enough time to lift, eat well, and sleep well, so I chose nutrition and sleep. Lost 1lb and stayed the same body fat percentage. Didn't lose that much strength either, but did lose some flexibility and endurance.
Would love to see Hudson's Buff Dude night time face routine. Im entering the late 30's and wanna get ahead of the skin before it goes downhill too far
Gave up alcohol 5 weeks ago and manno man, mood, brain fog, motivation, bank balance, short term memory, even socialising have improved a lot… and I’ll be swapping the screen for books also Huddo.. skin is still my biggest organ..but not by much😆😆…
USE YOUR KINDLE The thing that did the trick for me THE MOST was reading on my kindle in bed with the lights off. It's not a smartphone-light, no social media and 100% imagination. I was used to falling asleep 30-40 minutes after going into bed. But with the kindle it's 5-10 minutes max
sadly, my current issue is allergies. So insanely bad that I end up losing my lunch, body aches, and even chills throughout the day. Its really starting to impede my gym sessions. Not a happy camper. Maybe I'll try this and aim for better sleep. idk. Or pray for summer to come early so it can burn away all these damn pollens!
I don't know man I had three beers last night and I slept for 10 hours and my REM sleep on my watch says I was in it for 6 hours. That's pretty damn good. Lol I'll keep drinking my beer thank you.
it takes patience to learn how to fall asleep, took me years to go to bed at 10 pm lol, but now I sleep from 10 to six no problem, I used to be a "night owl" I let people tell me that's just how my brain works
Another tip that sounds bonkers, but sleeping on your side has been shown to improve brain health - helps to better flush out waste from the brain during sleep helping lower the risk of dementia and cognitive problems.
"alcohol makes you drowsy but interrupts your sleep" he didn't mention weed, but weed also does the same thing. ***waits for the weed people to start gaslighting with false information***
i am a weed person and this is fact. weed may help you get to sleep sooner, but it messes up your deep sleep cycle. that being said, it's still a better alternative for ppl with chronic pain keeping them fully awake at night. most people don't have chronic pain keeping them awake all night so for most it's bad. just like alcohol, weed should be for a special occasion, don't make the occasion to do it.
That's all very good advice but what would you reccomend for sleeping next to the wife who makes barnyard animal noises when she sleeps keeping me awake?
I used to sleep really well until about 6 months ago. I almost always got a full 8 hours in and life was golden. I wonder what changed? No idea. Hey ho, anyway, off to go and feed the baby...
Barrel saunas like that tend to start about £2500/$3500 - £5000/$6500. Certainly a pricey investment but depends how much you'd use it I guess. We don't have the space in the UK!
Sleeping naked is always good to develop a certain muscle. 😅😂 Especially with a partner you're with, it's good for bonding and procreation or experimentation...lol
Please don’t post such nonsense. The only way to actually build muscle in your sleep is to sleeplift. Everybody knows this. It’s like sleepwalking. You go exercise while sleeping and it’s much easier because your conscious mind doesn’t get in the way.
Ironically watching this while I'm having trouble sleeping
Oh no 💪😄

Blue light from screens disturbing sleep was scientifically debunked a while back

Hudson: no exercising before bedtime
Me to my wife: sorry babe, it’s the Buff Dudes orders!

Good call!! Would also love to know more of his skin care routine to see if mine needs any tweaking or product change.
We need a video like this for 3rd shifters. For example our shifts go from 10pm to 6am. 🤷🏻♂️👌🏽 keep up the great work
Thank you for covering this, I’m trying to fix my sleep.

L-Theanine supplementation right before bed finally helped me. It has a calming effect.

The most underrated thing in modern society! So many people are pumped up on caffeine, neglecting their sleep!

Great stuff here, in regards to the shower before sleep - keep in mind if you go to sleep with your hair wet it increases the chance for dandruff.
Watching this at 11 am and now I’m ready for bed 🥱

great video buddy
Alcohol - no. Predator?!!!! YES!!!!
